We went to the range and asked a random golfer what his handicap was and then made him PROVE it. Should we make this a series? #golf #golfswing #scratchgolf
Will have to stop by Hermitage for sure and play there now. Just down the road in The Boro area. Remember guys handicap is based off your best 8 rounds out of 20. So you can shoot in the 70s a few times, then 80s and 90s and it won't effect your HC. Great video. Cheers...
They only took 1 shot from green shirt. He obviously had a bad day lol. But white shirt almost shot the same as the “2.8” so idk what’s unbelievable about that. A 10 handicap usually shoots high 80’s
Handicap is an average on your best 8 scores every 20 rounds. The number of your handicap is representative more of your potential good day and not the number you shoot every round
And it's the average of the best 8 differentials, which uses course rating (from the tees you are playing) to get your course handicap. It doesn't mean a 3 shoots 75 every time he plays.
@@dwboston1 With the WHS, it's 20%, since it's now the best 8 of 20 differentials. Therefore 4 of your last 20 differentials are below your index (20%) (*on average, since someone could have 2 really hot rounds which are below your index, and 6 which are slightly higher than your index).
Handicap is a measure of your potential. Not what you are shooting every time you go out. Your handicap also changes based on the tees your are playing and the slope and rating for those tees. Example, I am 65 years old, from the old guy(5600 yds) tees I am a 2 HCP, from the member tees (6150 yds) I am a 5 HCP and the blue tees (6800 yds) I am a 7. From our tips at 7300 yds I am a 12 HCP. I would play either of you guys straight up.
Lol imagine not even knowing how the handicap systems works and then trying to test people if they are they play their handicap 😂😂😂😂 like fun content but super douchey. Like you guys aren’t playing to a ten, more like an 18
@@divotdudes since he's already doing his own music on RU-vid, have him go around with you and maybe figure up some lyrics and sing that you could put at the front of each new vid that sort of gives a preview of what you're about to see :)
Yeah handicap is based on an index which takes into account tees played and difficulty of course. More specifically how you score on certain holes too. It’ll calculate a differential based on that data. Your handicap is based on your last 8 of 20 best round differentials. So generally a 2.8 handicap will probably shoot around 80 from the tips consistently, a good round mid 70s and a bad round mid 80s
You guys don’t understand handicaps at all. I’m a 2-3. My average score is a 78. I average 6-7 bogies and 1-2 birdies a round. Your cap is the average of your best rounds. Not the average of all rounds.
I was gonna comment the same thing .. I'm a 2.9 ... I most of the time break 80 but not always. In Canada . It's the average of your 8 best rounds out of your last 20.
@@trevorbikker9093same in America. The handicap system is meant to show your potential, not your average. I'm a VERY inconsistent 2.1 handicap. I can shoot at or around par on my best days, but my bad days are terrible. Last year my best and worst rounds were even par 72... And a 91
Most people don’t know the difference between an index and a handicap. Your handicap is based off of your index and changes on each course and for each tee box.
They can ask what club each used in a scramble. As long as they don't ask the guy they're playing against. And I don't think they're playing on the PGA tour, so...
I genuinely asked that question without thinking when playing in the national championships. I was 14 playing in the under 18’s and was leading my three ball at that moment. I denied it to myself and to my partner until it came to face the rules committee. I just could not believe I’d done it. Got disqualified. I think I was so used to playing with my friends that it was just a Freudian slip.”
There are factors that determine this stuff. First of all your handicap is based on your like top 40% or so of rounds. Your absolute worst rounds really don’t matter for your handicap. It also depends on things like slope and course rating. A course with an average slope rating and a course rating that is equal to par would mean that an average of 3 over par in say 4 of 10 rounds played would put your handicap like right at 3. Also a player that can shoot like -2 one day and +5 the next day on the same course could easily have the same handicap as a guy who consistently shoots 1-2 over.
@@cobra7282golf is a weird sport. Im a 4 and will break 80 pretty consistently, but i will either have like 5 bogeys and all pars or i will have like 7 bogeys with 3 birdies. Or occasionally i will have a blow up round where i shoot 85
You don’t understand the handicap system. He should only score 3 over against course rating about 7 times for every 20 rounds played. He could shoot 10 85’s and 10 75’s in his last 20 rounds on a course rated 72 and he would be a 3 handicap.
a second before the first swing my dog was acting up so i looked away and only heard the swing and impact. i started cracking up because i knew these boys were in trouble without seeing the drive.
Came here to beat the dead horse of people complaining these guys don't understand handicaps. I dunno if the match was staged or not, but he is clearly a legit 2.8. What is impressive is showing up against a 2 man scramble and beating them regardless of their skill level. Props to Music Man 😅
Why do guys expect the cheaper balls that are not made for spin to spin when they chip or hit a wedge? That Tour Response ain't stopping on a cold day.
Have had an Hole in one and 2 Eagles in the same round ,one was Skill other just trying to get it close ! The Hole in one was Skill too and much more Enjoyable!
@@darylhoskins5696 I’ve eagled two different holes twice each. Making an eagle requires a strong drive and an accurate and strong second shot. The difficulty of the putts vary. I don’t personally know anybody else that has made an eagle. And I’ve had many people say that they don’t know anybody that has made an eagle. Nobody has told me they know anybody that has made one. I do know this one little guy who rarely hits a driver much past 200 yards that made a hole in one. He has zero chance of ever making an eagle. He made a hole in one once. Sure, the better golfer you are the greater your chances bc your dispersion pattern is smaller. And if you want to call that skill, well, go for it. But luck will do it just as well. Me? At 70 and getting out of the hospital tomorrow after a month long stay for rotator cuff surgery, my chances of another eagle are limited to only a couple of par 5s. Unless I want to start playing from the senior tees and my golfing buddies won’t take kindly to that.

Sam is currently a 2.4 as of March 27th. And perhaps "divot dudes" should learn how handicaps are calculated! By the way, hats off to Sam, as anybody can have a bad three hole stretch.
I'm a 3.0 but the handicap system is based on your POTENTIAL so if you have some really low rounds & then hack up others they toss those out. The problem with a lot of players is they just don't get those lower rounds thus very high handicaps. I added up my last 21 rounds as far as handicaps per round then divided by 21 & I am actually a 9 handicap if they didn't base it on potential. It's all about having breakthroughs so if you shoot in the high 90's you're going to need just a couple rounds in the 80's to bring it way down.
@divotdudes couldn't agree more mate. Unfortunately there are a lot of golfers who believe the greens staff should be doing all that stuff! We marked out over 100 unrepaired or badly repaired pitch marks on one par 3 yesterday morning before the first tee time
@@divotdudes wrong country for a start! It's just nice to see content creators taking care and having pride in the course. Not just for yourselves, but for others. Top marks lads
I play with several guys that are legit 2 to 4 handicap, I'm 14. Where they are so much better is 50 yards and closer. They get up and down from anywhere. If I miss the green in reg, it's an auto bogey or worse.
My rule, if someone say's a very specific handicap (+ or -) and follows with USGA at the end, that person comes off legit. to me. The clowns trying to prove him wrong, wouldn't break 90. Dear god they need to get lessons from the guy they're trying to prove wrong.
This guy not only has game but can talk some shit as well, I love it. Divot Dudes come on, if your going to go out and do golf videos at least know a few of the rules. Asking for advise, what club did you hit how far is it are all penalties under USGA. This was good video, i will will have to catch a few more from you all especially since this was shot just right down the street from me here in Hermitage
We're just out here having a good time and trying to make videos for you guys to enjoy! Sam was a blast to hang with and we are glad to be friends now. Thanks for watching brotha!
They might have to make a new level of handicap for me I think I could break course records for most strokes. Id be better off using my sand wedge and putters only
Me: watching the video but not particularly invested in it. 2.8 guy: Im the guy behind the "this is Chris" series. Also me: The f99k you say!!! Im now HEAVILY invested in this video! 🤣🤣
It’s been a minute since either of us have shot over 100 thankfully! However, we do tend to be pretty streaky! This month we have both shot in the low 90’s as well as high 70’s. Golf is a hard game!
Learn how the handicap system works before trying to make the guy (who seems a legit 2.8) seem like he is lying. GM Golf is a +2 handicap which is way better than a 2.8
Guys great videos, but you need to realize that your Handicap is what you can BEST score on you latest rounds. I’m a 3.9, it happens for me too shoot over 80 quite often actually. When you see pros are like +5 and you see them shooting 2 or 3 over par doesn’t mean they are 3 handicapers. Also to let you understand being a 3.9 a going for 2.8 like he his will take me time and a lot of practice! However I went from 10 to 7 after 8 rounds ( abt 1 month). I know a 1.2 handicaper who struggles a lot to come to 0 and he’s trying since 1 year lol
2.8 is not 2 or 3 bogeys per round, unless you are playing very easy courses. Even then unlikely. 2.8 is probably an average score of 77-79, which is then adjusted for slope.
