Back in 1979 fishing, Point Defiance rental boat before I had my first boat out of the young man I hooked into a 40 60 pound halibut and got it to the surface and it got away from us it was pretty exciting I was only 18 years old didn't know they had halibut in Puget Sound

Unfortunately they over fished the crap out of that area. That was the very first commercial halibut fisheries in the 1880s

i use harpoons on 70lb halibut not 30lbers

Because it is fun to harpoon halibut. Most of the time I gaff or just pull them over the side with the heavy leader, but sometimes it is just fun to harpoon. them. Thanks for watching.

Strength of those fish is insane, ever had one on the line? Most anglers shoot them before bringing em in.
