Join me for a fun day on the water as I hop aboard a friend's boat for some impromptu bait fishing! Since I'm on someone else's boat, I'm using a chesty mount for a different filming angle as we target various bait fish. I start off with Trout Magnet plastic lures, but quickly switch to the Gulp minnows everyone else was using-they were catching fish like crazy! I’ll also share an easy technique anyone can use to catch these fish, but one thing I learned is that an ultralight rod and reel with 4-pound or less line is a must. Tossing those tiny Gulp minnows on my setup was a bit tricky, so I had to switch to a bigger one, which worked almost as well. Although we were hoping for some skipjacks too, we didn’t land any this time. Overall, it was a great day, and I ended up with some fresh bait for catfishing later.
