CATACOMBS OF ROME-CREEPY, BIZARRE, UNFORGETTABLE! (With Capuchin Bone Crypt)

This will probably be one of the eeriest and bizarre videos you'll watch, especially when you see the Capuchin Crypt, where the bones of 3,700 Capuchin monks are arranged in various artistic ways as a tribute to the dead. It was not something I'll ever forget. Our next stop was the Catacombs of San Callisto where up to a half a million bodies were buried because Christians at that time were being persecuted and could not be buried in regular cemeteries. The Basilica of San Clemente isn't a catacomb, but a richly decorated three-tiered church that has its origins from the 1st century. We got to see the top level which is from the early 12th century.

At last someone who´s been there too! I´ve been in 1998 at 18 years old, as a school trip to Rome (I´m from Germany) and it was spooky at the time, but only a few years later the memory actually started to haunt me. And the quote really hit me hard at the time. And now again. To think how far I have come since then, on my way to becoming one of them, that is a creepy feeling once again! Then I was an 18 year-old girl, and now? I especially remember the skeleton with the scythe at the ceiling and the monks in habit, standing up against the wall. And the crosses on the floor, that was for some reason just as creepy as the skeletons watching over them. Beautiful place, but creepy place!

I was just at the capuchin crypts two weeks ago and it’s arguably one of the most beautiful things I’ve personally ever seen. A sad fact that wasn’t mentioned in this video though is that between the years 1800 and 1900 (I think it was 1874) the Catholic Church established that artworks such as what was done in the capuchin crypts weren’t allowed anymore, which wasn’t all that surprising since at the time many found the crypts lacked taste and pushed it too much. This means that all preservation and restoration is impossible, so any bone fragments that have fallen can’t be put back and what remains can’t be protected. Eventually this crypt won’t exist anymore, so we should try and visit them while we still can. There really is nothing else quite like the capuchin crypts.

@angieh4534
@angieh4534 3 года назад
@@FiddlinWithYourCerebellum Let the dead bury the dead,” in response to a disciple who wanted to spend time at home before committing himself to the Lord. Jesus said, “‘Follow me.’ But the man replied, ‘Lord, first let me go and bury my father.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God’” (Luke 9:59-60). This man may have wanted to fulfill the oldest son’s duty to bury the father, to be near the father in order to obtain an inheritance, or to remain near the body of his father for up to one year to rebury the bones, a practice of some Jews at the time. In any event, Jesus’ answer makes clear that this request would have involved putting tradition or the disciple’s own desires ahead of serving Jesus. But who are “the dead” whom Jesus referred to as being the ones to bury their own dead? The word dead is used in this passage in two different senses. It is apparently a paradox and is used very effectively. The Jews used the word dead often to express indifference toward a thing or to express that something has no influence over us. To be dead to the law (Romans 7:4), to be dead to sin (Romans 6:11), means that the law and sin have no influence or control over us. We are free from them and act as though they are not. So people of the world are dead to Christ. They do not see His beauty, nor do they hear His voice or desire to follow Him. Only His “sheep” will do those things (John 10:27). The people of the world are those whom the Savior describes here as the (spiritually) dead who should bury the (physically) dead. Let people, He says, who are not interested in My work, and who are “dead in sin” (Ephesians 2:1), take care of the dead. Your duty is now to follow Me. While Scripture, and Jesus, are clear that we are to honor our parents (Ephesians 6:2), we have to understand that Jesus is to come first, and this would have been especially so in this instance, that is, with a direct command from the Lord. Peter, Andrew, James, John, and Matthew recognized the Lord and followed Him at once (Matthew 4:18-22; 9:9). The thing to which the man who wanted to bury his father was called was of more importance than any earthly consideration, and, for that time, Christ chose to require of the man a very extraordinary sacrifice to show his sincere attachment to Him. As regards the people of the world, nothing is more important than responding to the gospel. This requires that the gospel be preached (Romans 10:14), so once we make the decision to follow Jesus and preach His good news, we must deny dead, worldly pursuits and comforts, and do the Lord’s work. Jesus wants followers, not professors, and those who are spiritually alive will be instruments in the Lord’s hands to call others to new life in Christ.

This just helps to disclose the secrecy and Satanic rituals of the Roman Catholic Church. This church is not the church of God it’s demonic and denies God’s truth of his Holt Spirit in Christ and in those who receive him as the Son of God, God with us in Holy Spirit. These false institutions are idols and not houses of worship. We must worship God in spirit and in truth. God is not in them, Jesus said, destroy this temple and “I will raise it in three days. He was not speaking of a man made bldg. You can’t worship him in a natural bldg. but a spiritual one, that is your body the true temple of God where God will come in and live. Be blessed

These are all Capuchins, which is a very ancient order and for which Padre Pio belonged whose body is incorrupt. They were a very austere order. It is a crypt, not meant to be used as a place of visitation by the whole world.
@someguy9571
@someguy9571 4 года назад
Not really. Relics were a thing in Biblical times too, and just like with more recent saint relics, miracles have been attributed to coming in contact with them (Biblical examples include: the bones of Elisha raising a man from the dead, the aprons and handkerchiefs of Paul healing sicknesses, etc.) The saints were the friends of God, people filled with His Spirit, and so one way we show love and respect for them is by oreserving their relics. Granted, the way relics of saints are displayed in these catacombs is kinda weird.
@clavicleofcernunnos
@clavicleofcernunnos 4 года назад
Those are not saints' relics in the Crypt of the Capuchins, they are bones of Capuchin Friars placed there by their brothers. There are a number of other Catholic ossuaries and mummy displays throughout Italy, and other parts of Europe. But if you want to think about something more unethical, many bones from the Roman Catacombs were once mistakenly believed to be martyrs' relics (this turned out to be untrue) and cartloads of bones were shipped all over middle Europe to replace relics destroyed by Protestants in the Reformation. Many of these bones were built into full skeletons decorated with armor and jewelry. Most of these displays were dismantled and the bones buried after the Counter Reformation, but a few prominent examples of these "Catacomb Saints" still exist in Catholic Churches scattered across Austria, Switzerland and Germany.

There's literally another city under Rome. It was started under the Romans and continues still today. Rome may look little, but it is actually massive. You can understand why we have hard times in building the metro system of the City. Wherever you dig there's a chamber, an archeological site and the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage always steps in to quarantine the zone, map everything and decide if we can continue digging or not.

It is full of people who cannot identify with a historical-cultural context different from today's, and do not understand the greatness of these religious symbols. The same language spoken in distant places slowly differs, the same for the way of living religion, as a European it seems to me that in North America many believers resemble the mother of "the binding of Isaac" 🫤

I totally agree, Cindy. I was brought up a Catholic, it seems to me it's about death culture. Just the things they've done with these dead bodies is sick. Satanic! And then opened it up to the public as though it's something good? They've shown their hand in my opinion. And the chirpy-voiced guy narrating the video, trying to make it all seem so harmless, sheesh!

Revelation 1:13-‬15 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

This literally reminds me of that movie jeepers creepers ... All these catacombs of bones that are all clean and polished , stacked in orders .. !? How would so many die and then what happened ? These tunnels of bones are clean , they didn't stack dead bodies because they ran out of bariel options !? I sorta get a great reset vibe , just another his-story? Sorry, not gonna lie, alot of these could be lies & cover ups . .. I feel like Paris catacombs and the like would be so hard to breathe in , imagine getting lost ?! They just don't feel right !

These crypts are disgusting. I hope the catholic church doesn't get paid for these "tours", they can try to explain it all they want. All I no for sure is that Catholics ran rough shot for 680 years and their victims have been estimated to be around 50mil. These are the bodies of those victims, they obviously weren't Burnt to ash, and one can only imagine the reasons why bones would be so clean of flesh and all of them, beside the bodies of those to be of obvious papal rank, be completely dismembered. Why have they obviously treated some bodies different then others, taking great care in keeping entire bodies together, In some cases, but in others completely dismembering them? Ya no when I'm eating a chicken, that's the only time I ever rip legs or wings off of any torsos, or pick clean, meat, off bones.to me it almost looks like those bones have been boiled. Ok...so.. Ill give that we don't no the whole story about these catacombs but I think it's long past time that we got truthful answers. The inquisitions lines up with the dark ages. For about the first 480 years western Europe was a lot colder, then today making food harder to come by. However we never really hear the papal members complain of the effects of hunger.. but we know from ice cores that it happen, we have some historical input about normal people having food issues or problems with crops, that was followed by about 200 years of warm up. Which would make a practice like that, something that if it were being done out because of there just not being enough, would no longer be needed as agriculture practices grew in conjunction with better climate for farming,as that 200 year period of upward trajectory happened climately and technologically.. I do no that 1 of the rule of a papal members during this 680 year time was that they couldn't ingest "animal meat" and Fridays were days for fish.. ok so they are suggesting that there is another "kind" of meat that isnt animal meat, during this time there was animals and people.. that area of land isn't Florida, so no crocks to blame. Look, alls I'm sayin is this shit is super weird. There's a reason so many people were terrified of an inquisition coming to their areas, and the church even made it known that they would take bribes to keep inquisition practices away from some towns, as if they were the mafia or something. All they had to do was accuse you of reading the wrong book or being seen with a wrong person, let alone holding a bible in your own hands- and they would kill you. They said they tortured ppl into to confessions mostly but really that was the one thing they claimed to have done the most of but really didn't practice very often at all. Why give someone the chance to be tortured into confession, inorder, to be forgiven, if the plans for that person have already been decided? When someone was found to be guilty of heresy, your destiny had already been written in the churchs eyes. No need to hear a confession if your accuser knows the accusation is bullshit, already... Idk.. again I think about reasons one would decide to hide a bunch of dismembered bodies under their floor boards... Which were hid from the public, until the piles were found then they formulated A reasonable sounding unprovable excuse, that was just believed by the public?REALLY? No one else questions this shit??? 3 .... I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
