I’m a GCSE art student and I’m currently looking into different art museums. I’ve heard a lot of people say that photography isn’t art but, really it is. Photography takes so long to get right, which this video shows. Getting the lighting right, the angle, all of it takes time and thought. The creativity in these photos are just wow. The way that the camera shows the corridors and reflects the light looks amazing.
Catherine Yass - Finding Photography | Tate 1522pm 12.5.23 photography isn't art. it's the easiest of the artistic practices. if it is art. which i doubt. i need to take umbrage with the fact that this was seen as a collective endeavour when that is not the case with reference to other "artists". one man's experience doesn't mirror another person's etc... it does inform the state of mind the photographer was dealing with as he shot his imagery not to mention the state of mind of those who might take his desire to shoot imagery as a personal affront. not to mention the lazy douches who steal another man's labour - the noble art of intellectual property rights come into play on this score. with the onset of digital you will find that image creation is ten-a-penny and means little these days. so take up dark room image processing.... most folk are supposed to have an angle on aesthetic matters or have a certain stance with reference to image creation and/or photography. i would say have no particular viewpoint from which to deal with your subject matter - otherwise it's a sham or yer acting like a del boy.. a wide boy of the photographic world. hahahahha... you could be a purist and take matters from a purely scientific standpoint - in which case all your images will be direct representations of the frame shot.... and should, by rights, align themselves with the rule of thirds, perfect lighting, positioning of object/subject matter etc etc etc or you could be dealing with your own personal whims and having to deal with constant infractions on your own personal space as you attempt to collate a body of work... a great many variables come into play when dealing with this tired old art form... hobbyist pursuit.... not just the matter of desperately grasping at the nearest visage or vista to hand. p.s ironic that people, to cement their relationship with the world or have themselves acknowledged within it, feel the need to be part of an image, or collate such images for posterity. as if their presence alone was not enough. as if technology had to be the stamp of approval for their existence........... p.s also, beware the go-pro man who sets down various little cams across the streets and the roadsides as he collates the day-to-day activities of your community... the grasping voyeur, in that respect.
Cool thoughts on community development between printers and photographers. have enjoyed listening to a British accent. Pleasant vibe in the video as a whole, good music at the background.
used to run around a dark room, and appreciated an insight into what my work might have been if I'd not chosen another pathway...and I'm setting up a photographic gallery at present.
