After seeing and learning how much damage introduced starlings do to our native woodpeckers, I decided to try my hand at trapping them. I made this trap using 1 inch square cage wire. The trap is baited with small pieces of home made suet and located beneath a suet feeder. I also put an entire suet block in the trap. The starlings enter through a funnel shaped opening but have trouble escaping.
