My teenage daughter also has PCOS, anxiety, depression and moody. It’s been over a year that everything has been moving forward and smoothly. The best thing we have done to help her is get a great team of professional to help her. Primary care physician, gynecologist, endocrinologist, psychiatrist, psychologist (cognitive behavioral), and the school social worker, most of them know each other, they read each others reports and blood work. It took a lot of work and a lot of research but she is finally getting the help she needs. She has lost 20 pounds and most of her symptoms are gone such as facial and back hair, depression, mood swings, acne to mention some. Now she is going out to college and has a really beautiful relationship with her boyfriend and friends. If possible please get a good team of professionals, I feel is better to know what exactly is the diagnosis so better treat it instead of trying many different things. Now we are in the search of a nutritionist and later a trainer (that has been more difícil because she refuses to work out. Best wishes for you girl.
You should design some merchandise. It's art, you're so talented. You've said so many hilarious things over the years. Ask people for their fav Bea quotes and then draw art to accompany and slap it on merchandise!! We'd pay for it
Hey Bea heyyyyyy! I’m so happy this video popped up! 🤗 Whenever I see you I get a rush of nostalgia for some reason. Love ya girl and your cute cut! 🥰 PS- My 35 year old daughter was diagnosed with PMDD and is on a low dosage of medication. She says it helps take the edge off. Will keep you updated.
Birth control does not treat PCOS, it just masks it. I have it too and my doctors tell me in more recent studies it's been linked to insulin resistance and in most cases using metformin (which is a diabetes medicine) helps to control it better. I'd say look for a gyno and maybe registered dietitian that specialize in PCOS to help if you're serious about it.
I call it waves of darkness. 😢 It hits me hard for 5 days pre menstruation. I try to write down anything that comes up and channel it like my superpower. Usually some of the worries are legit that I've been sweeping under the rug, so I try to tackle them. Others are okay sitting in my notebook. Good luck with everything, you rock!! ❤
I’m post menopausal and I still feel like I have the ups and downs of hormonal cycles, just not as extreme. I do have chronic depression but I notice that I have migraine headaches and lower energy, more mood swings, and feeling down on a cyclical time frame, and I’m 69 years old. These things can have strong effects on some women.
Nah, you gotta really trust your hairdresser and have full communication if you’re going to pay for a haircut, or it will end up being something you don’t want. It definitely can be worth it, but if you actually trust the person who’s handling your hair.
@@sarcasticj ? You have to trust someone professional with ///your hair/// like what girl? Alright just go into a random salon and hope you get lucky the person listens to you. Obviously there’s always a risk getting a loved one to cut your hair but you’re not facing a lack of funds and disappointment for doing so
I have PCOS and balancing my insulin was the best thing i did! I had low anxiety and depression. Also, lost weight faster, felt way better. I have insulin resistant pcos so it did amazing. I did the libre 2 sensor on my arm.
That Royal Gorge zip line is awesome…. I did it a couple of years ago and was terrified! Also, I’m well past 60, and screamed the entire way! It was a thrill! You have to admit it is a beautiful place. We’re very fortunate to live in such an amazing state! ❤
ADHD symptoms also can get worse around the period. So if you are medicating, you might need a higher dose. If you’re not, you may need to accomodate more 💕
Yup brought this up to my Dr and he said some women experience it the week before but for me the week after my period it's like...meds...where? I take them and it doesn't help. He told me I could double my dosage and I'm thinking ok but then I won't have enough meds for the month, plus no thanks that will jack me up.
@@JennsCorner777 Depending on what you're taking, you might be able to get 2 scripts, one for a long-acting and one for an immediate release version. My doctor trusted me to take the long acting daily and then take an immediate release as needed, such as on my period.
Yup, hormones are the worst and I only recently figured out how much correlation there was to my cycle and my emotional chaos. I suggest getting a calendar or app where you can write your mood or emotional upsets for each day. My period app has a place for this and notes. It’s definitely related. The most “normal” I’ve ever felt emotionally is when I’ve been pregnant, which is usually the opposite experience 😅
YOUR HAIRRRRRR. You look so fREAKING cute with that bob!! Glad you and Stevie were able to have a little break. Never feel bad about not vlogging! Even though we love you sharing your life with us, I'm sure it gets exhausting having to think about "oh I gotta vlog this" all the time. Be in the moment, Bea! Something I just remembered: back in undergrad, before I was officially diagnosed with generalized anxiety and depression (which wouldn't happen until I sought help after I graduated) and started SSRIs, I would take Valerian Root supplements when I could feel an anxiety attack coming on or if I needed help falling asleep. 1 valerian root tablet would help calm me down from an oncoming anxiety attack and 2 would make me sleepy. Could be something to try if you really feel like you need something to help in a pinch when you have anxiety. Also, totally feel you about the side profile thing. That happened to me at the zoo once, when I was playing with a river otter; I started running along the exhibit glass and it was swimming alongside me. So cute, right? Then, I saw the video my friends took of me playing with this otter and it was.... like watching a hippo try to run on dry land lmao
PMDD is no joke. Wellbutrin was my answer. It has made everything better. Down 25 pounds in 8 months. And the kicker is my diet really has not changed. I just have more energy to do things, and enjoy life. My PMDD is a level 8 or 9 it is BAD.
10:32 I use the ovasitol. It works well at balancing my hormones. The most obvious sign is the lack of acne and facial hair. Ashwaghanda or CALM is also great for improving my mood.
I was just coming down here to mention the fancy inositol! I make my own mixture because I'm cheap, but it works great. Between the inositol and the lymph drainage routine, it's manageable.
I have PMDD and my mood swings, anxiety and depression would get worst around the time of my period and would last for two weeks at a time. I would have panic attacks almost 3 times a week. I am on medication and a birth control that is progesterone only. It has truly helped me… I hope you are able to find what helps you bc I can definitely relate to the daily struggles with have PMDD. I love your videos and look forward to seeing them! ☺️☺️
I'm excited to hear more about your PCOS journey. I also have PCOS and I constantly get lost with what to do and how to make it better. I've commented on this before but you're the reason why I even know I have PCOS now. Sharing your story really helps me. Thank you for sharing Bea!
I started drinking spearmint tea and it has really helped with reducing chin hair! I buy loose leaf spearmint on Amazon and I’ve seen people comment about it having a horrible taste, but I have been drinking it with dry hibiscus flower and it tastes amazing like that! Look for dry hibiscus flower in Hispanic grocery stores, it’ll be $5-$6 a pound, because if you look online they will probably hike the price up like crazy and rip you off! You’ll find the dry hibiscus flower labeled as “Jamaica” in the stores! I bought a tea steeper fill it we both and drink it without sugar! I drink this everyday and have seen a huge difference! You can drink it hot or make a big pitcher and drink it cold since it’s summer time! Either way works and tastes great!
The boyfriend sounds like he's a keeper! When you said "we are the same person" I can relate so hard, that's how I feel about my husband. We just clicked. It's so easy to hang out and have fun together when you are with the right one.
Pmdd sucks so bad 😫 I just found out I’m insulin resistant this year and a lot of the symptoms overlap with my pmdd. I haven’t gotten a diagnosis for PCOS, but I have a lot of the symptoms for it as well. Insulin resistance goes hand in hand with it as does hirsutism which they also diagnosed me with. I’m more of a med free type person as well and just started working out again to help with some of the symptoms because it really does make a difference. When I stopped working out my symptoms went rampant, and it’s taken a looooooong time for me to feel up to working out again. Good luck on your journey, girl. You have a ton of support 🙌
I have PCOS too and my symptoms got worse as well after stopping birth control pills than they ever were before I was on the pill. Personally think they are terrible. With time and being healthy the symptoms will get better.
Nutrafol hormone blend helped me SO much and stopped my androgenetic alopecia. Reading ultra processed people by Chris Van Tulleken was pretty eye opening as well and shifting from an ultra processed diet did so much for the mental and physical health.
Missed you bestie! When I make salads I always toss just the greens in the dressing, and then add my toppings. Helps me use less dressing. I have a bit of a problem....😅 and I don't use vinaigrettes.
Hello Fellow pcoser here , I was on yaz for like 8 years, since I was 15 , and had a lot of issues with anxiety and candidas/infections all the fun stuff. I stopped taking yaz like 3 years ago. When I stopped I also started having bad acne and my periods went away. What helped me was taking gluten and diary out of my diet for about a year. It within like 2 -3 weeks cleared up my skin. After about a year I feel like my hormones balanced a bit and now when I eat gluten there isn’t an extreme reaction. Wish you luck 🍀
OK, all the health stuff re: hormonal BC and getting off of medications: guuuurl, same. I've been off for 6 weeks now and getting bloodwork done Friday, hoping for answers. However, I'm commenting because it's been suggested to me over and over to see a Functional Medicine Practitioner for hormonal issues. Going to do so asap. Just thought if you haven't, you might want to look into seeing one. I'm in New Mexico and there are several here, I'm not sure about where you are. I wish you the best of health!
I struggled for many many years with PCOS and stagnation of weight loss, and I refused to take hormones - what changed the game for me is metformin, after taking it, I started seeing results much faster and it helps with other PCOS symptoms - hormone free! I've been on it for 11+ years and it was the best decision ever. I second your sentiment with not having any medication, but this is a hormone-free option that works for many, many women as it addresses the insulin resistance and many of the thyroid side effects of PCOS - it also addresses the period issues (researchers don't know why or how), but it works! You may want to do your own research/discuss with your doctor :)
I also have PCOS and I felt seen and understood. The week before my period I have anxiety attacks and feel low. I used to take inositol but couldn't keep up buying it. I hope we find a way through this! Thank you for talking about it. ❤
Just started shark week too. What’s up cycle sisterrr haha. I totally get wanting to remedy it naturally first, good luck on your journey of healing! And keep up the good work, I can tell you are so strong! I can’t do most of those workouts you did and I hope to be able to soon! My goal this year is to get stronger and you are one of my inspirations for that!
I also have pcos and diabetes anxiety and bad inflammation. Carnivore diet has saved my life. It was hard at first and the sugar and carb addiction was real. But all the inflammation and anxiety has gone. Just wanted to share that I thought nothing would help me but this has changed my life.
I just love watching your vlogs your commentary and experiences are so relatable. You inspire without feeling preachy and help me feel like my little changes will also help me be a better person. Keep being you
I’m Proud of You! Life is sometimes just a mental fight the decluttering and pushing through is a Win - the little bits you do each day will one day make you a warrior
Hey Bea, random question, but have you ever thought about drawing a cartoon sitcom about your life and family? Whenever your mom and grandma are in the videos I always think I’d love to watch y’all in a sitcom, but imagine an adult cartoon! I’d love to see it and it would get you back into drawing again!
I totally feel ya about medications. I have hypothyroidism called Hashimoto's and recently started a one a day multivitamin regimen. It's annoying having to take it everyday but it is helping leveling out my outta control hormones along with other symptoms I've been having from the Hashi's. Maybe you could try a vitamin regimen too? I hope you feel better soon ❤
I just wanted to say thanks for the honesty. Before I got diagnosed with PMDD I took Women's Balance supplements by Gaia Herbs- the brand has since changed the name to Menopause Support but it's the same. I wasn't and am still not Menopausal whilst taking but it helped with depression, mood swings, and cramps. I'll probably start taking it again soon as my awful cramps are back.
Topical magnesium for cramping! Helps me so much. I use it every night before bed on my feet and legs to help anxiety and sleep anxiety noticed it also helped lessen cramping substantially!
@@JennsCorner777 yes you can! I get mine from a local health food store. It’s a spray the brand says “life-flo” you can find it online too! 😊 the first few times you use it your skin may feel itchy. The itching is a sign that your body is magnesium deficient and your skin is trying to absorb it so fast. The itching should stop in like a week.
I've had really terrible cramps and fatigue, and I recently started using yarrow root supplement. It's an anti-inflammatory, and it WORKS. This past time I have had the least amount of pain ever. For some reason I personally need the higher dose (2200 mgs about 5 times a day), but I'm just so glad I don't have to keep popping copious amounts of Aleve each month.
I have PMDD too. I haven't officially been diagnosed nor am I on any medication for it but I can definitely tell I have it. I get very depressed and anxious with mood swings, fatigue, insomnia, disassociation, etc about a week before my period. Some months are better than others. I have a feeling this month is going to be bad. I just entered "hell week" as I call it and I've been crying all day today for pretty much no reason. I'm also exhausted and took a 2 hour nap this afternoon (not sure how people with real jobs deal with this) after sleeping for 10 hours last night. This sucks!
Love the update! Thanks for sharing! I know you did a video on glp1s already. But did you know that many people using glp1 experience relief from PCOS🤷♀️
Manitou is great. We rented there for a few years and then had to move to Co Springs but we’re still close enough to enjoy Manitou. I like your short hair!
I have PCOS and PMDD as well. I use inositol- the brand Ovasitol specifically. I use Zoloft AS NEEDED when I have a bad PMDD day. It’s not the normal treatment but it works for me. I don’t take it every day, only on days when I’m in that luteal hell phase.
I just found a holy grail for my PMDD, and I am so happy because it is fully natural. I was struggling SO long with mood swings and hard depressions before period and I don’t understand why more people don’t talk about it. It is Chasteberry extract (lat. Vitex agnus-castus) completely natural stuff and I feel like human again! I still have moods like normal person but it is just so much easier to manage, no heavy cloud in my brain blocking me from life. Highly recommend!
Super cute cut! You might want to look up the "unicorn cut" basically you make 2 (or 3) ponytails on the front, middle crown and rear crown of your head.. then cut.. easy peasy! 🎉
Awesome update , but I wanted to say I also have PCOS and recently had my larger cysts removed cause they got inflamed so much pain but yeah softball size on both ovaries. I hate meds I can feel the hormonal changes. I totally understand what your going through. My weight is at a all time high and dairy and gluten seems to be the bad things but idk I'm also in denial cause bread is yummy. Lol anywho just saying hi and stay positive! Even in the chaos
PCOS is like diabetes of the uterus and surrounding areas. I've been treating it accordingly! It helps a lot. Lots of protein + all fresh veggies + electrolyte water. Avoiding dairy & and processed gluten. Then movement is simple... Just walking. I try to get to 10k steps each day But most days it's more like 8k steps. Also I'm very obese so I break up the walking into several sessions.
Bea- hope you feel better soon off meds and looking for natural alternatives. Personally, PMDD has been minimized, if not eliminated, with the following supplements: Vitex, 5htp, Omegas, Evening primrose oil, DIM, ashwaghanda, St. John’s wort, zinc and magnesium. It’s a lot, but SO worth it to not feel those awful symptoms every.single.cycle. Hope this helps ❤
wishing you all the best B! you're a huge inspiration to myself and many others in this strange place called the internet. Thank you for sharing your story, as hard as it may be sometimes. wishing you more good days than bad, more easy moments than difficult and smiles as wide as the ones you bring to us. lots of love from south africa
I've been off contraceptives for well over 2 years now. I mostly love it. I'm much more intune with my body. I stopped because of my weight and age, it was becoming too risky to stay on them. But the acne! I was using it originally for acne...my acne is hidden on my boobs but it's SOOO ANNOYING. I use aha scrubs and it helps it a little but then sometimes it just comes out in full force. But the PMS is for real...I get sooo moody a week or 2 before my period.
South Park convinced me that I do not need to attempt zip-lining 😂 That is a really good idea to set a timer! I’m going to try that and see if it helps keep me on track (I tend to daydream during tasks, LOL). And love the haircut, you and momma did good! I’ve been doing intermittent fasting and walking which are working wonders, but I keep falling off track because of depression, job change, hormones, depression…ugh. We got this. Baby steps ☺️
Girl! I too have PMDD and the transition off birth control is tough. I switched to taking Vitanica Uplift supplements and a Zyrtec a day. The antihistamine has been life changing in the best way. Many people have also had success with Claritin but that wasn't as good as Zyrtec to me. I take it before bed to avoid any drowsy effects. Also The Happy Hormone Guide cookbook by Shannon Laparski has great recipes in it for each part of cycle.
Hey Bea! For PCOS try taking calcium magnesium and zinc! You may already know but these 3 are crucial for menstrual health. Magnesium will be really helpful for anxiety as well. I went from having crazy irregular periods as much as 2 months apart with a week of depression and WAY worse ADHD before each period and just generally feeling like shit with awful cramps. I started taking the calcium magnesium and zinc supplement from trader joe’s and within a month or two my periods were exactly 30 days apart, very light cramping, much more stable mood. really changed things for me
I love Manitou Springs! My sister lives in Colorado Springs. The library branch in Manitou has an art center that she uses the print facility at. Their library offerings are far above any I've heard of elsewhere
Kelp and dong qui have helped my sister and me with lady hormone stuff, especially after getting off BC. We took kelp every day and dong qui every day when not bleeding for 3 months 💕💖💕
I've been on the pill since I was 15 and came off at the beginning of this year for the first time (now 35 years old) and I kept getting this random couple of days of being insanely depressed and emotional, and I just couldn't stop crying, I realised that each one of them lines up with about a week before my period starts. It's such a weird thing to realise you've never had a normal period as an adult! I'd always said I don't get pms but no I realise the pill was just blocking it all!
Ahhhhh! I’ve been to the royal gorge!!! The very first time I drove across the country, we came here, with our two cats (cross country with road trips is really hard). We were curious if the cats would freak out or not. My cat growing up would howl when we drove him Across the George Washington bridge from nyc to nj. I felt so bad for poor kitty. Anyway super cool you went! We didn’t get to spend any time there bc, well the aforementioned. So happy you’re taking the time to live your life and moments instead of always trying to record. It’s exhausting!
❤I’ve missed seeing you! Your videos make me happy. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with the world. You deserve all good things! Sending love always ❤

The profile thing got me in my soul. Not only do we have to suffer the assault from our phone camera settings being left on "selfie" mode while we look down at it, but now my nonexistent jawline and the beginning of what appear to be jowls and my back hump take me out when I catch my profile in the mirror when checking my hair. I now avoid mirrors that show anything below my shoulders and only front view, thank you very much. Also, I think I may have PCOS that was never diagnosed... did you know that you could have PCOS come on even as you traverse the peri-menopause world? Being a woman is such a joy. LOL Anyhow- love you so much... and you are beautiful.
I have ADHD and PMDD too, it’s a nightmare 😢. Get your testosterone checked. Women start losing it in their 20’s and the depletion speeds up as we age. A lot of the symptoms of low testosterone are the same as PMDD and ADHD. While it would still be taking something, it’s not medication, so that might be a good option, if your levels are low. It has really helped me! Also, Slynd birth control was a lifesaver. It’s progesterone-only. Not everyone responds well to it, but if you do, it can change your life. Good luck and keep trying! It’s a long, tough road but you’re strong and can kick ass❤
Holy shit girl! You just gave me so much medical insight in this one comment, thank you! Recently diagnosed adhd and already diagnosed pmdd, tell me why my primary wouldn't let me see the endocrinologist? Ughh male Dr.'s sometimes. I'm going to have to try again or go the online test route. If it's the hormones I wonder if taking them would help my symptoms of all my poor brain fog. ❤ You're a gem for sharing ✨️ .
Most women with PCOS have too much androgens (T). That’s why we accumulate weight in the middle, have excess facial hair, and can have acne and hair loss/ thinning
PMDD is no joke, I have it and use a mostly estrogen birth control to manage it that I take mostly continuously because I notice the symptoms immediately during placebo weeks. For me, it's a life saver.
We live in northern Colorado and day trips are the way to do it! Our most recent trips have been garden of the gods, bents old fort, fort Larimie in Wyoming, steamboat springs, red feather, meow wolf (if you haven’t gone- please do- 100% worth it), fort garland and San Luis, Trinidad state park, we also hit New Mexico State parks a lot. We camp so usually an overnight. Contact me for info if you want. :-)
Anti depressants can be prescribed to be taken only during PMDD times just in case you decide to go back to that route! Hormonal birth control only made mine worse, herbal remedies weren't quite enough, but the pills one week out of the month worked great. Obviously, everyone is different, just sharing and suggesting!
I have PCOS too and just went off of metformin to see what I could do without being on it. It's been rough. I have insulin resistance and it's been kicking my behind and I've gained 20lbs since. I'm gonna give it another month of really kicking my behind to exercise and eat right (which I've been doing) and if I'm still gaining, I'm gonna go back on it. FX that we both find a way to manage our bodies without medication
I switched from yaz to vienva about 5 years ago and things changed for the better that I didn’t even realize I had an issue with. But my acne did return at 28 😂 now I require acne face & body wash and use a Paula’s choice acne body treatment.
I am using inositol for PCOS. 6 months now. It’s incredible Bea, it’s really helped with anxiety and depression too (and constipation!!! 😂) and I noticed a difference after a couple of weeks xxx
Hi, I wanted to comment on the hormone illness. My daughter who is in her 30's, found out her adrenal glands were out of whack and causing many of the same symptoms you described. Once she and her doctor worked through healing that, she s been off of meds. And btw, I can see clearly a weight loss or a tightening of muscles from when I first began watching, which has been several years. 🌟🌟
I have the same conditions and I recently got back on birth control, metformin, and of course I have my trusty antidepressant. I’m interested to see how your journey goes as I am terrified to go off my meds as my mood swings and symptoms were taking over my life for two weeks of every month. Its so exhausting and I really admire your willingness to try. I’m only 24 and feel like I’ve spent my entire womanhood in a body at war.
