My old grandfather used to tell me, Frank Abagnale is worthy of people's respect and admiration, but should never forget he is a criminal and did bird for it...Frank is an interesting person, what he did in 5-6 years many could not pull off in 5-6 lifetimes...He is a good talker as well and quite witty at times

Paula Parks was a new Delta stewardess, with whom FA had a huge attraction to. He was able to smooth-talk her parents into inviting him to live with them. Mark Zinder was a publicist and booking agent for FA early in FA career. Parks and Zinder contributed a LOT to the book, that shows most of the FA story is a hoax. Released in December 2020, The book 'The Greatest Hoax on Earth: Catching Truth, While We Can" by Alan C. Logan (Author), Paula Parks (Foreword), Mark Zinder (Foreword The book very thoroughly investigated the life of FA, and clearly shows what parts of the FA book are fiction, and which could be verified. With hundreds of receipts and convincing data, Logan clearly shows that FA has perpetuated a great hoax, and most of his story are absolutely lies upon more lies.

From 44min on how not to get into a trap of doing something wrong and pay a price for that. I’d like to call it a 3 min rule to have time before taking action. I see this applies not just to commit crime but to make any decision so that one can avoid making mistakes - by simply taking time to be quiet and be aware of the situation one is in. I am into spiritual path to live life by being sincere and truthful, eg, Zen. There are ideas like this that we may benefit from - example; when one gets upset or angry, but if we can sustain to be quiet for 90 seconds, the anger may just dissipate. (this, I heard from from Jill Bolt Taylor - stroke of insight). To me, it like a biological dimension of getting to know ourselves - who we are and why we do what we do. In short, catch yourself if you can!

Sometimes calling a bluff can work. I went on to survive a machine gun robbery by four bandits later on in this trip but my main concern at that Frank A. Time were the two Guatemalan kids who were hiding in the luggage storage. They paid the bus driver to cross into Mexico. They were about 13/14 years old. Hotter than Hades and just couldn’t imagine those poor kids roasting in the hold. What could I do? Rat out the kids and the bus driver? No... just pulled a Frank...

Frank himself for five years he was on the run and everywhere he went he bounced checks and paperhanged. In 1969 he was spotted by a flight attendant who was actually an INTERPOL ghostwriter and they tailed him to Marseille and the suburb of Montpellier where he was caught. Frank spent time in the hole at Perpignan Prison where he got extradited to the United States and received 12 years in Atlanta. most of the scenes in Catch Me If You Can are true some of the names were changed to protect the innocent and to protect the identity of undercover agents. Frank then tried to escape at JFK Airport but got arrested by security when he entered Canada without a passport. he busted out of Atlanta but got sent back in 71 he was freed and then he went to work for the FBI since then he is the president of Abagnale and Associates and is the head of the FBI Bunco Squad with assistance from his son Scott whose job it is to put people who try to copycat Abagnale behind bars. since 71 Frank has made more then 800 arrest most of these crimes were bunco related everything from paperhanging, identity theft, check fraud, check floating, and check washing.

Abagnales idea was very brilliant. I mean hes 16(?) years old and are copilot on an airplane...

Typical a case of existential loyalty. This was ripped apart the moment the judge asked to choose between parents. He couldnt chose either one of them, because he loved them both, so the only answer was: Not chosing any of them, and run away, and stay away as far as possible from that.

He ran away from home, (a divorce) and was on his own at the age of 16,--where in that youthful American mind of the time, anything is possible. He did not earn a scholarship in HS, and public school probably bored him. The pivotal point was running away because of parental divorce. I wonder what he would have done with his life if his parents stayed together, or he never ran away? We can't know that. He may have become great, but I bet the rest of us never would have known about his life.

The bit 22:26 where he tells us that he used a magnetic encoder to encode his own bank details onto the cheque deposit slip card seems a bit strange. From what I understand..... The bank had some type of form used for people to deposit cheques into their own account. At the bottom of the form, attached was credit card type card with magnetic strip....that the bank would presumably then encode with your bank details, so you could then deposit the cheque into the correct account. My question is......surely this is bassically just another bank card........why would the bank issue you with blank bank cards.........for you to have to get encoded at the bank when you want to deposit money. Also........if he then encoded his own details on there......surely the banks encoder would pick up on the fact that the card already had someone elses details on it. Seems strange to me........am I misunderstanding???
@AnthonyGerardiAndroidWare
@AnthonyGerardiAndroidWare 6 лет назад
AndIm JustFerocious. Not a blank card. He's referring to deposit slips that still are there at every bank for anyone to fill out with there info. Now you dont even need them causr a teller will let you swipe your card and fill it out for you. But back than cards werent around much so you out your own acct number on it with the amount and hand that to the teller. Teller would take money and put it in the account you put on the slip. He put his acct number on all the slips so if ppl didny pay attention the teller would read and enter his acct and money would enter his

These are people who are my heroes. The people who had the balls AND the ingenuity to play the system at its own game and at least to some degree, win. I have little intrest in gangster tough guys who make money selling drugs, debt collecting and enforcment, I like the guys who step back a bit and have a look at the system theyre living in and find a way of abusing it. Even though the government and banks know the criminals want to, even though the government have the intel and technology, the criminals STILL manage to beat it. Anyone can get a gun and do a robbery. Anyone can by an ounce of coke and turn a profit. But not anyone can have the vision to imagine a possibilty and the inteligence to 'hack' the system we are enslaved by. I love scam artists. Just dont target the average working man.

I dont agree with "what makes u a man" Because what if you are the best husband a man can be ? U provide, u never cheat, etc, but the woman suddenly gets a midlife crisis, and start doing things which are diametricaly opposed to who she was ? And even leave her man, because in her mid 40's (or 50, whatever) start acting like a 16yr old instead of a real mother or wife ? (Or another example) What makes u a man, is to overcome everything in life what they throw at you in life ! What makes u a man, is when everything around you, all odds are against you, NOT giving up and go on ! Together with having a moral compass, ur word, and ABOVE all "Loyalty" THAT is what makes you a man !
