Yet another in the series of sea fishing in Cardigan Bay.
This video covers two sessions fished at the Sandilands end of Twywn (filmed on 24.05.23 and 29.09.23). Just like fishing Borth, I came here hoping to catch turbot and small-eyed rays; but once again conditions weren't right for flatfish. The first session was largely uneventful; but a tiny turbot saved the day. The second was mainly about catching as many schoolie bass as possible, but a decent ray was lost. Techniques and rigs are dealt with, together with venue details.

Thank you for sharing this video. This is my local beach. I live in Tywyn. From my experience. The best fishing is from just before low then fish the tide in. I’ve caught a wide range of fish here. From Huss to Gurnard. Ragworm Is the go to bait for most locals. You never know what’s out there. Great video. Thanks again

Locals always do better than visitors - you know the area better through experience! Hoping to visit a good few more times, when I can.

What is a platform @ 07:21?? wow that water is racing away....pt1...pt2 that's what I appreciate with Michaels videos straight forwards advice even when it's gone to pot he still imparts wisdom...that sea didn't half pick up towards the end. Great video once again.

Many thanks for your comments. What I mean by a platform is what's used by coarse anglers (particularly match anglers) to put your seatbox on when sitting out in the water. I use one as a stand for my kit on shallow water sea venues where you have to move your kit with the tide - I not shown that in any of my videos yet. They are quite heavy to carry, so I haven't used one, in this context, for a while!

What a lovely beach to fish from, looked like it should have given you a more sizeable fish . Shame on the lost rig with a potential ray on, the joys of fishing mate!! appreciate your efforts sir 👍🏼

Yes - I'll be back and hopefully do better with the flat fish and not lose rays! Thanks for watching and commenting again.

Hello Michael Well done , conditions were a bit tough , but you found the fish,, I tend to agree the second fish had all the hallmarks of a ray... Thank you and best wishes. 🎣

Yes - its a long way for me to travel, so I'm having to fish in all conditions, or not fish at all. Hence results may not be as expected, when you can't match fishing time with ideal tides / weather etc. Anyway, as long as I don't lose too many, but still catch something, I'm reasonably happy! Thanks for watching and commenting again Michael.

great video, im up here myself during the summer and been looking places to fish, does it get busy in the summer with holiday makers? and also where did you get your ragworm is there any local tackle shops

Hoping to be back their soon to fish other marks. At the moment, I'm avoiding the area in the tourist season, as I expect it get packed due to the holiday parks nearby. Best to bring your own bait; but I do get some ragworm from a couple of tackle shops in Aberystwyth. I think its imported from Holland?! Good luck.
