Wow a fantastic looking castle. A shame the fog was so thick. I bet the views are amazing. It does look like a very well thought out defensive stronghold. I’m not sure I would enjoy the steps though. Great tour with brilliant info. Thanks for taking us around. 👏🏻👏🏻. Keep It up. Take care. 🙏🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️. Watto.
Thanks for your kind words, Watto! The steps actually weren't so bad with this one. Climbing the pog of Montségur was worse, but so worth it 😀! Keep safe. The History Hikers
Great review ! 👌👍 There is also a defensive room accessible through a tunnel dug into the rock under the castle but the entrance of this tunnel is hidden in the shade, many visitors pass by without seeing it.
We have realised we may have missed some things. 😊 The fog was really thick that day. We will definitely return one day and explore what we missed! Thanks for watching 👍
are you both french? the girl has a beautiful accent. my dream is to visit cathar fortress and queribus is my beloved one. you have beautiful passions, defensive architecture has fascinated me since childhood. greetings from Poland ❤️
Hey, no we are both Belgian and speak Flemish / Dutch as a native language, however we do have French as a second language here, so that's probably why Jente's French sounds so convincing 👍. Great to hear of another castle fan, there are plenty of great castles in Poland as well, we'd love to visit it one day too!
@@TheHistoryHikers i speak well german and spanish but with french and dutch i have a problems to learn hihi, i was in Gent and brugie month ago, amazing old cities the brugie most. When you will come poland Olsztyn castle and Krzyżtopór is best one. I the future i will visit belgium again, could you add me your 3 favorit castles there???
Malbork isn't one of your favorites?😄 It's supposed to be huge! Our picks for Belgium: Gravensteen (Ghent, you may have already seen it), Bouillon (we don't have a video made for it yet) and Montaigle (we do have a video in this one on the channel).
Thanks! Getting to the castle wasn't too bad, parking is relatively high up. Reaching the top of the castle takes a couple of hundred steps I think? 😅 In our perception Montsegur was worse 👍
