Kris, wow, is that a clever way to preserve your bait! The hardest part of it is catching the shad. You're an expert with the net. I love that vacuum sealer! It looks a lot like my laminator. I wonder if I could run some bluegill through a laminator? 😊 Thanks for the great advice my friend!

I've got some in the freezer now but not the big just some small ones. now I've heard of few ways to freeze them. I did it 3 years ago out them in corn meal that way when I needed some they wasn't stuck together. I did this time they got stuck kinda so I don't want to just out a few in each bag I like adding to a ice cream bucket and just grab some and go. but maybe I need to do it with my sealer just the bags cost so much I'm in small budget. but thanks Kris. god bless all y'all.

yeah I did this exact thing all the time. there is nothing worse than going fishing and for some strange reason not be able to find the shed. waste 2 hours of your fishing time trying to locate them never fun. so what I like doing is going to my local Dam where is the shed seem to always be congregated. it's a excellent fishing spot but usually always overcrowded so I just go to get shad. it don't take but two three throws with the cast net to fill a 5-gallon bucket. then I'm set for at least half the summer catfishing season.

Try rock salt instead of table salt....thats what they use to make home made ice cream. Ive been meaning to try it to keep frozen shad frozen while out on the lake/river

How long does it take for them to get that big?I saw huge schools of little ones about 1 1/2 inches long this past fall at a dam.I did not know what they were.They kept surfacing.Nothing was chasing them.Not sure where they go.I did find dead big ones in that area one time.

great video! just did my first batch of frozen bait with the vacuum sealer using a big carp... I'm new to using frozen cut bait so I'm curious to know if you can vacuum seal and re-freeze the bait that you don’t end up using for the day assuming its kept cold in a cooler on ice through the whole day?

Hey Kris, how would you compare fishing with frozen shad vs fresh? There’s a lot of debate over this and some guys absolutely refuse to use frozen, but a lot of the places I fish are hard to get fresh shad. Just curious.

I don't no if people want to do it. but take a pen take the top and bottom out so its like a straw. close the bag around the pen and you can suck out the air. I've don't that when I buy lot if chicken or Burger and freeze be fire I was able to afford the vacuum sealer. yea it may sound nasty but you don't taste the food. but it take the air out when the bags tight with no air pull the pen out and close fast. that's the cheap mans sealer and works good. hope it nay help someone. god bless.
