Like your comment concering the tank welds made back in the late 30's thru late 40's all they had was SMAW [stick] and for production welding of sheet and light plate steel E6012 run on DC- electrode negative, [electrode mfgr's had 2 or 3 varieties of E6012's to best fit the applications] using motor-generator welders...the best for stick welding to this day IMHO. All manual welding of the Old Cats was done with flavors and large sizes of E6012's E6020 HOT RODS {the forerunner to todays E7024} The welders were of the highest skilled or they did not get the job or hold it very long!🙃
Before you work on that tank, be sure to review Squatch’s 10 part series on camo, aging and patina. Follow his lead and no one will be able to tell where one old Cat ends and the next old Cat begins, lol. Good luck with the remaining repairs. 🥸👍🔧✅
Spill the beans, Kyle. Did You know about Squatch253’s D2 cab before we did? Once we saw the cab, we understood his OCDism about the paint. Finn and Milo………such good bois! Keep up the good work!
So if the seat is in place how does it feel to you as far a leg comfort since you plan to have plenty of seat time, Then again without the height extension. You know that operator comfort is important also your vision field.
