Sure CAT bought MAK to understand how large bore Diesels work, won't let my mouth loose here but the guys that know MAK engines know what has happened afterwards and the rest is history. They are MAK engines, CAT makes smaller ones.
We just put newer leafspring on a W900L, so the new cat motor will ride level. 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Just not sure how many axles we're going to need to hold it up.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙄

After the engine run test is the oil drained and some sort of Rust inhibitor used inside the crankcase to stop corrosion before the engine is fitted to a ship ort tug etc

i know better and simply knowing better and having the childlike impulse to have a sword fight with actual engine valves are two vary different things. im not even remotely making this up or joking the first thing i imagined when seeing those huge valves is there size comparison to me and how it would look holding or even swinging one

The only reason, and I was with MaK at that time Cat and MaK is a match in heaven is, where Cat, a highest out engine stops, MaK takes over with their baby M20. That is for one, second having Cat’s and Mak’s under one roof, company could now offer whole propulsion solutions and generators solutions. There were talks to acquire Scana Volda as well to offer clutches and props. Wartsila at that time were very aggressive buying anything they could offering complete ships solutions. MaK and Cat would find it hard to compete with if not merge. Customers did and still do prefer one point of contact still. For us working form the company, it become better with Cat. We still had the German quality engines which are in my opinion best in the world, yes better than any American engine. But we also got the American Cat organisation system which made our welfare better and office job more easy and streamlined. Most of you know absolutely nothing about anything.

This has nothing to do with Caterpillar. These are MAK engines. "Caterpillar world-class manufacturing of MaK Marine engines..." is a strange way of lying. It's Like saying "Audi hot-shot manufacturing of Lamborghini cars...." Caterpillar has a reputation of bullying and bragging. They did the same with EMD. Caterpillar engines are not that bad that they need to dress themselves in borrowed plumes.
Please can somebody extend the raw water strainer, to micro-filter plastic from the oceans, 10% should be micro-strained, on each and every new marine engine, and eventually we can clean up. I can think of no other way, and it will work....eventually. The plastic is now so small, and ingested by all sea life. This is an idea I had, so take it on somebody, and make a fortune if you want, if the by-product is an earth fit for my descendants. pax and gratis. if someone builds a prototype, and it works, ie 10% of cooling intake is micro-filtered, then a nobel prize would occur. think on it! hundreds of thousands of engines, now filtering the oceans...it has to succeed eventually. Folk have worked out systems to clean up the plastic islands...please hurry! and this will clean up what's left...eventually.
