@@johnpro2847 Thanks to Roman control of literature, we have Jesus hanging on a tree for 2000 years, for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13. You ignore the moral problem of indoctrination & the vocabulary of fantasyland. Faith is worthless as prayer. Nothing fails as perfectly as prayer in a children's hospital. Faith is worthless as a mustard seed. The interpretation is correct & supported by "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13. Your apologies for faith have only begun to cover what is in my comment. Jesus Christ is a curse, propaganda, Freud was correct: "The antidote to Christianity is literacy". You ignore the fact, not all of us can pretend prophesy & God exist. That is why Jesus Christ says, "Think not I come with peace, but sword". It is amusing to hear the profound arrogance of someone knowing of God, as if He were known outside of fiction. The believer & the literate are separated by the vocabulary of fiction: Blasphemy, God, faith, prayer, prophet, scripture etc. Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I like asking believers how they can possibly think their faith is respectable, given Jesus said faith is worthless, since you can't expect obedience when ordering mountains to move? Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy". "Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall". What is The Catholic faith? Organized crime, indoctrinating children with a fantasyland vocabulary? When men are free of religious notions they write, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy." "My sheep hear My voice" is the mindset of slavery. Once free of it, there are no suggestions we all travel better by having one foot in a stranger's fantasyland or Garden of Eden. A mind free of religious text is not tortured by pretending Divinity made Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel, having pasted their books on to them both. Those looking for the sign of a resurrection, are a vile, "Wicked Generation" seeking signs, led by "wolves in sheep's clothing". "The only sign is that of Jonah"; a believer murdered by other believers. Chained to the slavery of faith, they write: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 One must be insanely arrogant to suggest knowing something of a God. It is by boldness, Moses became the world's worst navigator, by having one foot in some fantasyland. There is a fine line between fishing & standing on the shore, looking like an idiot. Fail to get the Jews to buy it for 2000 years & they should know who their Messiah is. Jesus is a fake, to immortalize the war against the Jews. Jesus Christ is crucified for all time in literature & the subjects of Rome are illiterate. Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy" & the joke is in the scriptures. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 An improvement on your God & faith; would outlaw indoctrination & abuse of the vocabulary of fiction on children. @@laurenley3234 Entropy is a scientific concept that is most commonly associated with a state of disorder, randomness, or uncertainty. The term and the concept are used in diverse fields, from classical thermodynamics, where it was first recognized, to the microscopic description of nature in statistical physics, and to the principles of information theory. It has found far-ranging applications in chemistry and physics, in biological systems and their relation to life, in cosmology, economics, sociology, weather science, climate change, and information systems including the transmission of information in telecommunication. In other words the universe is presently in a state of high entropy or high confusion. And in the midst of this a human blood cell and a human eye appears, proof of exactly the opposite . This could never happen if it was not for a designer, a first mover whom we call God.
@@judycannon1892 When Scripture is being read, I concentrate very hard on it and so notice when extraneous sound is mixed with it. Of course, I believe that when the word of God is read or otherwise proclaimed, it should be treated with reverence and not disturbed in any unnecessary way.
If you think there is only one heaven or hell, be prepared to be surprised by all the rooms in the heavenly and hellish hotels humanity has built for itself to reward saints and aints
Another viewpoint is that the true "You" has always "existed" and will always "exist" being beyond time and beyond "existence" itself...this is not a belief but it is a realization that your physical bodily existence in this universe most certainly has a beginning and an end, your body and mind will come to an end....but the real "You" is beyond all of these things, all of these ideas but is reachable and realizable within the limits of your mental capacity to realize it....
@@kenhoyer8601No, religion relies in evidence and a real experience, otherwise no one would believe the faith. Just like the worldview you hold, actually.
Biblical words and names are Farsi/Persian, some are listed below: Jew "جا - jaa" = Room / Home / Shed Jesus "جاساز - jaa-saaz" = Home builder Christ " - kaar-ast/kare-dast" = The work we do using our hands to build a home, determines the owner of that house Genocide "جا نساز - jaa-na-saaz" = Do not build home Genesis "جا نسازید - jaa-na-saazeed" = Do not build house (purell for genocide) Gabrael "این جا بروید - jaa-beraveed" = Leave this home, executor of eviction Palestine "پا و دستان - paa-va-dastan" = Legs and hands, [construction] workers, carriers, porters Disciple "دست و پا دا ر - dast-va-paadar" = Having [skilled] hands and legs for work Jacob "جاکوب - jaa-koob" = Home demolisher Joseph "جا زاد - jaa-zaad" = The male who was born in that home Jouda "جدار - jaa-daar" = One with home, not homeless John " - jaa-ye-man" = My home [in the future] Judea "جادارها - jaa-daarha" = Those who have house (opposite of homeless) Moshe "مال من میشه - maale-man-mysheh" = It will be mine Noah "نهرها - nahhar" = Rivers, water streams Magi "مانده جا - marde-jaa" = The man who knows the owner of the home and land Hashem "خاکشه - khakesh-eeh" = This soil belongs to him, the owner of the all the soils / dirt of the world Maryam "مادرم - maadaram" = My mother, being a mother Mary "مادری - maadary" = Motherhood, a girl who is expected to be a mother (roots for madam, Ms and Mrs) Jahad "جا بخواه - jaa-bekhah" = Demand for having a home (not an enslaved on someone else's land) Salvation "ساختمان بشین - saakhte-man-beneshin" = To live in your own built house and living in there Babylon "کار است - کار دست - bara-baran" = Equals, people who shared the land equally amongst themselves Malachi " - malekan" = Landlords, owners of the houses. At that time there were no postal addresses, people used to put their name or their statue to claim the occupation of the home, like "Hassan's Home" so every name was followed by the word " jaa", later the tribe of yahoodies claimed the word "jaa" as their names to claim all the properties. Noah also picked the name "river" so they can also claim ownership of all the water bodies on land. Hashem is the same, to claim the ownership of all the soils in the world because of a name.
One of the trickiest things to do is to try to explain a view, biblically, based on what is implied or seems to be said, as opposed to what is blatantly said, explicitly said. I think that doctrine can only come from what is explicit and that what is implied can only add weight to what is explicit. In regards to Life after death, what is explicit is that people die, their spirits go to heaven ( To be with God/return to God). The state they are in while in heaven is one of "like sleep" where they are aware of nothing (know nothing)and that there will be a "life after life after death", with a new resurrected body on a new Earth.
The safest course was actually the simplest-do nothing at all and hope everything turned out for the best. It wasn't a great plan, but it had the benefits of simplicity and a long tradition. ― Jasper Fforde, Shades of Grey
Just as the Christian would say that God is uncreated & has always existed, let's remove God and say that the universe is uncreated and has always existed in one form or another. As we know, the universe is always changing and may never cease to exist. The universe brings forth life in all forms and life changes through evolution to what we see today. There is no need for a god to be in that equation. Secondly, it seems the only reason the bishop is a "good man" is because he wants to go to heaven and not burn in hell. Strange. I'm a good man and care about people because IT's THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I'm not longing to meet a god after death and be happy with it for all eternity. I'm looking to make this world, right now, the best place it can be for all people because after death, I will rest in the earth dead - and that's ok. Living forever simply to worship a god would be exhausting. Lastly, it is impossible to know, this side of death, if what the bishop is saying is true but he sure makes his claims like he knows, but he doesn't.
Humans are body and soul. Our bodies are in the ground when we die, our souls arise to the afterlife. In the final judgement, the spirit will be reunited with our glorified body and go to the appropriate final destination.
First point: the existence of God isn't asserted out of the blue, but rather, it is actually a question. How can all of this just be? Where did it come from? Is there a hidden power at work in this marvelous world? You rightly wonder if it might last forever. That is self-evident in your own mind kind of question which leads to the possibility of design by a maker. Second point: you observe within yourself a very clear sense of right and wrong. Philosophers such as Immanuel Kant call this the inescapable moral imperative. All of us have it as human beings. It is actually proof of a kind for God's existence. The leap to faith in God explicitly happens along this fault line of human consciousness blu tly called sinners in the hand of an angry God ( Jonathan Edwards). Third point: your soul talk is a quiet life of desperation as I listen to you. Please do not disturb my slumber while I cling to my own sense of rightness, my self righteousness in other words. Sleeper awake! Let your conscience be your guude. Hidden in the God of judgment is the God of love driving you to confession of having failed the demands of righteousness. We all end up at Calvary. At Golgotha. At the cross of Christ. Like the centurian executioner we will proclaim "trully this one os the son of God!"
Roadkill makes me think about this a lot. Where is that poor animal going? Then I think we're animals, so where are we going. The roadkill can't imagine life after death but we do. It's an idea. Made up. No one knows. Neither does this priest. He doesn't know, but he has a good imagination.
@@tommyrregina1227 Thank you. Every day is filled with grace. Indeed, if I were to write my autobiography, it would be one page, with one word - "grace."
@@tjseaney_ oh pretty easy. Eg, if you ask a Protestant how many books in the KJV theyll say 66, whereas it actually has 73. If you ask a Roman Catholic how many Paulian Epistles there are they say 13: whereas Syriac orthodox include Hebrews and say 14. The Ethiopian Orthodox include Enoch in their cannon so have 81 books Now this is just issues about something as basic as number as books. This is not including text deleted, changed or added. Eg, the First stone tale is not in earlier codixes of John. My favourite is Genius 18 22 which Hebrew scholars reversed in 10th century CE to try and synchronise the adjoining text and make it sound more revered to YEHEW. However, the original expression is kind of important - Abraham tells God what do. We continue to change the texts ... There are texts with non-gender pronouns, others that soften the support for slavery, and changing texts so that it seems foretellings were foretold when they weren't. Assertion that Jesus was crucified when then original Greek texts is ambivalent on this point The Bible is wonder and can suit the ideology of just about anyone. And it wasn't Jesus who said not to change anything but the author of Revelations ... So fortunate that few Christians actually read their own sacred text
Uh, bro, whenever you quote Jesus, are you sure it is Jesus really talking or i it one of the gospel writes who put words in his mouth who may have different.theology? Further,Bishop Barton, you are quoting from the bibical characters in the bible about their beiefs in life after death but you didnt put forward your own belief of what happens
Cont.....after happens except to suggest that in death we assume the same bodily resurrection of Christ who could eat fish after his resurrection. Sorry sir,but Imight have a better idea: That, at death, we become conscious thinking spirits but retain the image of our material body as a point of identification with other other deceased persons. Further, that in the afterlife, there are different levels of spiritual existence starting at the bottom with recently dead trying to get acquanted and accustomed to their new spiritual existence and still experiencing real bodily sensations and emotions and memories associated with their physical bodies. This is the orientation type spiritual level. As we begin to accept our new spiritual existence, the physical emotional baggage we carried with us begin to fade away and we rise to another level of getting more interested and acquainted with our new spiritual surroundings,....all the time feeling the love of God and greater sense of peace. As we continue to ascend to higher spiritual levels, we start feeling greater peace, and joy, and love of God. And so on. In one of these levels, we may decide to go back with the living to learn or experience a virtue of forgiveness, sacrifice orbetter control of a certain vice that weighs on our soul.
Funny that in all the so called "evidence" that Jesus walked around after he died there is little about his body "ascended" up in the sky. It is claimed that he now sits alongside his father who is actually himself outside the universe. This stretches the Jesus myth a tad too far. Voyager 1& 2 have been travelling for 46 years and are now 15 billion miles but no sign of your heaven
The first Russian cidmonauts argued the same pridefilled way of secular humanism via the way of atheistic dialectic materialism. ( communism) Where is He? God is not a comic book super hero or antihero. Out of the immaterial comes the material. The Spirit braided or breathed over the waters if materiality. Genesis 1:1 breaks into ancient cosmic book stories, mythologies, as well back then as now.
And the Gospel of Mark misses the zombie things. Why Luke has Lazarus as a character in a parable who rose from dead. With John having Lazarus as the disciple 'whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.John 21 21 The evidence of post corporeal existence is a tad slim. But who cares; it is not as if anyone will be disappointed.
The priest explains nothing about life after death; neither how it comes about nor why we should suppose that it does. Much less does he explain what happens in the interval between the loss & regaining of one's (young? old? rotten?) body. He merely states what the Jewish & Christian literary traditions say about it, & attempts to pluck at out heartstrings with talk of hope. Resurrection remains highly improbable.
Where does the bishop get his info?..from people in antiqity .Lucky for him he gets his medical advice from properly qualified professionals..lets hope so anyway.
I like the bishop, but I find this particular argument rather weak. I posit that most Catholics and Christians in general do not accept this "hope in the [bodily] resurrection." I for one, do not.
It’s right there in the Nicene Creed, which every Catholic professes every week at Sunday Mass: “I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.” Most mainline Protestant churches profess the Nicene Creed as well. If you don’t accept this doctrine, you’re part of some fringe heterodox sect.
Jesus is the presence of Catholic Church on earth and not some guy with a bible; just another “vacuum cleaner salesman” trying to tell everyone their theology sucks better than any other. Wake up! We are not in the 1500’s anymore, Calvin.
Wish my pleasant post was accepted by RU-vid but it was not. I hate RU-vid! One can no longer have meaningful discussions, but only “teased” to provoke a response, often never heard by anyone, but only to go into the ether.
@@kelkabot jesus had authority from his heavenly father. Peter authority comes from same source. Only God has the final authority. Jesus is the highest priest who opened the temple veil for us all.
@@tommyrregina1227 True. But Ben Shapiro has rejected Jesus at this point. He was told he was going to heaven anyway. He does not meet invincible ignorance. Just disagreeing makes you either a cafeteria Catholic or someone creating your own god and faith system. His very thinking leads to spiritual but not religious and is not Balthasar’s dare we hope or the Lord saying the Father wishes for none to be lost but for all to come to REPENTANCE and belief in Jesus.
THE GIFT OF FREE WILL. GOD WILL NOT FORCE ANYONE TO FOLLOW HIM & LOVE HIM. WHOEVER ENDS IN HELL DOES SO OF THEIR OWN CHOOSING. WE ALSO PRAY FOR EVERY SOUL TO COME TO THE LORD & BE SAVED. @@tommyrregina1227 Right. But you tell the truth so they make an informed choice. We have modern day martyrs in China, the Middle East and Africa who accept Jesus knowing it’s not a Ben Shapiro American’s family getting disappointed in him or mad at him. Jesus said believe in Him and be saved. He said unless you are born again you do not enter the kingdom of heaven. He said go preach this good news. He didn’t say go tell people I am a better way but hey yours is just as good to go to get to heaven. We deny our martyrs, and the saints and Church history ,
… No one can prove anything to a closed mind. It’s your choice to believe. No one owes you proof. God has offered himself to us to join with him. .. each has his own journey of faith. But, he wants us to seek him.… pick up the Bible, or find a church or faith community, and seek him
I seek God every day. I was raised Catholic until I reach the age of reason . I realized my faith was based on fear , not logic. God created us with a brain . I decided to use it and not rely on ritual and superstition. You’re right, we all have our own path. I try not to judge, I just try and give a different view of looking at these things. Peace.
it’s historical fact that Jesus walked this earth and even his enemies wrote about him. If it was a lie his apostles would not have lauded their lives for his cause. Christianity flourishes and continues to flourish. It’s responsible for the western world, responsible for the liberation of slaves, the first colleges, public hospitals, hospice, and orphanages. In Soviet Russia it was supposed to be totally destroyed and it’s still growing strong. It sounds corny but until you have a “click” moment you won’t understand and quite frankly if you aren’t open to it no matter how much facts we show you it won’t change anything. At the end of the day, wether it’s true or not we have a better world for actually following it. What do you lose by believing? If you’re wrong you live a Great life, it’s true God has something extraordinary gift for us after this life. I pray you find a place in your heart to truly investigate it.
Ah yes..bishop barron wants to live forever..so he has invented the fountain of youth with all the other praying class members. I would be on board but the evidence is zero except claims from antiquity..could you trust these guys with your daughter ? maybe, but accurate facts..that is too big an ask.
Jesus said "because you have seen me, you believe; blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed." Its called FAITH. RU-vid has lots of videos on near death experience, from people of many different walks of life, including Doctors. I suggest looking up Dr Mary Neal , and Doctor Eban Alexander, both doctors who died and went to heaven but came back, they tell of what they experienced, Dr Alexander was not a believer until he experienced it . Jesus loves all of us, he died for your sins and mine too, he wants to have a relationship with you. God bless you ❤
