You know how Hollywood is hyped over Meryl Streep and her career? I honestly believe that Cate Blanchett is on the way to being that appreciated and celebrated, she's truly an incredible actress
Matty RM I think Cate is Meryl's heir, to be honest. They share that ability of being able to create and inhabit a character to the point where they just disappear and you see that character, that person fully formed, even with their very distinct features. It's amazing that no one has yet to find the right material to put them together in a movie.
I remember an interview where Rooney described about Cate's piercing blue eyes and alabaster skin and so on. I thought what's she talking about??? ^^ And Me: Listening to her voice, looking at her lips, I just can't look away from her. Actually I know what Rooney was talking about 😄 Cate's one of my idols. Her elegance always impresses me, it makes me fall in love again and again 😊
She's the best actress of our time and a nice person too: smart, articulate, versatile, brave, witty. She can do anything and pull it of convincingly. I'd love to see her on stage. How about a Europe tour Cate (London, Paris, Berlin)?
I'm currently reading the book ("Carol" aka "Price of Salt"). It's uncanny, during the "First Lunch Date" scene, how Cate PERFECTLY embodies Highsmith's description!
tgflux I agree I started the book at 8am today and finished 1:40am and absolutely loved it baring in mind i had seen the film 18 times the book fills the gaps of the film like with richard and dannie but also with therese and her love for carol great read absolutely loved it would recommend any day to anyone xxx
I think the lovely person she is in interviews and in Carol is who she is in real life. Cate and Rooney are poetry in motion together. Absolute brilliance. They say it takes a minute to find a special person. An hour to appreciate them, A day to love them....... And an entire life to forget them.❤️
I just watched this film the first time, yesterday. Where was I that I didn't see it in 2015? Since yesterday, I've watched it twice as well as certain scenes at least 10 times. Went to sleep thinking about it & woke up seeing Terese's long gaze towards Carol in the opening scene.
Okay so for those who don't know 0:16 Cate mentions Hindu Goddess "Kaali" most fierce form of Divine Feminine with 8 arms. She holds weapons in most, wears limbs of the evils she kills, as clothes. Heads of the dead evils as her garland. Drinks blood and wine.
The female gaze in this movie is nearly a character on its own. I came here for the title, but there wasn't any mention of it. 4 years later...still can't get enough of this movie.
