I am just a die hard Cat and earth moving enthusiast. I collect antique earth moving equipment along with my grandfather. I also enjoy farming from the early 20th century so you will see some video related to that. My channel is just here to share the journey with you to see how things used to be done, and to get into how to repair some of it as well. I encourage you to check things out, and subscribe. You will also find the odd new equipment tutorial mixed into the lot as well.

U 😊😊 should check and see what size inlet pipes are and U should be able 2 find caps at the hard ware store the old fuel tanks had the same caps on them 😊😊 OMG 6 27 2O24
They are difficult to find the size - I got lucky and found a few at a local tire supplier. 10:00 x 24 OTR aren’t made anymore except for - manufacturer but I can’t remember the name sorry
Just curious if you have it on tandem for both cylinders and turn on assist cross slope won’t it work the same as left cylinder or right cylinder only with assist cross slope on?
That would work if you wanted to creat a grade where both cylinders were lifting together like a flat grade - but if you want to grade a cross slope you have run it either left side or right side.
@@ironman3406 ok. I understand what you’re saying. I just noticed on mine that once you set a cross slope (5% for example) and have assist on it will keep that cross slope no matter if your in tandom, left or right. Great video and very informative though!!
If you’d pay attention to the video you’d see that the tracks are only there for the intro and the walk around - the starting and moving of it are legit. Just the filming was out of order.
This old operator shared with me when he noticed washboard really exploding as a problem was after Posi-traction or Limited Slip Differentials became a standard feature on vehicles. Vehicles were able to keep up speeds in areas where in the past they would be forced to slow down.
Noticed the fan rotates opposite direction from what I expected; due to the gear drive I imagine. I'm getting my RD-7 running and found your post helpful. Thanks for posting.
Your lucky it dont have scarfiers you would have about 8 more I think. I cut my teeth on old Cat graders, my favorite is the 99E, I have opperated G models but the 99E is still my favorite.
Fair rant m8,, it can be a very thankless job but also very satisfying at the same time, i am very appreciative of your knowledge of how the modcons work & how you reinterprete into practical learning for others , well done i learnt alot from this vid , keep it up & feel good in the fact that you have helped so many , drivers on the road & operators .
So I know this video is like 2 years old probably will never get a response not trying to to criticize anyone but you should have cleaned greased the sway bar and the bracket mount on the inside and also cleaned up any debris that was built up inside the bracket mount and on the sway bar. I live in the south about to do a whole front end rebuild on my 03 king ranch 250 I’m so glad I don’t have any of the rust to deal with also the under body has been treated and lined so that makes thing quite a bit easier for me.
Really cool video! My uncle owned a small excavating company in Lower Michigan, and I grew up around old machinery like this. Loved it! His dad had a big gnarly Euclid dozer, roughly D8 size. And my uncle had an old Hein-Werner excavator, which I'm told was built out of a crawler crane, because the tracks were flat, no grousers. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Is that place open to the public? If so, what is the name of it again?
I don’t know how many times I need to explain or answer this - drones don’t record audio, all you would hear is the sound of the drone buzzing. I could leave it bare quiet or add music. I add music.
So you cant drive and dump. That very inefficient. you should be able to dump at 20 MPH so the piles are more easily spread by the tractor with a scraper box.
No spreading at high speeds in an articulated truck is unsafe and very easy to tip the machine. So they limit the speed that the machine will travel to prevent that from happening. I’ll tell you what’s not efficient, spreading out truck piles with a tractor and scraper box. You should be using a bulldozer or grader for the best efficiency.
Hey there pal! Thanks for watching and for the kind words and Man isn’t she a beauty!!?? I love the paint scheme! Have a great weekend my friend hope you’ll be able to work on something.
Great Video!.... I was wishing you would have at least turned around and given us a quick shot of what was (is) under the "hood" of that tracked Ford truck right next to the 1066. I could have sworn I saw a valve cover of a 6V71... could be mistaken... but, it sure looked like it.
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed. The next time I’m out there I’ll be sure to get a little more footage of that rig. It does have a Detroit diesel to power the excavator on the back, but not sure what’s under the hood for propelling the unit around. Thanks again
@@ironman3406.... Thank you so much for your reply, I appreciate it. Did I hear you say that you're from Sask.? If so, where in Sask.? I worked up there, back in the 1970's & early 80's. I also drag raced there, with SIR as my "home strip" 11 miles south of "S'toon". Lots of good memories for me there and all the friends I made "when we were Young"! lol
Some of the most stirring steam train footage i've seen on all of RU-vid (and there's lots!). Fantastic and unique shot staging, showing off the Empress' running gear, which is what steam lore is all about...South Sask and a beautiful Canadian designed / built Hudson steam locomotive restored to it's original glory is something to see, what a wonderful world we live in. Thanks to CPKC for making this happen. Now, they MUST restore a Selkirk!
Thanks for watching - im glad you enjoyed the video. It was a lot of fun chasing her down and seeing her running down the rail. A sight I’ve never really experienced before as steam locomotives were long retired when I was born. I was born in the wrong era. Thanks again for watching and for the kind words.
It’s a travesty how the Selkirk in Calgary is just rotting outside. No care at all for her. I would love to see her running too but sh would be a beast to restore and move back to the mainline. We can dream though!!!
Correction. The second tender is on loan from the friends of the 4449. Which run and take care of SP GS4 4449. It's her Auxiliary tender and is from a cab forward
My mistake thanks for the clarification - I didn’t think I said all 3 tenders belonged to her, just that she had 3 for the water requirements. If I misspoke though, I’m man enough to admit my mistake. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video other than that?
Thanks for the video Nathan! Pretty cool train! We had a huge steamer gone thru the rail in my town a few years ago. Wasn’t supposed to stop but did because of the new railroad crossing they put in right before it came thru
Thanks Gene, yah it’s a beautiful train. Was it the Union Pacific’s Big Boy that went through your town? That ones on my bucket list to see one day! Thanks for watching.
