I have 300,00 on my C13 in my 2006 KW T800 quad axle dump truck (which I bought new and change my oil at 10,00 miles) and I have had zero problems other than the exhaust manifold bolts breaking because of the weight of the twin turbos weight. They need to do a recall and install one big single turbo and it would be so much better for many reasons.
I just got another international with an IS Cummins 500 horses. The one with the C13 is up for sale.it has 987k on the odometer. It was recently overhauled in 2010 at Thompson cat.still junk.gutless oil slinging junk motor.had one actuator replaced in 2011, and in august 2013, I replaced the high speed turbo.today, it has a cracked exhaust manifold, and a bad blow by problem. Using a gallon of oil once every other week.i can't afford to give it away.i will take $10k cash right now for it.
Junk! Turbos have to be replaced every year, shitty actuator problems, check engine light flashing, its a piss poor motor. About as shitty as 4ck peek 3 caterpillar of the early 90s but pulls better.i got an 06 international and I want to do a C15 swap.make that 6NZ swap.but the dealer said it would be too expensive. Smh oh well I guess I'll just trade it for a Fitzgerald freightliner with 60 series Detroit
I bought mine new in 05. Turbos have 950,000 miles after being replaced under warranty @ 249,000 miles. Overhauled it @ 1,000,000. Pulls the hills well, I'm amazed at the trucks I pass on Monteagle when I have 54,000 in the trailer.
Had turbos replaced on mine three times. KCB 430 horse C13. I had it sleeved at 550k miles. Got another 600k out of it before the blow by issues got worse.had an oil cooler fail back in October last year and it was about as much as I could stand. Now I have an 09 Peterbilt with an ISX-15 Liter 500 horse Cummins. Caterpillar made a goofy mistake when they developed the C13. The C15 6NZ is the only way to go if it's a Caterpillar engine.
