As as a breakdown fitter electrician, Love the Elink , VIMS screen and temps , Data etc.. , especially brake temp issues , due to wiring and ‘ green death ‘ sulphated connectors , here in Australia, the salt content is high , especially in Western Australia, there’s so much with ‘temp sensors , diff pressure and temp , because of water ingress , the water connectors can due so much , and having the VIMs a great Diagnosic tool when you don’t have the ET , SIS near by , test driving the CAT is cool , super cool as I’m VOC ‘ed on it and love the power when they get going , sooo Uber lucky to blessed working on these CAT products and in the Mining game !
Man I just put in an application at the Quarry up the road from me for this exact position. I pray I get it, this reminds me of my Tonka truck as a kid lol
blastman8888 yer.. camera nva does any favours : from the left screen to right edge.. keep going right another five meters or fifteen feet. However whatever just loaded him that was huge one bucket and he was on his way I say five hundred tonner front shovel w/ swing gate? Those trucks are (154 tonne maxD by vims) go slo mode. So it is universal for if someone doesn’t wanna wave all the time: they’ll just look out the left mirrors... hahah and then scratch there heads? 😂 lolz
I operate one from mon-fri 6am-4pm then sat 6am-12. Where I work we have 3 770g trucks. Which we get loaded by a 992 loader. 2-2.5 scoops and we're fully loaded. There only 40 tonners. We can fit 50 though. Lol. Soon we are getting rid of them and getting 100 ton trucks bc our quarry is getting a brand new plant for crushing stone etc.. it'll be another couple years before it's finished though. But yeah I love driving them. Literally my first day of work. I watched a few safety videos, then got put right into a truck. Only 3 days of driving with somebody then after that I was on my own.
Still gotta here the mine boss though. Proud he's wearing the proper PPE gear.... wheres your steel toe flip flops, respirator and hard hat super trucker?
Fun to operate but very dangerous as well more so than a road semi truck and trailer, due to their sheer size and weight with the power it outputs, as another commenter said thank goodness for air ride seats. Smart to wear a bit of hearing protection to muffle out some of the noise, too bad you do not have a radio or other music device to listen to as well other than the hum of motor and creaking and clanking. Have you ever heard of ETF Mining Equipment? check them out as they are in the process of building BEV Mining trucks from 180 to 774 metric tons with Haul Train Configurations from 568 to 6192 metric tons as well.
Can you tell me how you got started with driving these trucks. I've been unsuccessful in finding out anything on the rigid frame large haul trucks. Like jobs /schools.
I've seen people use the retarder all the time, but the service brake (brake next to accelerator) is never to be used at high speeds but best used when entering the area you're being loaded. That way you have your right hand ready at the shifter...
@@aarons5259 manuallty shifting gears and using the clutch would be a nightmare on that thing. The clutch would be super heavy and the gear lever would be impossible to reach the cab. You could make it so that the clutch and shifter are electronically controller but that just adds complexitiy. An automated manual transmission or a torque converter transmission are better.
@@amateurtorque6709 a manual transmission would be more reliable. In manual transmissions you slip the clutch ONLY for a short period of time to get the vehicle moving. If you want to go slower you just use lower gearing, you dont slip the clutch
Cat will configure them anywhere from 1100 to 1450 depending on application and customer. The standard tune for the 3512 is 1500 hp. So in these units they are very under stressed.
How do you start working on such a truck? What kind of license do you require? Are there many places in europe where such trucks are used? (if yes where?), how much per month do you get payed for this kind of job? Im currently driving lorrys all over europe, have an C+E license, but im always on the lookout for good opportunities when it comes to operating heavy equipment. If anyone can provide info i will greatly appreciate it.
Simeon Bairaktaris the mining game in the UK is pretty dead now due to the falling price of coal. you really need to know someone in the trade to get a job
Look into the International Operating Engineers Union, and seek out an apprenticeship program near you. The pay, benefits, and experience is amazing. Best of luck!
No grader, park up, why stuff your back, but then again you are probably in America. Truck operator has air ride seat set too soft, wonder he was not bouncing of the cab ceiling
@@coalminer1553 I herded a 71 and a 73 and they bounce like a ball. I finally just had to bounce with them because trying to hold on will kill you after a while. Arms and shoulders cramping is no fun A-tall!
They said that 20 years ago.. Ditto the trains.. :-) But I wonder how the satellite might perform the all all the prestart safety inspections and offer the continuous multi-sensory safety input offered by a human operator? And if they make changes that make the environment less safe (than human) then liability/culpability issues arise...
Everybody goes into a big song-and-dance over driving dumpies and it's mostly all BS. The truth of the matter is you could get a well trained chimpanzee to drive one, which is probably why there are so many women in dumpies these days! Put 'em in an old R model Flintstone with a twin stick quad box and then we'll find out who the real truck drivers are!
