All people who sincerely seek truth will be saved, and the definition of faith is the assent of our mind will and intellect to the revealed will and Truth of God made visible in Jesus the Christ that all will be saved
Through no fault of their own an atheist can be saved through Baptism of Desire. Unrepentant Mortal sin is what keeps people from heaven. They don't want God, so they condemn themselves.
How is an atheistic person supposed to know about Baptism of desire? Do atheists live holy lives or do they live according to their own will? Living by your own will will not get anyone into heaven.
@StJohn6islifeeternal Baptism of Desire is simply a way the Church labels an unbaptised/unbelieving soul to the Mercy of God. It is not an excuse to leave people to their good but uninformed conscience. Christ is the ultimate judge. We will be judged according to our faith and works. Christ's 1st coming was to reconcile us to the Mercy of God. Christ's 2nd coming will be as Divine Judge. Gods Divine Justice is not removed from His Divine Mercy.
