We're two days into an Alaskan fishing adventure and have knocked king salmon, pacific halibut and a variety of rockfish and greenling off our lists. In this episode we're harvesting clams and crabs, showing you how to clean them and halibut, and then cooking up an Alaskan seafood feast.

What an an awesome Alaskan adventure! It's been said that the "Spirit of Alaska" is very contagious! You guys are truly catching the Ocean's "Horn of Plenty"! Dungeness Crabs are awesome. Those look smaller then what is caight off the Oregon coast. You just never know with Glacial Ice You mofht her some extra "flavors" Like Mamut , Mastadon etc. You guys are truly "living life"!

I've fished petersburg for 20 years, my parents live there, clean first then boil in sea water for 7 minutes, then eat it hot, so good!

So the ice you pulled out and used is actually called Firn Ice. It is the first step in the formation of glacial ice. Firn ice is about 3 feet of snow compacted into 1 foot of ice, while proper glacial ice is 9 feet of snow or 3 feet of firn ice compacted into 1 foot of glacial ice. Glacial ice is roughly 95% water 5% air, where as firn ice is around 60% water 40% air.

Not to be a dick but the center line on a halibut is literally a line on the halibut skin, you can see it in the video, it is even more apparent on older fish. also a rubberized on the bottom oversized "welcome mat" will stop all that sliding around as will a burlap bag or an old beach towel in a pinch. A weak water/bleach solution scrub down will keep it clean and safe and not smelly for years. Love the catch and cooks! I like it when folks get to see just how good we've got it from NorCal all the way to SW Alaska.

Hey friend, Look up smash fishing. They guy lives on island near England. He forages the clams called razor clams but their long and slim, just like you were digging for butter clams.

seafood always tastes better when you harvest it yourself. I never liked eels until I jacked my own! same with crabs and fluke. there is nothing like hunting them down and spearing them, then pulling in a doormat sized Fluke!

The best and easiest way to clean the butter clams put them in sea water in a bucket. Add 4 table spoons or 1/4 cup corn meal to the water let stand over night . the clams will suck in the corn meal and excrete the plankton form their stomachs. the next morning you have cleaner clams, The corn meal replaces most of the sand and plankton in the clams. team and enjoy!
