I'm 78 this July 2023 and had laser surgery with a lens in 2016 years ago. They did not say there were any different lenses just gave me an ID card that says Acry Sof IQ Model SN60WF with UV Blue Light filter. I told them I wanted to be able to see distance clearly as I do a lot of photography. But now each eye sees two images. When I look at the moon, I see an additional image of the moon overlapping. I see two moons offset and overlapping each other like a fingernail effect. Right after the operation, the Dr said I had liquid under my eyes and did not want to decide or do anything until after it cleared, but this has never happened. What can I do?

Had aphakic congenital cataract surgery when i was 5 months old, than i had IOL implant when i was 7. Got IOL explantation with re-implantation last year (35 years old) for correction of very high myopia, Got implanted the Alcon MA60MA with -3 OD, -4OS. Surgery went very well, but recovery time was a bit longer. So far, i`m very satisfied with the result of the correction.

I recently had cataract surgery done. I had the dropless cataract surgery done and I chose monofocal lenses set for distance implanted. No regrets and my sight is just fine. Just need glasses to read small/fine print. In my opinion a healthy dialogue with your eye doctor is paramount and educate yourself before you choose a proper lens for your eyes. Also, keep in mind that a relatively healthy eye is required for best results regardless of the lens you choose. Take care and good luck to everyone. Thank for the video. It is appreciated.

I realize that this reply is 11 months old but I just had the same dropless cataract surgery in March of 2024 and I also choose the monofocal lenses as I wanted clear mid range to distance vision and since I still often drive at night I did want to make sure I as little glare as possible. The actually improvement was really noticeable as I never noticed any blurry vision at all after the operations which were 2 weeks apart. I had extreme far sightedness (+6.00 in the right and +6.25 in the left with a slight astigmatism is the cornea in the left eye and the very little astigmatism in the right eye. For me it was a game changer as I still wear glasses but require no correction in the right and a very slight +0.25 in the left. Yes I still wear glasses but it is the fact it is I want the bifocal of +2.25.

Thank you Dr Audrey for sharing the information on Cararact survey. I live in Australia and my cataract surgery has been a failure. I had to disclose all my medications to my Opthamolagist prior to surgery as well I informed him that I once wore contact lense. I had contact lens for several years and then went to glasses as contact lenses were starting to aggravate my eyes. (As a fireghter smoke and dust became a problem) I am 64 Years old and had surgery 2 years ago. When I wore contact lenses the right eye was for long distance and the left eye for short distance. This worked a treat for many years until my eye became irritated. When I had the cataract surgery the surgeon did the opposite with my left eye for up close vision and my right eye for long distance. With medications the medication I was asked to stop take several medication tablets. I was on metformin and blood thinning drugs and a prostate drug called Duodart. This has a Alpha Blocker in the tablet. The surgeon never had me stop this drug prior to surgery. I have since found out that it is not advisable to have cararact surgery while taking this drug. As my left eye healed after the surgery my eyesight was extremely bad. Then the surgeon had then did further surgery by putting another lenses over the top of the previous lenses. Since the cataract surgery I suffer from extreme dry eye syndrome. My question to you Dr Audrey is. Could being on my prostate medication caused the surgery to be unsuccessful? Please excuse my spelling and grammar as I don't have a computer and the comments is being written on my cell phone. One of the many difficulties I have since the cataract surgery. Warm regards Gary.
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon Год назад
I am sorry to hear about your experience. There is a specific condition called floppy iris syndrome that can be caused by prostate medication causing poor pupil dilation and increased complexity of cataract surgery. I can't comment on if that's what caused the complication in your case, but I hope you find this information helpful.

@@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon Thank you Dr Audrey for your response. I have been trying to find a good eyedrop. I have had Rexon-Eye treatment but it was unsuccessful. And currently I have just had my third treatment of "IPL Dry Eye Treatment" But still no relief. I am aware of a product called Tyrvaya which is used as a nose spray. It currently isn't available in Australia, but I was wondering if you have information on its success. I have kind of become desperate to get some relief from my dry eye condition. Quality of life is poor at the moment. I would give up 5 years of my life to have my former eyesight returned prior cataract surgery.

My mother had cataract surgery a few years ago. I was noticing in her paperwork that there was a procedure that can be done where a special lens is put in so you no longer need readers. Is that true? My mother did not get it done I think because she had macular degeneration. She told me that she did not notice any change and the eye surgeon, her doctor, said he was disappointed that he did not see much change in her vision either.

I need info on post-op sleep routine after bilateral same-day cataract surgery. For instance, I am told to sleep "prone"--is that completely flat on my back? How can a person with GERD and IBS possibly do this? And are both eyes given a shield to wear at night? Any shields at all? Thank you for your videos and the opportunity to ask questions. I hope you can respond. My HMO (and my schedule!) opts for bilateral same-day, but there's very, very little info on this online.

Hi...Dr. Audrey Tai, As it is very important for an Eye Surgeon to have these skills such as Steady Hands and Nearly Perfect Vision in BOTH Eyes AND the use of Microscopes during an eye operation (especially for a Cataract Surgery), please enlighten me on How is an Opthalmologist ABLE TO SEE CLEARLY when performing a Cataract Surgery if he/she(the Opthalmologist) is BESPECTACLED* ?? *If it's required for the eye surgeon to remove his/her glasses to look into the microscopes during the eye surgery)
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon

That’s a really good question. During surgery, eye surgeons have the options of either keeping their glasses on (if needed) or taking off their glasses and adjusting the oculars of the microscope to their glasses prescription. Either way works.

Hi Dr. Audrey Tai, Q1) Is a Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery a much better option than a phacoemulsification cataract surgery for a patient with moderate PSC (Posterior Subcapsular Cataract)?? Q2) Can PCO (Posterior Capsule Opacification) be prevented before a cataract operation??
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon

I recommend Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery for specific conditions. You can learn more about this topic in this video 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7nPhrcH-rd4.html PCO can not be prevented prior to cataract surgery, but it can be treated with a simple procedure called YAG capsulotomy after the surgery. I hope this helps.

People with a history of cornea transplant or implant surgery may have more inflammation after cataract surgery, and potentially need to be on post operative anti inflammatory drops longer.

@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon Год назад
Scaring around the intraocular lens implant can occur after cataract surgery, causing cloudy vision. It is treated with a laser procedure that improves vision fairly quickly. There are other rare conditions that can cause other types of IOL cloudiness. An eye exam with a qualified eye doctor is needed to determine the cause and treatment for IOL clouding.

Maybe a silly question, but does sneezing affect a newly installed lens?
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon
@eyechannelbyeyesurgeon Год назад
This is not a silly question at all. It takes time for the implant to be fully secure in the eye by scar formation of the capsular membrane that supports the implant. Therefore, I instruct patients to avoid any strenuous activity that can cause significant sudden head movement for 1 week after surgery. So in theory, immediately post op sneezing can potentially cause the implant to move, but this is very unlikely after the eye has fully healed from cataract surgery.

Dry Eye? Here's what I did to stop MBG, Ocular Rosacea, & chronic dry eye. (1) use distilled water (2) rub my eyes/face to improve circulation and encourage fat flow (3) 3 eggs a day 2-3 ounces of fish a day. In shower put the warm water on my closed face or at least a few minutes. I don't like wet compresses. I tried dry compresses, less effective than what I just wrote out. Note: I have/had At Times monocular diplopia due to the swelling consequent to constant eyestrain. The above plus corrective readers seems to work! I don't really understand Why my crystaline lens is aged to the point where it is inflexible, and I really don't understand why the two images of my monocular diplopia consequent to chronic dry eye consequent to meibomian gland dysfunction and occular rosacea and blepharitis resolve to one image with correct lenses but they seem to. That's weird. I don't get it. Advice or ideas are appreciated! 加油!
