When you prepare stingray you need to clean the meat because they urinate through their skin like sharks that’s probably what you were tasting actually 😂
I’m pretty sure you have to clean stingrays immediately. They pee through their skin and when they die that flavor starts going into the meat. I knew when he was letting it sit for that long that he was not gonna have a good time eating that 😌😂
He’s so respectful, he didn’t just kill it randomly, he said that he wanted to kill it quickly. He also sounds really into fishing! Also can we respect the fact that he doesn’t show him killing the animals? And also he helps the poor shark
Congratulations on your 1000000 subscriber I caught Stingray in Southern California before but I never ate him I don’t think we have stingray on the Oregon coast Which are fish a lot 🎣🌿 🌧🏖
Here in Indonesia, we really love stinray(at least some). So we smoked them to get rid of the smells, then we usually deep fried them. Eat it with sambal(chilli sauce), voila it taste real good.
Not sure if someone already pointed this out yet (to lazy to read thru the comments), but rays, for lack of a better word, "piss" through there skin. I happen to love skate, but it has to be cleaned and prepped as soon as you can cause the second it dies it's skin secretes ammonia. So, even just a few hours it can take on the taste, and smell, of days old cat urine. Bon appetit!
One day back in 6th grade, my freind brought fish to school. Everyone at our lunch table were confused because he could not cook the fish. He ate it cold and gave me a piece and I asked what it was. HE SAID SHARK AND I FREAKED!
Filipino here. I boil it first, then remove the skin. Sautee it with lots of garlic, ginger and onions. Add coconut milk, vinegar, black pepper and some fresh cut up chili and also lemon grass. Cook it until the flesh can be pulled apart.
Stingray urinate through their skin, that’s probably why the meat tasted awful. You tainted it cooking it in with the skin. Stingray is actually pretty good if you prepare it right.
...did we all just suddenly just randomly got recommend this video Cause this like 6 months ago and everything else is like at least an hour or a few days

Hi Ace, sting rays taste good but u must know how to cut and clean it. Cut both the wings of the ray and the middle part is not edible. U need to use a knife to clean the slime on the top and bottom of the Ray's wing then wrap it in silver fold with sambal chilli and onions. BBQ it and u will enjoy it. Taste of Singapore which is famous for bbq sambal chilli sting rays. Google under sambal sting ray and u will know how to do it next time u catch a ray.
A wise man should learn from the path's of others. You should of asked ur phone. What's the best way to eat stingray? don't be proud. if u don't know, ask, so u don't waste. Other then that all good. Live and learn thanks.!
The reason of your stingray taste fishy with skin is because you do not wash it with good amount of salt. if you wanna try stingray with skin, here come some tips:- 1) Rub a decent amount of salt on the skin, and wash it 2) Cut it in bigger pieces just like salmon fillet shape by following the pattern of the flesh 3) Always remember skin sides down and pan seared until the skin is crispy then only you flip 5) Make sure the fillet look compleatly dry and crispy on both side ( its key of stingray taste good) 6) Lastly, put in a whole lot of seasoning ( i meant really good amount of seasoning on it), stingray meat doest taste very much and the only special of stingray meat is the texture of it. If your sesonings on the fish is not enough, the taste of the fish is quite bland. 。。 Btw, this is a fun fact. the fin of the stingray are just a combination of Cartilage and Flesh. This meant that, you do not need to debone the fins and if you dare to give it a try, the Cartilage inside the fish is edible and give a good crunch to the fish.
Is it just me or no cause I always find these things every 6 months on my recommended when it’s the middle of the night then I just start watching and watching and can’t stop and just when they catch something so good, and looks so good your thinking Damn I want some food then u eat ur food while he’s eating his, and u say haha I’m eating some good food I don’t care any more but deep inside u do care then when ur finished u go back in ur room and get hungry again and go back to sleep just me ok. Also yes I’m watching this in the middle of the night
DON'T ever apologize for saying a prayer before a meal. Perhaps if more of our young people BELIEVED in God, perhaps we wouldn't be going through ALL THIS CRAP NOW.
in mexico you can buy it, already cleaned without the skin, I use to prepare it with some veggies, shrimp and butter and make tacos with it, look for it we call it "Manta al disco"
I've eaten stingrays a few times deep fried in a batter basically like a scalloped nuggets. It was delicious, not a big fish eater nowadays but I grew up in Florida, seafood was a staple then.
you're righ. If you do want to - or more appropriate need to eat them - you should bleed them out and remove the skin quickly otherwise the urine gets trapped in the flesh and tastes awful. This is the same for all rays and sharks. Personally there are nicer fish in the sea...
That not actually a sting ray it’s called a skate and some restaurants use them instead of scallops, to save money because of how easy they are to catch.
Cutting a stingray is almost like cutting a monkfish or a moonfish. To get a nice fillet you horizontally cut alongside the spine almost like how you were cutting but as close to the spine as possible. Then you want to cut vertically almost to the edges of the pectoral fins just where the meat ends. Then, midway through the stingrays back where the meat ends, you'll know when you reached the end of the meat when you see the pocket of where the organs are, cut vertically till you reach back to the spine. Hope this helps!
My cousin and I went fishing and I caught a 50 lb black drum and we were packing up and we got a hit on one rod so I run over and reel in a stingray. Neither of us were ready for that and we were scared shitless that it would sting us
If you ever buy frozen scallops at a grocery store and it says scallop product, its usually little chunks from the sting ray fins in the shape of a scallop.
Butchered it. And most meat is stringy like that, it is just how you cut it which will hold its form, if that makes any sense. With the grain of the meat vs against the grain. Kinda hard to explain. If i was closer I'd show ya bro. But u got it anyways. Keep on, keepin on. Great vid as always
The reason it takes rly fishy is because stingrays pee out of their skin like sharks so the skin is never good with stingray and it fried it tastes like kalamari
what kind of pole are you using? are you using a normal openface reel and a 7’ pole? i would like a reply plz. cuz im wanting to fish the ocean this coming summer.
John Thompson If you will be inshore fishing any pole that is "medium-heavy" around 6.5-7.5 feet depending on what u are really fishing for. And openface reels are more common than others too
