This song. This woman. This performance is a treasure. Thanks so much for sharing. I also want to mention I love this era of Cat Power her hair in her face, the youth in her voice. Which doesn't mean I don't love her later and current period. It's a case study at how effortlessly Chan Marshall reinvents herself. So authentic and true to her art not being pulled in by the commercial blackhole and the limelight. What an enduring Artist.
Jim White is one of the best drummers on this planet, to criticise his excellent *purposefully off-beat* drumming on this song only shows how little you know about music and drumming.

Yeah, that's my problem. It's purposefully off-beat drumming. In my OPINION(people can have those) it doesn't serve this song in the least. Maybe I shouldn't have called the guy a terrible drummer, cus to be fair I haven't heard much of his work. If I knew every indie expert would come and attack me because "I don't get it" I probably would have something worse ;) Anyway, let people have an opinion folks, I'm sure you have them about music too, means you might know more about music and drumming
This has spawned a ton of angsty styled voices still lingering on today. Feist, pamplemousse, Coeur de Pirate...Irritating. Feels like they deliberately want to sound weak.
