I have the older model of this and just got this version today. I really only use them for day/night commuting and daytime running lights. The last strobe I find good for bike paths/dual use paths during the day but not once it gets dark for obvious reasons. I haven't had a problem with them and love them. For longer rides and Night MTB rides I use AY-UP lights which run from a separate battery pack. If I am using the AY-UP lights for road riding I sometimes have the cat eye light on flash too to help ID me as a cyclist and get that bit more noticed.
Appreciate the comment. I know what you mean about the flash helping identify you as a cyclist. A solid beam doesn't necessarily do this, does it? I have a set of small usb 'blink-blink' lights, and one that attaches to the back of my helmet, for commuting, as my commute has always been on well light roads. The Cateye covers everything else and like you I'm pretty pleased with it overall. Thanks for the mention of the AY-UP lights. Never heard of these before but will check them out. Happy cycling!
Thanks. Had this light for ages now and still rate it. If money was no object I'd definitely have a Brompton in the 'collection'. Susanna Thornton makes some cool YT videos of tours on hers. Happy cycling!
i have that light on my touring bike. i try not to ride in the dark tho. i have other lights as well, i have a couple of bike hut lights. i did have videos about them, and when i put the videos on you tube, i had loads of people saying they are rubbish lights. yet they are still working after a few years of use.
Thanks for the comment. If you've got gear that works for you, and keeps on working for years, you can't really ask for more than that! Happy cycling (with cake stops!).
I'm here looking for a way to switch mines on as the one rubber covered bitten as either let damp in or the switch as failed completely & I can't find my cash receipt also bought in lockdown LOL
Hi there, I have same light. On the user manuel it is writen that when battery is fully charged, red light button will turn off. But my battery after 8 hours of charging still showing red light, even battery is fully charged🤔 So my question is, does battery indicator turns off when battery is fully charged or not??? Thanks in advance.
That seems a bit strange and could be a fault and/or it's not charging fully. My light is a few years old now but if I remember right, when it charges the main button turns from red (low battery) to green, to show fully charged. Can't remember if it turns off completely but it doesn't stay red.
@@onemorecyclist I managed to fully charged my battery. Because I have tested light on maximum power, and it last for 95 minutes as it should be. Only thing is that battery indicator durring charging is always red i.e. never turns off as it is mentioned in user manuel... Thanks for reply
The AMPP1100 looks to have the same battery life on the higher settings. Some people will want to go brighter for sure, depending on the riding they do. For me the 800 was and is bright enough for where I ride and around the time I bought it I was also reading about overly bright bike lights being a nuisance to other road users - as I'm primarily a road cyclist (with a few light trails now and then) this was another consideration at the time of buying. Thanks for the comment and happy cycling!
