We do use tack coat (ss1) on most of the jobs but sometimes we do not as the client wants to keep costs down and the patches sometimes are temporary until the larger section gets paved.
As an asphalt company owner you should know that there is no option for not using tack...tack is a must...it is so cheap that it shouldn't even need to be factored into the job costs...you get a 5 gallon bucket from the plant for $25 -$50 and it should last you for multiple jobs. If your local plant wont sell it to you the sealer company you deal with should have their own asphalt "binder" available...it may cost more than tack however
@@Steinlife Tack Coat (ss1) actually costs about $200 for a 5 gallon pail. I have found a supplier I do get it a bit cheaper and currently have a spray unit to spay it as well.
Great video brother, I know absolutely nothing about Asphalt and Concrete lol but it was a nice video to watch, Jeff. :) I've known you since you were 6 and it's always nice to see the new things you do and success in everything you do. :D
Jeff, thanks for answering. I live in Brazil and from last week on I became the one in charge of dealing with "" milions "" of pothole in my hometown, called Patos de Minas. I really enjoyed watching you videos. I'd like to ask you something. I've been to the US many times and noticed the asphalt cracks are filled with a type of black cream.....What is the name of this product? thanks a lot - Cris, from Brazil!
ccgoulart I'm in Canada but I'm sure it's the same products or similar products being used. The crack repair that we do on the roadways here is a crack sealant hot rubberized we use to fill in the cracks. It remains flexible and stops the water from penetrating the asphalt. I will be doing a video on hot rubbering in a few weeks on my channel.
Yeah it was a fairly easy to see the slope but this was also my first RU-vid video which was not as good as my newer videos on my new channel! Thanks for the input and for support!
