[CATCH-UP Part 3] DREAMCATCHER(드림캐쳐): 'BEcause' and 'REASON'' MV Reaction 

REASON will never not fail to make InSomnias cry 😭

"Reason" is very special because it was released on the day of their sixth anniversary, about two months after they renewed their contracts, thus overcoming the seven-year curse in K-pop girl groups' history. The rap lines in the first verse were performed by Dami (main rapper) and SuA (lead rapper), while the final rap line was performed by both Dami and Gahyeon. Notably, Gahyeon was not originally part of the rap line until "Piri." The two original rappers are Dami and SuA, with SuA stepping away from rapping in the middle of their career to focus more on singing. The rap lines beautifully represent how Dreamcatcher has prospered from debut until now. The part where they show their music show win will always bring InSomnias to tears. It took them 5 years, 3 months, and 7 days (or 1,923 days) to get a music show trophy, making them the girl group with the longest time between debut and their first music show win. They are truly a symbol of hope and perseverance.

i also wasn't that into rock so i didn't think i would listen to dreamcatcher that much when i first heard them. but they just kept growing on me over time and now they are pretty much my favorite group. their whole discography is so re-listenable for me, and the high energy and rock songs are great for working out

As an InSomnia since day 1 yes Reason is a special song. They struggle for years doing whatever they could to get their names out there. From performing on the streets and going up to random people to introduce themselves to FINALLY getting their 1st win. It's been hard for the girls and frustrating for the fans for not being able to get them to the top but eventually they made it to the top.

Before you turned on the caption for Reason, it said “Because of Insomnia” then “Dreamcatcher exists”. That statement sets the tone and gives more meaning to the interpretation of the song. Glad to have you on the DC train.

BEcause is heavily influenced by the American horror movie "Us," which is why there are many representations of doppelgangers in the music video. The song itself narrates how an intense love can become an obsession, contributing to the eerie, occult vibe. It is also stylized as "BEcause" because the Hanja character for "BE" is "悲," which means sadness. Obsessive love and embracing one's crazy side are rooted in loneliness. You can also visualize 悲 through their choreography, as their hand and finger movements during the chorus resemble the Chinese character. Another fun fact is that they sampled "Für Elise." It's a fan theory that "Für Elise" also represents crazy love in the song because of the backstory of how Beethoven composed it for his student, whom he liked. It is theorized that Beethoven changed it into a complex composition when she refused his marriage proposal, making it difficult for her to learn or play.

"parallel worlds", an important thing to remember with Dreamcatcher 😏 "BEcause" is absolutely more pop than rock. Pop music definitely occasionally has some driving guitars. It feels more rock than typical pop/rock tracks but still very melodic. Imo.

i feel like since you don't really like rock you should get into their b sides they have so many different genres you could really enjoy.. i suggest listen to Dystopia: The Tree of Language album b-sides they are so versatile and straight up BOPS

Dreamcatcher holds the record for girl groups in Kpop for the longest time between debut and first show win at 1923 days. (Brave Girls took longer but had member changes along the way. NU'EST holds the record for boy groups with no line up changes at 2610 days.) And so the Dreamcatcher women and InSomnia were pretty wrecked when they finally won for Maison. There still were no studio audiences allowed at that point, and the women just thought they were being called to the stage for some promotional filming. Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art. "Reason" is the fan-song for Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher! Can you imagine this song live? With InSomnia going Whoooo-whoooaaa and them singing over it? 😊 I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Whoever did them, they did a great job. I see the book from the Nightmare arc, the mask from Scream, the gun from R.o.S.E Blue, the gagged bust from Boca, the cup from Odd Eye, the hand through the mirror from Good Night and the clock from Piri. Musically, I am in heaven. I'm a metalhead and I love the song. AND THAT RIFF! 🤘🎸 Obviously the song is an absolute anthem!
