Hi, I hope this helps anyone with ripped leaves due to improper unfurling like your El Chocó: El Chocó is a jungle region between Colombia and Ecuador. I'm Colombian. That particular rainforest is absurdly hot. It rains constantly there. I think it may rain more there than in the Amazon (also part of Colombia). I don't have an El Chocó. But, I've had the same problem with a White Bird of Paradise. I tried steam, changes in light, humidity, re-poting, etc. I found the issue is due to lack of enough water absorption. This may be through a damaged root system (not my case), or soil that is too chunky, in combination with less water frequency than the plant requires ✔️. The later, seems to be consistent with your El Chocó issue. The moss pole will help with providing more water and much needed support. But, in addition, you may also try: • an aeroid mix with a bit more coconut bark to retain more moisture or • perhaps a plastic self watering pot or • increase the water frequency. I'm often weary of root rot on aeroids, so I prefer to increase water frequency on chunky aerated soil. I hope this helps. Since I found the issue, my bird of paradise is unfurling beautifully and has produced 30% larger leaves ❤ PS: You may want to try the same thing with your Anthurium Waroqueanum to get it to grow. I find Anthuriums do better in self watering pots. In terms of humidity, I have ceiling fans (super important) and I keep humidity between 55-65%. Surely my plants could appreciate more humidity, especially Anthuriums, but I too have to live here 😅

Hey, succulent collector here! I must have around 400 now, counting seedling pots. Started as the simple succulent collection and now I'm more into mesembs (lithops and conophytum) and globular cacti. I think it's just as fun as aroids, the plants are typically much smaller so it's also easier to collect when tight on space :) I just don't think there's a big market to sell those plants. They're very cheap for the amount of time they take to grow. If you do plant conventions, come to the ELK one year! It's incredible (north of Belgium) and you can find some real rarities you've never seen before.

Over the last year I've become obsessed with curly whirly succulents. They're truly bizarre looking and so far I've found them pretty easy to grow especially from seed.

I have around 15 different cacti and succulents, without them the windows sills would be empty, since the light is the strongest and there's not much space for bigger plants there :)) they are the reason I started my plant journey

I used to like succulents more when I wasn’t as into plants. I think succulents are very cute, but ultimately they just don’t bring me as much joy as other points. At this point, I have about 50 plants, and maybe 2 are succulents (both of which were gifts). I’ve given away a lot of my succulents over the years as well. EDIT to say: I do love a pretty succulent dish! Still don’t know if it’s something I want to keep myself, but I love looking at them!

I am obsessed with succulents! They're my favorite. I have a little succulent cabinet, but I also have them all over my house. I've also grown lithops from seed (it's been a year and they are VERY SMALL)

To answer your question, I love succulents, they're the ones I started with. I always have more propagations than I know what to do with, luckily I know some people who are always happy to get new baby plants lol. I don't have the humidity or space for nice big aroids, so I watched videos like your to fill my need for them, and I have my succulents and others to fill my need for actually growing plants :)

I started with succulents. I have two overgrown aloes to deal with soon (they keep having babies!) But they also bloom every year for me so they must be happy. I also started my jade plant obsession many years ago because my mother had a jade mother that was HUGE. I had to start over with my succulents some years ago and have a lot of plants but not as many as you do!! I like succulents because they tolerate being neglected.

I absolutely love succulents and cacti. Aloes were one of the first plants I fell in love with when I was little, and now that I'm an adult I want to get as many aloe varieties as I can! In the past year or so I've also really loved tropical cacti. Eventually I want a grow tent just for succulents and cacti and to grow from seed! But for now, they are sharing a tent with my tropicals/foliage plants.

I really like succulents. I don't have a big collection of them. I have a couple of echeveria. I avoid etiolation by not watering them in the winter. They look awful for the winter months, but they always come back to life when I water them and have them outside in the summer.

I’m a big fan of Hoya linearis, don’t have one just yet, but the other I adore is the carnosa compacta, I’ve got 3, 2 potted up together, I’ve got quite a few succulent varieties, not many regular ones you find everywhere, I like the funky ones, they’re almost 1/3 of my collection about 25-30 I think

I’ve been growing and collecting succulents for 15+ years, all outdoors. ( warm part of Australia) they thrive on neglect and sunshine,, Their color really comes out from the sun. After going crazy on collecting house plants,i kinda forgot my succulents, now after seeing more RU-vidrs show them I’m starting to appreciate my succulents again.the more quirky and unusual the better! Loved this video and girl! That red looks good on you! ❤💚🪴

I probably have 100+ succulents. I started with them when I got into plants about 4ish years ago. I don't collect them as much now, except Aeoniums and a few Echeverias that I've always wanted but were way too expensive. I have 3 large shelving units in my backyard filled with succs only. Aeoniums and a select few other succs are sprinkled throughout the rest of the house :D I also collect "fluffy" (leafy) plants and have hundreds of those too. lol. Thanks ADHD for the wild hyper-focus hobbies 😁 On another note, I am new to your channel and I love it. You're fun and easy going. (Also love a plant mom who cusses. I cuss like a truck driving sailor) Happy New Year! Have fun, be safe, and make good choices!

Oh my goodness, good thing succs don't take up as much space as other plants 😁. You've got quite the collection going 😉, how much work is it to maintain so many succs? Should be less than leafy plants, or am I mistaken?! 😅 I'm glad you enjoy the video, always happy to hear such kind feedback 💚 Greetings from Germany 👋

I really really love succulents but I don't live in a fantastic climate for them as of now, so I've just got my snake plant. I want to collect echeverias but they're really hard to keep here since the soil takes like a year to dry even if it's like literally sand. They just absorb themselves to death.

Hi, I've got a question. I'm currently growing my tropical plants in a grow tent and my wondering is should I have positive or negative pressure? Meaning do I want my air being sucked out of my tent or should I have air being blown into the tent? My worry is is I don't want contaminants to cause any damage or excess moisture. Just wondering what your thoughts were on that. Thank you so much! As always, love your videos and your plants😊
