Using my new Caterpillar 926M wheel loader to clean up after a 4-6in weekend snow storm. I have my new MetalPless Maxxpro snow plow on the machine. It is 12ft wide in the middle and the wings are 6ft long. Like what you see? Enjoy watching the strategic areas where you piled snow. Those were some pretty big snow mounds. Your narrative was entertaining as well. All the best!

Don't know what it is about snow plowing, but I love it. I love watching it and wish I could do it with this big machinery or any machinery. Maybe I should switch jobs! Anybody hiring?...lol

Nice setup. We use a 644 with a HLA 6 way blade. Have a safe season, watch for people and their cars, its crazy what they do sometimes!

We always start a half a pass away from sidewalks to cut a relief pass in. Then we go back and clean against the curb. Seems like an extra step but then you don't have to re-clean the sidewalks.

Another great video. I really like the wing capabilities for getting tight into the corners of road turns and parking lot ends - the last parking spot. Love it. Still snowing in our area of Ontario Canada. Since I commented on your last video another 3" here. More to come. Sick of blowing snow on our 700 acre farm. We snow blow here with a Ford TV9070 bidirectional with a Pronovost P1020 blower from Quebec. Has hydronic chute defector with hydraulic cute rotation but didn't get the side discharge option to bypass the chute. With the bidirectional we run it with the workstation "backwards" with the blower right in front of me. Really saves the back. No where near as nice as your set up but compared to our neighbours we can handle a lot with great ease. The right equipment makes a job so much easier, as you can attest. Snow gets boring with age though. LOL, I'm only 44. Still love watching your videos. I'd love to run your set up once just to experience it. Stay warm and keep up the videos. Merry Christmas to you.

I run a kubota l48 with an 8ft flat blade to clear a mobile home park. It clears faster and better than a truck because its so accurate. I wouldn't trade that for a truck ever. Theres a reason machines move snow in these types of areas.

in clearing driveways, the skid would be heads and shoulders above a pickup, but for just clearing a road? im thinking of a pickup wind rowing a road at 15 miles an hour vs a skid. every machine has it advantages.

@fluorcyl6112
@fluorcyl6112 4 года назад
We don't really consider ourselves all that lucky. Most people bitch about the snow ... The worst part about it is driving in it! It makes the car slip and slide and skid! It makes it so that when you hit the brake the car won't stop! Plus you have to clear your sidewalks and driveway. It's a lot of physical work! It's nice to have four seasons. It's nice to have the change. Summer, winter. But it can be rough.

I have this same setup for my house I know what people are going to say a bit of overkill but I scrape every inch at a time as it falls but its so much fun to see the look on my neighbors faces the only problem is when I park it behind my house you can see it from the street so I got a tarp to cover it but all I see know is a big blue tarp it makes my SMART car look a little small though thinking about moving up to a Prius what do ya think.

The only downside is that you have gaps you don't want gaps but you have gaps gaps are no good. Gaps are areas where the plow doesn't touch the ground. No big deal I noticed it a lot with some plows has a lot to do with the level of the ground also. But if you look closely at certain blouse they do show that where you would think the plow would touch it doesn't

I would only want to live where it snows if I got to get out and do this kind of work. Being inside a building would drive me nuts but inside that cab sure looks fine! Do you just drive the machine in streets to get to these jobs or must you trailer them to the sites? I would like to see some video on leaving the house, getting to machine, start up and getting to the site. Kind of all the background to the actual job is very interesting. Happy Holidays and thanks for sharing.

@vrcun

How do you adjust the plow for "even" wear of cutting edge? Is there a "give" in the back side of the plow that would compensate for operators' imperfections, or it's simply operators' feel? Also, being 5000 lbs do you only put it into "float" and that's the scraping power of it, or do you need to apply DP? How much plowing can you get out of a set of cutting edges?
@DirtNinja
@DirtNinja 7 лет назад
You want to run it so the hinges of the wings are perfectly perpendicular to the pavement. The is a lot of give in the back so it will move forwards and backwards and also rotate side to side. You do not apply any down pressure. Just the weight of the plow and thats it. You do not put the loader in "float". These cutting edges are carbide. I should get 7x as long of use out of them as "normal" plow cutting edges. It really depends on the use and the operator.

Nice job. We are getting one for me. I work for a small city. The regular plows push everything to the middle of the street, and I have to use a snow bucket that is 8 or about 9 foot . It takes forever to bucket everything around the corner and stack it. But they want to get a 14 foot pusher that is stationary. They can't afford the one you show. That is typical for a city, never enough money. Just like our government. I'm just asking you, will this work good enough for me. Now as I said before. Not the one you use. But the one our city is going to buy me for a few thousand dollars. I'm going to be stuck with it if I like it or not. Do you think it will be a waste of money? And will it cause a big problem making a wind row for traffic to go threw when I make my turn around the corner. I will never have enough time to get rid of the wind row hazard. At least I don't know at this time. But, I guess we are supposed to be getting this pease of shi...t anyway. I like the one you have, but unfortunately we can't get it. I'm stuck with a stationary one. Please get back with me on this. I have been plowing for this city for 30 years now, and this is what I get. A kick in the ass. I am out, in 1 and 1/2 years and they can kiss my ass. The next guy can have fun pissing off the tax payers. Thanks for teasing me on your beautiful investment. I'm going to be stuck with this garbage. I can't wait to retire! That was a great video. I'll give you one hint on what city I work for. It's in Walworth county Wisconsin. And it is not the Highway Department. It's about 7,000 population. But it's probably 1/3 more if you count you know who. Can't say on here. But that is my hint on where and what city I work at. You guess. Owe! one thing I forgot to mention, I use a 444 John Deer. Will that push a block of snow, or will I have to pull out a couple of times? If I pull out, I will make a wind row right in the way of traffic. Right? Thanks!
@DirtNinja
@DirtNinja 7 лет назад
That should work. But once you fill up the pusher just like the bucket you will make windrows.

Dirt Ninja oh nice, im trying to convince my buddy to buy one of these, showed him a few of your vids, he isnt paid a flat rate, he's contracted to do a lot of the larger parking lots around town, sometimes he has to pay someone to help him get them done, he doesnt like to do that because then he makes less money over all after repairs and what not.

whats the opinion on the kage plow on the skid steer
@DirtNinja
@DirtNinja 7 лет назад
They are ok. Not the best but certainly not the worst.
@buffalostate1
@buffalostate1 7 лет назад
what dont u like about them?
@vrcun
@vrcun 7 лет назад
1. The gap between the plow and Kage system is too large in my opinion. I think it's 3 or 4" on each side. No need for a gap that large. Everything is so slippery when working with snow that a simple wiggle would put it into right spot. 2. Even grade 8 bolts on the "hooking system" snap, but that may be an operator error, not sure, but I think they could be larger. 3. The angle bracket that holds the rubber in place needs to be bigger and have a second hole instead of little nipple because once you hit a harder snow pile while stacking, the rubber gets bent backwards and becomes headache to put it back or otherwise it will not contain the snow due to point number 1. 4. Side shoes should be larger and "flippable" to make it more cost effective. 5. Back side moldboard paint should be mat rather than glossy to prevent light pollution to the operators' eyes. Otherwise is a great plow. Tough. Paint holds well. Cutting edge wears perfectly even.
@DirtNinja
@DirtNinja 7 лет назад
They can be difficult to put the box on and off. The biggest problem is the hydraulic lines. Make them to long and they will drag on the ground when plowing. Make them too short and the operator will probably rip them right out when tilting forward to hook and unhook to the box. Overall they are a good plow. I would recommend them.

@Paul Collinsworth just because he's a kid doesn't mean he's not great at his job.... don't over complicate plowing because it ain't hard lol I've been doing it for 5 years and there's not much to know... move the snow, put piles in the right spot and don't hit anything. Pretty obvious he's in a wide open parking lot with no one around other than his workers so speed isn't an issue and when moving that much snow, you're gonna have to go over some clean areas to bring the snow elsewhere as maybe they don't want any piles in the actual lots taking up space.
