John 3-36 doesn't say ' obey ' . In the KJV it reads, " He who believes in the Son has everlasting life and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life". Not sure why this wasn't pointed out. This is why we need to avoid modern translations, they switched believe for obey.

To believe is obedience, while to not believe is disobedience.

This is why i actively defend the AV Bible (KJV) it is the pure word of God for English speaking people. Modern bibles come from a corrupted text and not the preserved text that God promise that he would preserved throughout all generations.

Salvation is a free gift we accept the Holy Spirit into our life and he works through us as Paul says 1 Corinthians 15:10 (KJV) But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

I wish it was 'a lot of protestants' believing free grace. Most Christians, radical and nominal, consider works to be either a necessary means or a necessary sign.

Catholics should read the Bible and find the part where Jesus said, "Believe in my mom in order to be saved." Oh, that never happened? So it's pretty easy to dismiss anything else they want to say about the Bible. Jesus said we must believe in Him to be saved and that's all any of us ever had to do! Catholics and "lordship salvationists" should also read Matthew 7 and see what it actually says - the people who did all the religious works are the ones who heard "Depart from me, for I never knew ye." I'm always amazed at this false doctrine of works plus faith being necessary for salvation. I have asked many religious people, Catholics Jehovahs witnesses etc.. to tell me what is the standard of obedience and works that must accompany my faith in order to obtain salvation? If you are trying to sell me this gospel you must believe that you have reached a level of obedience or you are not saved either. So in this false gospel one has to make them self the standard. As you can understand I have not yet heard a reply from anyone in the works plus faith category! This proves to me that they have misunderstood Scripture.

He used the word accent more than once, it is not mental accent, it is believing in our heart. It is with the heart man believes unto righteousness, not mental accent. Catholics believe in the seven sacraments as a part of their salvation, as well as in the Council of Trent, you must belong to their church. I came out of that church, and it is based on works and they don't believe grace is unmerited, they teach you can earn more grace than you need for salvation, and it is then used for others, when he says obey, he is referring to works. If you are better than you are bad, but still have committed bad enough sins, you go to purgatory where you must be prayed out by the saints that are here, but what happens to the last person to go there and there are no saints here to pray them out. I'm catholic but I really am leaning toward salvation by faith alone after watching these. I just can't see how anyone could fully follow Christ. We'll always fall short, including us catholics. There's no way you can tell me you don't commit adultery, get drunk, lie, etc. Everyone does those things. But I'm still a new christian so idk 😬

James 2:24 doesn't even say "a man is justified by works". It says "you see that a man is justified by works", NOT "a man is justified by works". Saying, "It is not enough to be in a personal one-on-One relationship with GOD" is a sign of a person who cannot have salvation. It is that simple. STUDY Matt 7:21-21. People that feel the need to "add something to faith" have a lack of understanding of who Jesus is. Jesus IS the word according to John 1, therefore if we obey the Word, we are in obedience to the word (The Son, Jesus). If the blood of Jesus was not enough payment for sin, then nothing could ever be. Hebrews 10:29: "Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?" Works based salvation is an insult to the grace of God...these poor people don't understand the weight of what they are saying.

People do not understand what catholics call faith alone What do I mean? We are saved by grace through faith ( for good works ) How does that work ? We are saved by grace through faith We are then filled with rhe holy spirit. The holy spirit renews our mind so our heart wants to please god .We do our good works out of love for God in response to his love and grace on the cross !!! The verse is using the word apeithos. Peithos is applying persuasion. Apeithos is disobedience. John 3:36 John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. -Apeithos. ‭Hebrews 11:8 KJV‬ [8] By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. He went out. The actions were produced by his trust in God. This is faith. As you've quoted from Scripture, this is the work of God (John 6:29). Ephesians 2:10 says we are His workmanship, created for good works. God justifies the sinner, He also sanctifies them (Jude 1:24-25, 1 Thess 5:23)

I have never worked more hard for my salvation than trying to believe OSAS. So I decided to follow Jesus and my soul rests in Him. I take Sabbath off in honoring Him as Creator, instead of doing my own pleasure on His holy day. I call it a delight. Instead of not resting on it according to the commandment. Which would be working. Not resting.

The entire POINT was God BEING our SUBSTITUTE. He lived the sinless life WE COULD NOT! That is why we must ONLY believe the gospel. No works! Christ's righteousness is imputed onto believers so that WE CAN BE perfect, sinless in God's sight. Jesus paid for ALL our sins on the cross and that is salvation for all that believe in Him.

You say “The Gospel is obeyed when the Gospel is believed”. Ok. So we could also say. “The Gospel is believed when the Gospel is obeyed”. So obedience is the same as belief or at minimum they are similar since you used air quotes for “obey” at one point. Maybe because you are reluctant to give a clear definition of obey and that’s fine. The Catholic guy said that in John 3:36 Jesus uses disobedience and belief as antonyms which would make belief and obedience synonyms, which is the exact same parallel you make in the statement above. He takes it a step further and says if you have faith you will also obey. If you believe and obey for salvation according to you then why is it such a stretch to have faith and obey for salvation according to this Catholic guy?
