"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life." - Pipkin, and some other famous person, probably Thanks so much for watching, friends! We appreciate you very much!! :D
I know how hard this is🙄. It's so similar to my daily evening routine. Catching my free roaming pet cat. We don't let him to be outside at night. Edit: guys lift that sofa. It's easier🤣
One Rabbit Society suggestion was to train them to go into a carrier by leaving the carrier down all the time and tossing a raisin inside. Eventually the bun learned to go inside routinely to get the raisin. I never tried it, not enough room in the bunny room. They are psychic; ours seem to know if I even think while sitting still “maybe I should pick you up and comb you.” Immediate escape to further away. You look quite lovely today, Pigpoke’s mom. Ours have hiding boxes. Luckily, I can often pick up the hiding box and grab them up. One advantage for me of them not being free roam…poor buns…they have xpens as limited territory. They still pout and hop away, worried I will do it again. Now, after 3 years, though, they no longer pout as long. By the next mealtime they have forgiven me. Have a wonderful trip with Mr. Poke🎉
I have my boy's carrier out and in the open in an area in the laundry he passes by every day to get to in the kitchen and I stack hay in there two days before the vet visits and let him jump in and out during that time with the door open. ngl it has made catching him alot easier. Because yes he haaaates being picked up and chased and caught.
Congrats on corralling the wild and wily Pigpoke! I hope he travels quietly and doesn't hate you for very long. He probably associates the carrier with his capture from the wild and time in the bunny orphanage where they were fed day old lettuce and tough carrots and only got bananas on New Years Eve when the orphanage jailers would get squiffy on banana daiquiris and carrot juice mixed with rum. Those days will be hard for Pigpoke to put behind him but as long as you don't ruin bananas and carrots with booze I think he will overcome his troubled past.
i relate to this 100% 😂 Freddie growls at me and pretend bites me too when i pick him up to put his harness on, but the MINUTE we step outside, he wants to stay out all day!
With my bun s’mores when I pick her up she gets so mad but when I bring her to my room to run around she wants to stay there forever! The only thing is sometimes she poops on my floor- because her bunny partner Dutch is downstairs because his bum is always very dirty (we are working on finding a solution to his bunny butt) so I just bring up the kennel for her and just hopes she goes in there 😅
My Sylvie ALWAYS knows when I’m coming to catch her. I can just sit in my chair and think about it and she’ll start hiding. I have to chase her until she and I both are sweating, panting, worn out and flopped flat on the floor. 😂
If your struggling to catch him, use a large dog playpen to corale him. Once he is in the playpen, go ahead and place him in the carrier. That's how I'm able to get my rabbit Aquila to the vet on time.
@@mamat1213 I found I had to leave the pen up and encorporate it into my buns typical set up, otherwise she just avoided the pen, no matter what treat was put in there 😆 little bum was annoyingly brainy 😂 bless.
You did good, Pigpoke! You outran the hard working Rabbit Police for 9 minutes. And the Rabbit Police was very patient and crafty, blocking off the tunnel and moving out the futon. Well played across the board! I hope the good bun is doing ok, we love him very much.
Awwweee....I love how he looks up at you. I'm surprised he doesn't scratch when you pick him up. Our bunny goes "Edward Scissor Hands" on us when we even attempt to pick her up.
All I could think when I seen the open door in the room he was hiding and knowing the fact that animals can sense when you're intending to try to catch them was, 'He's gonna be gone in a matter of minutes if they don't close that door.'. 😅🤣
Been there, done that...you managed it in record time! Bunners was a good carrier bunny, in fact we only used it for his protection, we could just actually carry him anywhere! Oreo is a bit of a pain, especially at the vets, but he LOVES car rides! Good boy Pigpoke! I think their collective desire to avoid the confined space of the carrier shows they are not designed to be in one, but it IS good for them when they need it! Pigpoke, you rock that carrier! Have a nice trip!
Can we all just note how helpful Dad was at getting Pigpoke into the carrier! 😂😂😂 "This might be a 2 person job" indeed! Mum has my deepest sympathies, I'm always the one that picks the short straw too. Pigpoke's very determined and clever at evading capture! ☺️🐇🥰 And how handsome he is!!!
What really perplexes me is how much more friendly absolutely wild rabbits can be to humans, like the wild cottontails in Wild Texas Bunnies channel or the wild hares in the House of the Hare channel, who come to humans, let humans pick them up and even climb on them for fun!
Put the Carrier in front of him with treats inside, eventually Curiosity beats the bun. Works for my 5 escape artists Edit: don't call them, don't chase them, just act casual, check your phone but be close enough to quietly swing the door shut.
My rabbit liked to eat his carrier, and he had it as a house so he would hop in there a lot. He chewed the zipper off and we always had to shut it as tight as possible
my bunny's carrier has a zip but luckily she hasn't tried to chew it off. I leave mine out so she can run into it at all times if she wants, she just lies in it so she is used to it
It’s amazing how smart those little creatures are. My bun always knows when I’m going to pick her up. I think she’s picking up on my slight apprehension because I know she hates it even though I think I’m hiding it. They are prey animals and it’s a sense that’s hard wired into their repertoire even though we would never hurt them. 🐇💋❤️
Omg I can't 🤭 Bless... You guys are my go to for all things Bunny. But Pipkin was no preparation for the HELL that is CATCH DAY! 🤣 Catch day funny tips that might help? PREPARE in Stealth Mode and hours before: I swore Alfi knew a CATCH time was coming before me!? Forget lettuce or leaves, you're gonna need the big gun treats, Top shelf only 😆 if possible have a sparse, easy access/catch room or area they use regularly - ready for a quick shut in. After MANY FAILS I came up with a gated section where she ate and got special treats set up with my chair near by then I had a long stick with a hook that stayed next to my chair. I'd save the big treat incase of escape and just feed her like she was getting a little extra fruit or veg, sit down in my chair AS NORMAL 😉 then while her back was turned pick up the hook stick which had been prepositioned earlier 😆... casually and carefully placed it over the closable gate section, then BAM! 😂 Worked 7-8 out of 10 times👌But omg those 2-3 times it didn’t 😱!!! Cos the back up plans were NO MATCH to the surprise catch, and my girl was a Sneaky, Speedy, Remoresless bundle of fluffified Resentment, hell bent on avoiding entrapment as if her life depended on it 😳 Tbf she got over it fairly quickly 😏 After a solid couple of bunny "swear action" filled hours of telling me off AND having reported the incident to the Bunny High Council of wrongful hooman Co habitation behaviour... she'd forgive me and return for her regular Bunny Worship Rituals ☺. Honestly my previous bun Olive was a little Dutch bun who lived for being picked up, carted places and cuddled like Pipkin... so Alfies aversion to the above was a BIG surprise to me too. 😆 but you did well. You guys still RULE in my book 🥰
Oh...my....goodness! That's exactly the same dance my husband and I had to do when Trooper needed to go to the vet! He KNEW when that carrier came out that we were up to no good so he would go and hide under the couch and we would literally have to move the couch to get him to come out. Not even enticing him with his favorite bunny goodies was enough to get him to come out on his own. Like Pigpoke, he was very cunning and very smart!!
Well, you really did a pretty good job of THE capture. I’m still thinking he’s very young. He’s going to be a different bun when he’s older. When my girl BeBe was younger it took me sometimes 20 full minutes to catch her. Now at nearly 6 years of age, it’s a piece of cake. As long as a bunny knows he’s loved, all will turn out fine. Btw, the music is FAB! One of my very favorite songs, no less excellent for this video. Have a good trip. Keep us posted as to PigPoke’s enjoyment of being on location.😊
Arh Pigpoke you don't like that do you. This took me bk when I had to catch my Rabbit he would go nuts once he saw the carrier that was it he was off. They sense somethings not right. I hope he's okay wherever he is going.
they know and they don't know, so you have to trick them. you already know food is the key. i trained my rabbit to not be afraid of the carrier and give treats in there. then when it's time, close the door.
The technique i use with my Dutch doe Daisy is taking a group of grids attached together and surrounding her once she is in a corner. For example when Pigpoke was next to the futon under the end table. then you lift up the end table and the bun has nowhere to run. you just reach into the makeshift pen and pick them up.
@@dionnasoares8332 yep, I have to get my cat into a room with no hiding places. Then bring the cage in. She runs whenever she hears it. At least she's not a fighter. Her big bro that we lost a few years ago would become wild.
I have a RAT 🐀 like this, my bun would just randomly jump on my lap, especially if I had food or was on the phone, they just KNOW! Many times I barricade in one room! Sorry too laugh but I've been through this too!!!
I usually put a treat in the carrier and just let our rabbit explore the carrier. As he gets closer, he smells the dehydrated apple slice and goes in to get it and I got him. Works every time. He loves apple slices.
This is literally me everytime I try to catch my bunny when I've to take her to a trip... She always likes being close to me ...sometimes even been picked up...but don't know how she gets to know we gotta leave ..she just likes being at home everytime...
I have to say, never thought of putting a toilet for them to sit in! We sussed that taking a rabbit from its cage made it easier to catch and laying a soft bathroom mat on the bottom of the carry case for comfort and absorbability then chuck it in the wash after… the mat not the rabbit! But then that would have made a very boring video so congrats on your outsmarting of the Pigpoke and another great video x
Bad boy, bad boy, what are you going to do when they come for you... That was so funny. You are not thinking like a rabbit! Really? Love you Pigpoke and family!🐰🙍♂️👩💕🤣
In the 1950s and 60s we didn't take animals to the vet unless there was a life threatening problem. They all did fine. If you choose his favorite treat and feed him it only in the cart, and never close the door unless you're taking him somewhere, he'll get used to going in there.
Omg can't stop laughing, we all know this bunny parent adventure 😆 I cracked up when I see half a tree in your lounge! He's very good at hiding. How do they just know we want to catch them?! Binky is the same and Millie and Moose are worse but Pikpoke really knows how to make it as difficult as possible lol so funny. You can just see him thinking go away peasant hoomin parent 😆 🤣 he's such a little sossage! The music is hilarious. Even the treats...he just knows eat and RUN 😆 🤣 if mummy can't do it it's daddy's turn lol. Look at him in daddy's arms awww..banana! you are the best bunny parents EVER and best channel EVER ❤
