This one tugged at my heart strings. I dated a guy (age 42) and his mom was mentally ill his entire life until she passed away 10 years ago. His dad was in the streets and there were several days when he was home by himself. Being the empath that I am I tried to show him the love he never had but it wasn’t enough. We are no longer together. He acts like he’s still in his 20s...extremely immature. Very sad. Won’t go to counseling. Listen, its a TOUGH pill to swallow knowing what you were put through as a child... sometimes counseling and rx’s don’t help ease the pain... you have to decide it’s time to forgive and live your life - no strings attached. Some folks will probably never be able to deal with such traumas. When you have children, and you’re of a certain age - you’ve gotta look at yourself for your decisions and consequences... I went through the exact same things as this gentleman when I was a child, just didn’t have any siblings.. but I can’t blame Mom or an absentee father anymore for my life. Even though it’s super easy to do!! It’s hard to take accountability!!! #adultingsucks Good luck to everyone who’s struggling! Hoping better days are coming for you!! ✨

You people sound crazy. One has nothing to do with the other. She doesn’t owe him anything. Her mistakes or shortcomings as it pertains to his upbringing can’t be made up for. So she’ll essentially be a slave to his every request until the day she dies if she tried doing favor for his forgiveness. He’s a grown man who need to accept that his mother is human and just because she’s a parent, it doesn’t mean she’s automatically perfect and knows everything. Her loaning him the money was kindness enough. Him not paying her back is wrong and it’s stealing. The only thing he’s owed is an apology. The only person she owes anything to at this stage in her life is herself.

Tosha Hill - I’m 25, I’m nobody’s parent and I’ve never done drugs. Not even weed like the rest of you addicts nowadays. But the fact that that’s where you decided to take it, shows where your mindset is. I don’t have to be on crack to see the mental toll it takes on someone’s body and mind. And even after getting clean, I know it’s still torture seeing the mess you’ve made over the years and having to live with that. He should be trying to help his mother and support her sobriety instead of guilt tripping her into giving him everything that she has. As if she owes him something. That wound that he supposedly has isn’t gonna be fixed by bleeding her for everything she’s worth. She’d die trying to cater to his childishness and still don’t fix anything. Me and him are around the same age so I’m in a position to say, I know it’s not always the easiest but he’s simply not applying himself. He’s running around with a sob story to excuse his laziness instead of taking control of his own life.
