Sheepshead season is here and in full swing! Just about Any kind of hard or vertical structure in our Inshore waters are holding tons of them right now and in this video I decide to try and fish a local bridge that connects our mainland to a barrier island. There are not many times where it's calm enough this tine of the year to fish it but this afternoon the conditions were perfect and the fish were definitely chewing for me. I had a combination of live crabs and shrimp with me and it didn't seem to matter what I dropped down they were eating as long as it was in the strike zone. After throwing a couple in the box I take them home and demonstrate how I like to clean them and cook up a tasty meal!

I LOVE your wife’s honesty! Personally, Sheeps are one of my absolute favorite fish to eat! I love their natural citrus flavoring and since their diet is crustaceans, it’s hard to beat! Hope you try that recipe on those Sheepshead Brandon "Capt Collier" my distant Kinfolks. That Blackjack sure is nice. My Kinfolks on my mom's side Cuzan has a beautiful blue Blackjack boat that i fish on and that thing runs 62 mph with just a 250 Yamaha outboard motor on it. His was rated for a 300 hp maybe a 350 hp motor but it came with the 250 Yamaha an it really performs well. Fishing the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Louisiana Marsh we catch a lot of redfish, speckled trout, flounder and Sheepshead. Our fishing is very well in our area. 15 to 20 minute run by boat makes it very convenient to fish Louisiana so we have great choices. Take care Brandon and grill those Sheepshead like you would a redfish on the half shell, you won't regret it.

You are right about the frayed leaders. I was so lazy to retie my leader, and it cost me an upper 16-17in sheepshead.. The leader popped and the fish was right in front of me! Haha

Try laying the fillets out on a baking sheet and rub mayo on the topside of them . Season with your favorite seasoning then sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and a seasoned breadcrumbs on top and bake for 15 minutes then broil for a couple minutes to brown the top.

I love sheepshead but when I clean them I usually just cut down the lateral line and fillet up from there and don't even bother with that little piece on the bottom, avoid the rib bones completely that way and also avoid the blood line but your fillet portion was excellent none the less. Tight lines and screaming drags!

Capt., Hard to beat fish tacos. No sheepshead up north here, but we use Tautog( Black fish) very similar in texture, quality and taste. Ask the Mrs. if that lemon trick will work for limes, I don't see why not. Use lime on fish tacos here. Thanks for another great video.

Thoae are some fine sheepshead we caught a nice haul in new symerna Saturday and Sunday. Have you ever trief the collar on the sheepshead? It's really good it has more of a crab flavor to me.

Always love to see someone running the same setup I do, the spinfisher I could throw all dang day. Any rod recommendations for an upgrade? Always used ugly sticks and I love them but I feel like I could upgrade

Can't beat them spin fisher's. They are tanks! And I think ugly sticks are fine for sheeps. I think most Medium to Medium/heavy fast action rods would be sufficient. All personal preference and how much you wanna spend really.

My distant cousin Capt Collier and I'm Mr. Sellier these "ier" folks have to be related long distant, right? Those French names and the hunting and fishing that we both do, catching those Sheepshead like I do along with harvesting those hogs. Only difference is you shoot yours and I catch mine alive, tie them up and bring them out alive, either way we both bring home the bacon 🥓. I was waiting for you fellas to put your mouths on that fresh pork, I knew is y'all didn't enjoy that, then y'all don't know what good eating is, because that wild pork is so much better than store bought pork. Store bought pork has no flavor compared to the feral pork. Those Sheepshead are one of the best eating fish in the water. White white meat and delicious fish. You clean your Sheepshead the way I filet mine. Take those Sheepshead and leave the scales on those filets. Place those on the grill after seasoning well, them place thin onion slices on the seasoned fish let that cook until almost done, then take some pepper Jack cheese, mozzarella, and American cheese placing a thin slice layers on each half, then place chopped green onions on top of the cheese and place thin sliced lemon 🍋 slices 3 or 4 on top and let it finish cooking, sprinkle a lil paprika on top to really make the fish look good and taste delicious 😋. You will want to cook Sheepshead this way all the time. Good luck an try this recipe kinfolks.

Sounds like my wife. See now like’s fish when bleed properly and cook the way see likes. The demand she had when we purchased our boat was she would never clean a fish and that is ok. See does not fish but loves a boat ride and time with our boys.
