In this catch and cook fishing video, we spent two days fishing quite far up the river near Gateshead Stadium just along from friars wharf apartments. Catching mainly Flounder.
I haven’t tried eating flounder from out of the river before so I thought this year I would give it a try and I was quite surprised at how nice it tasted.
So this video turned into a catch and cook video. Enjoy.

tip when cooking the fish mate, nice high heat and a bit of olive oil in before the butter and it stops the butter from burning👍🏼 Also when filleting use a board but put a slightly damp and ringed out hand towel underneath and it will stop it moving about like it did on the sink, makes it much easier to fillet 👌🏻

great video , it is fantastic to see some UK catch and cook videos . I am getting tired of the US ones as they seem to spoil the taste of fish with so much seasoning ,, keep them coming mate and thanks ,,,,,,,,,Dan from Ireland ,,,,

It has to be a big flounder to be worth filleting. The fillets are not as thick as on a nice plaice. Just cut the head off, wash all the guts out, then cook them on the bone. Give them a bit longer cooking than you'd think because they cook slower on the bone. Then fillet them on your plate - less waste!

Its all about the good times and the memories but why oh why did you kill it with lemon, better for taste buds without the extra's haha

I was reading through fishing forms and also a few other websites and apparently you can catch flounders with earthworm (along with other species but flounder is the most prominent). Please can you make a video testing it out

Hi,Garry. What the postcode of this location? Would you like to fishing there. Is it good this time in August? Thanks in advance.
@fishingintheukgarywood
@fishingintheukgarywood 6 лет назад
Hi Elena the post code for here is Ne10 0sb it will take you to the riverside hotel there is a road between the hotel and the apartments down to the river. follow the road along behind the apartments to get to this mark. Not sure what it fishes like in August but there might be a chance of some flounder and eels.

Prob a stupid question but could you catch these as far as Dunston staiths? (asking as my niece has an apartment on the river side very close to there) or is that too far up?
@fishingintheukgarywood
@fishingintheukgarywood 2 года назад
Yes you can catch flounder all the way up to the Scotswood Bridge. I havent fished the staiths myself but heard its quite good for flounder around there.

do i need a license to fish from the tyne?
@fishingintheukgarywood
@fishingintheukgarywood 3 года назад
Not if your fishing the tidal stretch of the tyne for sea fish. You only need a license if you intend on fishing for salmon or sea trout. And a rod licence if your fishing the fresh water part of the tyne.
