yeah the song you know is "maison", and it was the song that gave them their first win! a clip of them getting that 1st win is shown in the "reason" mv, the one where they are all crying. it was extremely emotional to them cause the girls and the fans had been trying to get that win for more than FIVE years and we finally did it in that comeback!!

Deja Vu is a song about love, friendship and most importantly betrayal. It is a standalone title track, not part of a Dreamcatcher story arc, and the song itself is a collaboration with the game KING's RAID by Vespa. The M/V has the two main characters: JiU and Yoohyeon and the same story is told from their different viewpoint where Deja Vu should more interpreted as distortion of perception triggered by a feeling, a past event or dream here. Pretty much how Yoohyeon's mind distorts the past how she has betrayed and killed JiU to get the throne while also got rid all the other members and now sitting on the throne all alone. Similar to Scream, white is innocence / purity while black is for the dark side. And the most important color is blue, that represents (distorted) memory while red is more for the bloody truth. Now for the story in nutshell: First we see Yoohyeon sitting on throne wearing white but the moment she sits on it she get corrupted by the black fog <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="61">1:01</a> (note already the blue filter here). According to her memory JiU was threatening her while she is innocent (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="90">1:30</a>) - JiU in Black, Yoohyeon in White. The 7 of them were friends <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="97">1:37</a> , note the red drinks representing the actual past here but distortion kicks in at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="98">1:38</a> the rewrites the past (flow of time changes). We see at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="139">2:19</a> that according to the distorted memory they are now in conflict and the others are gone. Please note the blue drinks this time. At <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="228">3:48</a> we see the actual past of JiU wearing white but she forgives Yoohyeon <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="236">3:56</a> she drops the sword, only to get betrayed and stabbed in the back at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="276">4:36</a>. The table scene at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="258">4:18</a> is actually representing the last supper to emphasize the betrayal. Anyway Yoohyeon also gets rid of the others, already at the beginning we see Handong imprisoned <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="79">1:19</a>, SuA banished <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="85">1:25</a>, Siyeon probably dead <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="312">5:12</a> etc. Just to get to the final scene where Yoohyeon is sitting on the throne all alone wearing black. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="360">6:00</a>.

Back during the Minx era SuA was the main rapper and the main dancer. Dami, Siyeon, Yooyeon, and Jiu were main vocalist. When all of Happy Face's artists except for Minx and two trainees abandoned ship, Happy Face disbanded Minx and created Dreamcatcher by adding the only two trainees (Gahyeon and Handong) they had left to the group. Everyone in Dreamcatcher is a Main vocalist level talent with SuA still as the main dancer and Dami switched to main rapper. Sua and Gahyeon are also sub rappers when needed.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu. Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point. "Reason" is the fan-song for Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher! Can you imagine this song live? With us InSomnia going Whoooo-whoooaaa and them singing over it? 😊 I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Whoever did them, they did a great job. I see the book from the Nightmare arc, the mask from Scream, the gun from R.o.S.E Blue, the gagged bust from Boca, the cup from Odd Eye, the hand through the mirror from Good Night and the clock from Piri. Musically, I am in heaven. I'm a metalhead and I love the song. AND THAT RIFF! 🤘🎸 Obviously the song is an absolute anthem! By the way, the song you know is "Maison". 😊 Which is part 1 of the Apocalypse trilogy and about climate change. Since you asked, why don't you finish up the trilogies? Apocalypse trilogy part 2 and 3 are "Vision" and "Bon Voyage", while Dystopia trilogy part 2 and 3 are "Boca" and "Odd Eye".

Despite that they continued their path gaining international fans and doing tours overseas until the point that Korea couldn't ignore them anymore. Dreamcatcher videos tend to go pretty deep, so let me give a little bit deeper background on SCREAM first: Dystopia Trilogy: This trilogy talks about Cyberbullying and the power of language and how it can hurt someone if used in a negative way. It portrays their attempt at facing the Dystopian reality that is hidden in the world of social media. The center of the story is the tree of language that is turning black due to negativism after the curse of the evil language was released (depicted as opening Pandora's box in Scream) and the light provided by positive words fade out. The order of the title tracks is: Scream (Hear no Evil) - happening in the Past - Fantasy vibes Boca (Speak no Evil - Boca is the Spanish word for mouth) - Present timeline Odd Eye (See no Evil) - Futuristic vibes M/V: Now some info in the Scream M/V itself: The dancer with the mask on is reserving the spot for Handong. (stuck in China due to CoVid so she was neither here, nor in Boca) First you mostly see the members wearing white, that is their pure uncorrupted form and they gradually take on the black outfit after waking up to new world of hatred. The masks otherwise represent anonymity provided by social media. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="768">12:48</a> is when Gahyeon breaks the container of the curse and negativism starts spreading (Explosion around the tree) It is also shown that this has happened some time in the past and negativism is ever since part of our society. (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="770">12:50</a> the ancient texts light up) <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="775">12:55</a> they point fingers at her for doing it. Similar to their other M/Vs (Like Deja VU) the storytelling is not linear. In Scream the members are already wearing black but still asleep at the beginning <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="568">9:28</a>. ("My covered eyes are stained with blood") <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="610">10:10</a> shows the loss of the white form. There is even a transitioning outfit with JiU with White on top of black <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="613">10:13</a>. The purple fog with the evil words <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="623">10:23</a> is the curse basically, the scenes with purple with black outfit are the corrupted areas. We see how the spreading works in the bridge when Siyeon is still wearing white <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="782">13:02</a> while the other six members are already in black and around the now corrupted tree (purple) and they walk away from her wearing some black already and in <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="811">13:31</a> she wakes up wearing black. It is also important to note that one of the important message is how the "Please I don't want to scream" turns into Siyeon eventually singing "I just want to make you scream", meaning that basically negativism corrupts people turning them from victims to perpetrators. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="818">13:38</a> "Dami: and one by one everyone becomes crazy". And finally now all of them wearing black walk away.

Ok, now some comments on DreamCatcher Lore. Most of the Dreamcatcher title tracks are parts of different storylines arranged around concepts. They have three finished storylines: Nightmare Series (Here they represent witches turning into nightmares due to the curse of the spider) - Chase Me (DEBUT song) - Good Night - Fly High (This is actually a Prequel to the first two, but was released after. Can be watched before Chase Me for story order.) - You and I - What - Piri - official end of the arc - Breaking Out - Japanese track, unofficial end of the arc Dystopia Trilogy (Cyberbullying and negativism) - Scream (hear no evil - Past) - Boca (speak no evil - Present) - Odd Eye (see no evil - Futuristic) Apocalypse Trilogy ( They talk about how humanity is destroying the planet, they are god like figures who come here to help us fight) - Maison (Saving the environment / global warning) - Vision (Talk about wars) - Bonvoyage (Love song to Mother Earth, let it heal herself) Beside they have individual tracks like Game Collaborations: Deja Vu, R.O.S.E. Blue Summer bop LOL (BEcause) based on the horror movie US by Jordan Peele And they have a new ongoing Duology with OOTD (Outfit of the Day) being the first iteration which is a satiric song about the music industry where everything is fake and staged. They have some fan songs for 1st, 2nd and 6th anniversary, REASON being the one for the 6th anniversary celebrating their contract renewal (telling InSomnia that we can spend more time together) They have a few Japanese releases like Eclipse and Endless Night. But most importantly Dreamcatcher has ALBUMS with insane good B-Sides and INTROS covering all sorts of genres you can dream of. From Trap to Jazz to EDM to R&B, Reggie, Rock, J-Metal, name it, you have it... If you just move along the title tracks you will miss 70% of their best songs :D To test this theory, do an ALBUM reaction to Dreamcatcher Villains album, under 20 min, 4 songs + intro and you will see how a B-Side can sound..... For Shatter there is a Special Clip - Dance performance that is recommended, for Rising and We are Young you can do the color coded. And for OOTD you can check both the M-V and the dance video to see them move.... After this probably you will decide to check their discography in chronological order. :D

Watching people lose their mind to Dreamcatcher has become one of my favorite things and I really enjoyed your reactions to these songs. I apologize in advance for the wall of text. Deja Vu was a collaboration with the mobile game Kings Raid. The song is about betrayal and loss and the MV closely follows the events that happen in the game. There are a lot of layers in the MV but the gist is that Yoohyeon's perception of events get corrupted, represented by the black smoke at the beginning, and she either kills or banishes the rest of the members because she believes that they're plotting to kill her. In the end she's only left with the regret and memories of what she did, stuck in an endless loop of Deja Vu as she remembers it over and over. Scream is the first part of their Dystopia trilogy. The Dystopia trilogy is a social commentary on online bullying, hate speech, and social media. The lyrics of Scream are from the perspective of the person being bullied as they search for meaning is why these things are happening to them. The imagery in the MV and the lyrics evoke the witch hunts that led to the burning of innocent women and liken those actions to the online witch hunts that happen in today's digital world. Towards the end of the MV, the victim decides to fight back. In my opinion, them saying "I wanna make you Scream" is them choosing to ignore the haters and to continue performing. They even say, "watch me and Scream" which is what we do as fans at concerts or when consuming their content. They're choosing to fight the hate with art and beauty instead of giving in. The next song in this trilogy is Boca (mouth) and it's literally telling haters to shut their (boca) or they'll do it for them. InSomnia means In Dreams and represents that we'll always be together in our Dreams. The girls often call us Somnia (Dreams) when addressing the fans. Reason was released on their 6th anniversary and is a fan song dedicated to us. Dreamcatcher has had a pretty rocky road getting to where they are now. They actually started out as a completely different group in 2014 called Minx, with Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, & Dami. Minx was a more typical kpop group with a bright bubbly concept. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, Minx failed. The market was oversaturated with similar concepts, their company is pretty small, and the management company made some pretty big missteps with their promotions, which culminated in their disbandment in late 2016. However, the company knew that the girls were special and decided to put it all on the line to give them another shot. Instead of cancelling their contracts, they doubled down, added two new members (Gahyeon & Handong) and set out to do something completely different. On January 13th, 2017 (A Friday), Dreamcatcher debuted with a rock horror concept that caught a lot of people's attention and eventually led to them having a pretty large following internationally, if not domestically. Even with a second chance they've had to fight and claw their way to where they are now. They've faced setbacks, opposition at their concept and sound, and alleged manipulation of music shows all while pushing forward. It wasn't until 2022 that they got their first music show win with Maison, the song you were humming at the beginning of your video. That first win, 1924 days after debut, is still the record for the longest time between debut and a first win for a girl group with all the original members. As for recommendations for future Dreamcatcher content. The correct answer is honestly, all of it. They've got one of the best discographies of any group I've ever heard and it's the most diverse I've ever come across. While rock and metal are their core influences, their b-sides are made up of everything from R&B, EDM, Trap, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, Pop, and much more. Always a pleasure to see how a fellow metalhead falls into the Dreamcatcher black hole. You won't be able to leave, but you're gonna love it here. Best group ever, and my impossible dream is their collab with Lorna Shore. You might as well start from the scratch reacting to DC discography, and after a while (or even now, why not) go and check up some guides to know them better. This vastly enriches the musical experience, because they are insanely hilarious. Also, if you feel Fe deficiency in your blood: Endless Night, No More, and The Curse of the Spider - Concert Edition. Specifically this one. But starting from scratch is the better option I think. Reason is really special song. It hits extremely hard no matter how many times I listen to it, when that part comes. I think you felt that too without knowing all the context, which is cool. Consider to rewatch this MV after you will be very well acquainted with their discography, history and other InSomnia stuff.

If you really like them that much from just three songs... My recommendation has to be their whole discography 😅 you might not like every song but there are so many gems that are not title tracks. Id say they really cemented their sound on the ESCAPE THE ERA mini album, their first couple title tracks were extremely j-rock. That isnt gone now, but id say its mixed with more other stuff too. I support finishing out the triologies youve started as another commenter suggested.

here are some other songs i highly recommend for you to watch next: "bonvoyage" (probably my 2nd fav title track after deja vu), "BEcause" (it's not part of any trilogy, it's a standalone song in their summer album inspired by the horror movie "US") and maybe watch "boca" and "odd eye" because they're the songs that follow "scream" for their dystopia trilogy! note: these are not all of my favourite titles, i just think you'd enjoy those and it makes sense to finish the trilogy you already started!
