Cataclismo is fantastic! The LEGO-like build-you-own-castle mechanics meshes really well with the They Are Billions-style tower defense RTS. Presentation is also really top notch. Just a well-made game that iterates on the They Are Billions formula really uniquely. Glad to see you covering it!
You're definitely drawing the right conclusions with regards to building techniques and attackable faces. (Notably, the impact of a lower block being destroyed and potential collapses up top depending on whether or not you built staggered upwards or not.)
Oh, the kindest of Dragons! I thank you sincerely for the gem you uncovered for me! After seeing just 15 minutes of the gameplay I went on, bought it fir myself and spent 5 hours playing! Much love for the discovery! ❤
thanks for covering this game. Im really drawn to the micro details of construction that might make a tower/wall survive incidental damage and not get its defenders injured. also I'm curious about how to stitch staircases into the walls without introducing weakness. I've really liked your attention to detail and ascetics :)
tip! when you hover the mouse over a unit, their entire attack radius displays different colors! green means their relevant height bonus applies when striking a unit in that tile, grey means that tile is in range but the height bonus doesn't apply, and red means that tile is actually blocked from the unit's LoS but is otherwise within range! hope this helps!
This looks absolutely delightfull, thank you for putting it on my radar! I would love to see more of this on the channel, either continuing the current run or delving more into the campaign side of things.
already have 17 hours in this game after buying it over a week ago, feels like ive played it much longer, one of those games that surprisingly doesnt take as long as it feels, but isnt boring at all below are a bunch of tips i can think of while watching through the video edit: you can click and hold a box over your buildings then click remove hotkey twice, or double click, but be careful or else you might destroy every single 2 wide stone wall on your screen. edit edit: we play very very differently in endless, i focus on making a low 1 wide 5 tall wall all around with merlons, so its double reinforced, and never fight on the ground, perhaps exhibitions into the dark are not such a death sentence edit edit edit: hover over the military units, and look at the ground at their range, green ticks are with their bonus, grey is neutral, red they cannot attack, blue is rain causing loss of accuracy edit edit edit edit: you can build over resources like wood, stone, and iron, just have to be high enough, stone is low so you can build over and build your quarry deeper into the resources for higher yield
All the names in this game are spanish pronunciation. Hogar means "home", Iris is of course "iris", but it could also refer to the rainbow, which we crudely refer to "iris bow"(Arcoiris). Perla means "pearl"... lots of stuff like that, interesting that they're putting the spanish pronunciation at the front :D
@@l0rf I know I know, but Im so used to english being the norm, even as a spanish native speaker myself I tend to prefer to keep games in english because translations usually are horrible. More often than not games will translate names and places, etc. And it ends up sounding horrible. I am so glad this game, made by spanish people afaik, is keeping the spanish nomenclature even in the english translation, cause it makes it sound much more authentic and original
I believe her name is pronounced like that because the whole game is themed in Spanish and thats the way you say Iris in Spanish. It's pronounced like the "i" in Ingles, which is to say like the english "E" sound. Digital Sun is located in Valencia, Spain.
this is the other game i've just been waiting for my aavak play on! they seemed to have been very intentional with the ability to make The Pretty. plus it has arches! that said? @2:15 "in this world, oxygen is not quite as free of a resource"...... REALLY, AAVAK? REALLY?? "NOT INCLUDED" WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!! :-D
"200 oxygen a minute? What are they doing in there?" Breathing, probably. Edit: I really like how the devs incentivized proper looking structures by giving merlons a huge toughness boost for using them to cap walls.
I'd say that Oxygen not Included is one of those that really nailed their branding as every other game since that mentions needing oxygen has it pop into my head. And I've not even played ONI extensively myself!
Time to sprint and catch up with a series again! This seems to be a fine game, but one bit of criticism I do have is that everything seems to use the same color palate and visual/animation style. There were a few times throughout this video when I could not immediately tell whether something was an enemy, one of your soldiers, or a worker delivering resources.
1:21:00 if you raise it up, couldn't you just use some long pieces to make the flooring to cover the gap left by the shorter stone supports negating the need for wood in the construction?
This is a game that's on my radar. Not sure why, but It's giving me stone-hearth vibes. Maybe it's the building. I think I'm going to lose £19.99 in a week or so.
Except its not enough, its weird calling it "a love letter" when this game is inferior to both games in it's curent state lol. It's just an early access game, it could be amazing or horrible at full release
