My Sigma rox 4.0 does more for less money, including navigation, has barometric altimeter, 24h battery life. Cateye used to be the top dog, what happened?
Yes, I'm surprised as well, Cateye is a great brand but their lights / computers are definitely behind the curve compared to other brands on the market.
Do you have to "record" every ride, as I use my phone to record Strava. So can I just ride & use it to see my speed, odometer, etc. - or does it have to record for those things to work?
I believe you still have to start the recording (pushing down on the bottom half or pressing power button) to see all your riding metrics and trip data. With this computer everything is pretty simple though, starting a recording is a single button and everything is automatically saved when you power down. If you don't care about the data you can just let it accumulate on the device and it will automatically overwrite the older data once the memory is full. However, if you really want something basic you might want to try the CYCPLUS G1 - that doesn't even record data (it just tracks current metrics and odometer) and is under $30.
Thank you, will look up the model you suggested. Thing is I have a Niterider 1200 lumin light & know that any analogue wireless set up will interfere with it's operation. So hence the reason I was looking at this. Have used Cateye CC-RD410DW (2.4 ghz), which is unaffected by powerful lights. (However this model is unavailable). Appreciate your advice, cheers.
Does this work under tree canopy? I've read there are issues if you're under the trees. I'm having that issue w/the Padrone Plus. What a waste of money that was.
That's surprising to hear. GPS signal shouldn't cutout unless your really somewhere with a lot of interference. I've only seen it cut out in longer tunnels and not our local canyons.
@@TheSweetCyclists It was not the Air GPS. It was the Padrone Plus. I ride on a trail with a pretty heavy canopy of trees in places, but not the whole ride. The padrone was doing crazy things. I contacted Cateye & they are supposed to send me a replacement. If it happens again, I will go to AirGPS or Coospros.
@@TheSweetCyclists Same. Except for the CCRD410DW computer, no issue due to 2.4 Ghz. But neither Cateye or anyone else still does a 2.4 Ghz version anymore.
