Skunked after a week on the beach and jetties. I'm definitely not the fisherman my father was but I think he would be happy I even came down here on my own. I'll be back soon, hopefully smarter and more patient for this fishery.

Just a standard fish finder rig with a size 3/0 or 4/0 circle hook is fine..

Now mate. There are massive schools of reds right now and the flounder are into their migration so its a perfect time for us.

Galveston sucks

Ain't no fish in galveston that's why I drive 3hrs south its a totally different game.Never will you see the amount of fish around galveston that coop catches.Drive south 3-4 hours and hang on fish everywhere

@@gsppuffer i only spent a year in galvatraz, but caught fish every day from the beach.

@@gsppuffer I fish Galveston couple times a week and have had amazing days of every type of fish.

If you want reds, line up a guide in Louisiana. I did it once in my life and it was epic!!!! It is expensive for sure, but it is a blast. Was ages ago (25yrs) when we did it out of Venice, LA. Boated just outside the mouth of the jetties, and fished the beach side. Caught more reds than you can shake a stick at!!! 😉

9-10ft rods with 6,000 size reels.

Penn 10ft battalion rod paired with a penn fierce III reel is under 200$. If you want a little better reel you can get a better model penn and still be around 300$ paired with the rod.

@@ThresherFishing Just a quick follow up question. What type line are you using (mono/braid, fishing line weight, leader line)? I haven't surf fished before but it's on my bucket list to do. Great video, very fun to watch. I am an avid Rockport area fishing fanatic in the bays. I am painfully aware of the learning process/time it takes to learn how to find fish there and the real possibilities of not catching at all on some days. 😁. So seeing your productive Texas surf fishing video was very welcome indeed and got me amped up to give it a try!!!
