First we add a full stainless steel cat-back exhaust system, BUT...in the process, we find a trick for immediate, FREE POWER that anyone can do! Reducing weight, less wear on flexi-pipe, and much better exhaust flow. Much sooner turbo spooling = much sooner torque!
The FREE HORSEPOWER TRICK has been described by some, as a way for Ford to easily increase power on newer models and charge more money, without actually making any new technical changes to the engine.
My theory is that Ford wishes there to be a specific amount of horsepower difference between the 2.0L and the 3.2L. If anyone knows the answer, I would be thankful to hear it and will update this description.

Customer truck, but yes...it's cool. Next is a tuning chip. Expecting delivery in about 10 days or so. ;-) Next video! How are you doing?

Shame you couldn't do a dyno before and after to show the difference. IMO the biggest holdup was the gasket in the exhaust. Just put it through an online calculator 1.5" diameter = 1.7 sq inches. 2.5" diameter = 4.9 sq inches. That really cleared it's throat
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 2 года назад
Yes...I agree. Just absolutely NO dyno that I'm aware of on this island. Thanks for the calculation and information. When you see it in these numbers, it shows a far greater difference that simply 1.5" to 2.5". Absolutely right! I have a friend with the 3.2 liter and trying to convince him it's also worth having a look.

This brought up an interesting question. Does your pajero have a cat? My 95 NJ pajero was not equipped from factory with a cat . My next project is moving the intercooler. I am thinking to go front mount but need to think that through I seen a mod done but the have to cut through for pipes

Not a f150 raptor. :). But the ranger raptor. The big raptor has a 3.5l 450 hp engine . ranger raptors a potent small truck . New toy for you in the the province? I hope the pajero survived the journey .

Thanks for that! You are 100% correct! I will fix this. This is a customer's car. I still have the Pajero and all good, but the rubber inside the crankshaft pulley (harmonizer) just fell out. So...next video will be THIS. ;-)
@pmphone2057
@pmphone2057 3 года назад
That's on the crank pulley isn't it? Thankfully that should not be a bad job. I keep thinking of silly projects out of boredom . 2.8 Cummins ISF swap was a thought. I wish there were some mods for this. That intercooler should have an engineered upgrade available. Not finding anything.

I'm sure they are all the same and it's a kind of gimmick. For example, you pay a couple thousand for a 'performance package' and all they have to do is remove this restricter and charge the customer.

I would now like to see a dyno of original back pipes with original and tuned gasket! And then compared with full back pipe replacement. LMAO By the way. What's good diameter for DPF back pipes? See 2,5"-3"-4". And by the way. Did you check the other gaskets as well? Are there any more, before the DPF that are restricted?
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 2 года назад
I would also liked to have tested on a dyno, but I really doubt there is one on this island. The turbo outlet where it bolts to the exhaust flange is slightly smaller than 2.5"...guessing 2.4", so no point for any larger and in terms of space underneath, no reason to make things tight fitting. The biggest power gain was simply taking a grinder to the stock gasket. As we installed a straight, one-piece pipe, I didn't bother looking at the other gaskets, but they were probably the same. We didn't mess with anything above the exhaust / turbo meeting flange area. These engines are SUPER temperamental to system modification. Thanks for the terrific questions! I'll take a peek at the original exhaust for those other flange gaskets.
@henriwolbrink
@henriwolbrink 2 года назад
@@offgridislandfamily Thanks for your great response too. And yes it wouldn't be more than logic that both seals (in and out of DPF/Cat are the same. By the way. There are also way to calculate real rear wheel performances. By just measuring weight and time. Just find most flat track and average both way results. No direct Dyno measurements needed. I actually prefer real road values. As dynos more often then none also use correction factors.
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 2 года назад
@@henriwolbrink Well...again. I did probably 30 test runs as I was also testing a tuning chip. However, the fact is that 0-100km/h time was reduced from 11+ seconds to right on 9 seconds.
@henriwolbrink
@henriwolbrink 2 года назад
@@offgridislandfamily Perfect. Tools like DashCommand can give you a good insight. Never exact performance. But great to calculate before and after difference in percentages. Still curious about DPF seal on intake. But as you mentioned. It's more logical that it's the same than that it would be different.
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 2 года назад
@@henriwolbrink Can you describe more the DPF? If it doesn't look like a major risk to any super-sensitive looking system, then maybe I will crack it open and do a video on that. Maybe you already know a RU-vid video on this? Cheers!

@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 3 года назад
ABSOLUTELY! I'm guessing it's intended to make a larger performance difference between the 2.0 and 3.2 engines. They don't want it to be close. Maybe...
