This verse is pointing to the exact doctrine he's teaching. "Trust in your own righteousnes." Christ is enough, we can never clean up enough to be accepted before a thrice Holy God. Christ did all the work, we trust in Him alone. Our own works or obedience are as filthy rags... Do not be deceived by this doctrine... Keep preaching the Gospel brother.

The entire point of James chapter 2 is that you must have faith in Christ and you must keep the laws of God. You can’t do one and then do the other because that is being partial in Christ. You can’t have faith but then not keep God’s laws. That’s why James points out that even devils know that there’s one true living God. However, you know what a devil will not do? He won’t love his neighbor as he loves himself (1John3:10). And loving your neighbor as you love yourself is just a short concise sentence which means keeping every single law according to Romans 13:9. Even Christ is going to deny you entry if you’re not keeping God‘s law according to Matthew 7:23. It has to be both and not being partial or just having faith because not everybody that says onto him Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom.
@@OnoDiamante No I am not wrestling with it. It’s very understandable. The will of the father is the law Psalms 40:8 (KJV) I delight to do *thy will,* O my God: yea, *thy law* [is] within my heart. And that is in no way diminishing from Christ because believing on Christ is part of the law in Deuteronomy 18:18. These people cry Lord Lord but are not doing God’s law. Hence why Christ tells them depart for me ye that commit iniquity. Iniquity is sin and what is sin? 1 John 3:4 (KJV) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: *for sin is the transgression of the law.* So in the end days Christ is going to tell you (general “believers”) to depart from him because you chose to transgress the law instead of doing the will of the father which is the law. Which demonstrates what? That they are being partial in Christ… Saying they are having faith in Christ but not doing as Christ told them to do which is loving your neighbor as you love yourself which again is a concise phrase for the entirety of the commandments according to Romans 13:9. Because if you love your neighbor you won’t steal from them, you won’t kill them, you won’t commit adultery with their wife, you will rise up when the hoary head enters the room, You’ll pay your poor neighbor the same day he works for you before the sun goes down, you won’t go into his house to retrieve your pledge, you won’t lend upon usury to him, etc This is why John says blessed are they that keep the commandments they will have right to the tree of life and may enter into the city. Because if you say you have faith in Christ then do what Christ told you to do which is love your neighbor as you love yourself. For the same God that said don’t commit adultery also said don’t kill. If you don’t commit adultery but yet you kill your brother you are demonstrating hatred towards your brother therefore you are being partial in Christ and you have broken the entirety of the royal law. You believe? That’s wonderful, so do devils. But devils do not love their neighbor as they love themselves (1John 3:8-10). So faith alone and saying Lord Lord will not get you in the kingdom of Heaven but rather both having faith and the keeping of God’s laws which is the will of God A.k.a. Faith with works. Those who hear and obey the voice of God are the one that can't be plucked out of his hand. That's not for you that have this mythical fabled faith that just say you have faith and nothing to show for the faith you claim you have. And when did the Lord and the Apostles preach concepts. The only place I see that kind of teaching is in the Garden. God told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. For in that day that you eat thereof, "thou shalt surely die" Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof THOU SHALT SURELY DIE. But look at who came with their concept of what GOD said. Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV) And the SERPENT said unto the woman, YE SHALL NOT SURELY DIE: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. So leave the concepts alone and stick to what's written and taught by the Lord and the Apostles, instead of men's carnal interpretation and understanding of what they imagine the Word of God is saying.
So what Sam is saying is that a Christian must obey “the law” in order to be saved. This is heresy. The gospel is that God demands perfection, man is incapable of perfection, Jesus lived perfectly and imputed that status of perfection to us by faith.

We seem to be either talking past each other or talking to ourselves in circles, not realizing its the same circle. Either way, to sum the orthodox position on grace is that YES it is free from God but we also have the Free Will to receive. As it is written, 1 Cor 6 " The wicked will not inherit the Kingdom". And the Ltr of James "even the demons believe and shudder" There is then a false dichotomy bet true faith and obedience but rather a deficiency in mere faith that simply means mental assertion. Simply put: ours is a Living God hence ours is a Living Faith.

Since he thief really didn't have any chance of anything since he was hanging there to his death, Yeshua still in HIS mercy gave him salvation. The thing is It is still Elohims desire that none should perish but be saved, and HE will literally give each person up to their last breathe to believe in Yeshua. That is the Love of our ABBA ❤
I've heard it said that the reason atheists mock Christianity in particular is because Christianity is by far the most prominent and influential worldview aside from secularism, especially in the Western world. If it was Islam or Hinduism or whatever else, they'd challenge those worldviews instead.

People argue that the word reward is singular add not plural and therefore there is no actual reward system but that Christ is our only reward and that is their argument
Sam is not rightly dividing the word of God. Israel is saved by faith + works. Jesus came for Israel. They rejected Him, and after that Jesus gave a new gospel to the apostle Paul, which is saved by faith alone. This is a very common mistake that confuses many. When you understand this, all these apparent discrepancies can be understood.

Another take on this verse is that the preferred reading among scholars (which can be seen in virtually all modern translations of this verse) is πλύνοντες τὰς στολὰς αὐτῶν ("washing their robes") rather than ποιοῦντες τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτου ("doing His commandments"). So the use of the latter reading seems to be a KJV-related problem.

Salvation by faith alone is hinted throughout the whole old testament (or at least God saving us, non dependant on us) and hammered thoroughly in the New testament. Why do people think that one verse that can be easily misunderstood or other small things like such disprove the rest of the Bible?
Sam doesn’t understand dispensationalism, I agree with Sam on a lot of things, but eternal security is something I believe he doesn’t understand. Apostle Paul states in Eph 1 that a believer in Christ Jesus is (sealed) with the Holy Spirit of God until the day of the redemption.. so in other words apostle Paul is wrong and Sam is communicating that a Christian at some point in time in their walk/ life can be so deep in sin that the Holy Spirit can leave and they can be unsaved and Lost! I believe he is absolutely WRONG on this one.. BTW Mathew 13 is referring to the Jews in the tribulation period NOT the {Church age born again Believer} It is a different dispensation explaining a different type of salvation that they will have to endure in the time of their trouble.

Believing that our works can somehow contribute to our salvation is blasphemy! Can you imagine as the Father looks down at Jesus as His body was hanging from the cross...sinners coming up with individual sacrifices trying to pile them up at the cross to signify...surely Jesus' sacrifice wasn't enough? God forbid! Who do these people think they are believing they can add to the finished work of Christ for their salvation?!!!!
