Suggest reading: The Church and the Libertarian: A Defense of the Catholic Church's Teaching on Man, Economy, and State: "One of the principal reasons the ‘pure or unhampered’ market has never existed (except in the imagination of Austrians) is that capitalist entrepreneurs themselves have militated against its existence from the very inception of the capitalist era by obtaining special favors, protection and exemptions from the post-Catholic and then post-Christian nation states that replaced the decentralized structures of political authority in Christendom.”
This is incorrect. Economics is about the just distribution of the means for the fulfilment of human material needs. It isn't primarily about profit. Those who would make it about profit would be serving money not God.
Please listen again. The free market recognizes that pursuit of profit is what results in the best distribution of the means for the fulfilment of human material needs.
The totally unrestricted free market leads to great misery. Pope Leo Xlll recognised this and criticised Laissez faire capitalism. Libertarian Capitalism is as anti Catholic as is Communism. Many Libertarians are ex Anarchists. Indeed I had a Candidate for the British Liberal party only last week visit my house and boasted how he was a "soft" anarchist. There are of course many Liberals who are not Anarchists but these are devotees of George Soros who wishes to destroy democracy as can be seen by his pro abortion activities in the Republic of Ireland.
@@ingridlinbohm7682 How do you know? Can you give an example of a totally unrestricted free market which has done so? To my knowledge one has never existed. Therefore, it's tough to establish even correlation, let alone causation like you've claimed to do.
