Fabian Cancellara is a cycling hero of mine, and many others. For me there was no one else as inspiring to watch turn on the gas in a one day classic than Spartacus. I was lucky enough to catch up with the living legend in Spain at the start of the year.

Spain: huge spaces, few people or cars. Try that in Italy! It's a Navy Seal survival challenge.

For sure, I think of most cyclists as "good" people - they like to train hard but all have other passions and hobbies and mostly, they are the kind of people I would like to hang out with. Not so much bling bling for sure! I also think the average IQ of pro cyclists is pretty good. Chew on that!

The Swiss national coach when Fabian was a junior would make a handling exercise when on top of a hill: they wouldn't be allowed to pedal, only coasting and braking when needed, until the end of the downhill. And Fabian would distance everyone all the time.
