I just discovered your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching your videos like I just hit the jackpot. I just wanted to thank you for being so generous with sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm. I look forward to many more videos from you but even if you never make another your channel will still be awesome.

The old trusty Mach pearl. It’s one of the reasons why I like your channel you keep it simple and you remind folks that technique is more valuable than going out and buying the best. Keep up the great work

That's the very first way I used Magnets years ago. Used to do that with Maribou jigs prior to invention of the magnets. Needless to say it works, especially in smaller streams. Good video per the norm.

@NRVOutdoors
@NRVOutdoors 3 года назад
The key to pond fishing is finding the fish. I suggest starting off fan casting a heavy spinner to locate them. Then follow up with the bottom rig doughbait, worms, corn etc. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching

This technique looks great , my only concern is the slack once you set the hook to the time you reel in , that slack might just be enough to lose the fish ....what are your thoughts ?

Liked. Excellent. Question. What is the furthest you can effective cast using this technique? Thanks.
@NRVOutdoors
@NRVOutdoors 3 года назад
I can get it out to around 20- 25 yards. Keep in mind it takes practice and patience
@2musiclover534
@2musiclover534 3 года назад
@@NRVOutdoors 20-25 yards? Wow. I must be confused. With this technique, you are not using the handle to reel the line in, thus enabling minimal time to swing the lure back out again. I don't see how it is possible that your left hand/arm can possibly retrieve 20-25 yards of line back in without reeling. Can you please explain if I missed something? Thanks.
@NRVOutdoors
@NRVOutdoors 3 года назад
You will need to work the line into small loops in your left hand while jigging your lure back. This takes alot of practice and can create knots if done to tightly. It's a method used by flie anglers who are in a situation where there line cannot touch the ground or water. Option 2: you will need to extend your left arm while raising the rod tip with your right at the point you can no longer extend you need to do a very quick mend shooting the slack through the eyes and engaging your reel to pick up the slack and begin jigging again. Hope this helps
@2musiclover534
@2musiclover534 3 года назад
@@NRVOutdoors Thanks. With a TroutMagnet, and 2 lbs test, I can't even cast past 20 yards (60 feet) at full force casting motion with a 6 1/2 feet UL rod - and I tested many rods. 20-25 yards is impressive indeed. :)

I’m still learning k - Does it depend on the water depth weather you use a weights ?
@chrissyr8007
@chrissyr8007 3 года назад
Don’t use any when jigging right ? Bear with me here 🤦‍♀️
@NRVOutdoors
@NRVOutdoors 3 года назад
You can totally add weights! If you need it deeper or a little further cast. Just remember it will hit the bottom faster so begin your jigging a little earlier & you'll catch'em up all the same! Good luck & tight lines!

@nicholasbonilla7895
@nicholasbonilla7895 3 года назад
I fish in SoCal, I could never see myself fishing over 4lb (normally fish 2lb)
@NRVOutdoors
@NRVOutdoors 3 года назад
I just like having the extra line strength. Although 2-4lb line and a smooth drag can catch a big fish with ease. I prefer not risking the fish or poluting the waterways snapping off more regularly. As long as its 100% fluorocarbon and a small diameter you can get away with up to 10lb test and still trick the old smart ones. Its really up to the individual and what they like
@thaubhmoob7691
@thaubhmoob7691 3 года назад
@@nicholasbonilla7895 same, for trout it is always 2lb or 4lb, rig is always UL to L action rod mated with a 500-1000 size spinning reel. U can still catch fish with heavier rod & reel setups and heavier line but it takes away from the fight.
