I love how Peterson turned 1 question into a 30 minute lecture. And in that 30 minutes he teaches so much

I love the saying "A lie unchallenged becomes the truth."

The pain of not saying what you think, vastly outweighs the pain of saying something uncomfortable. So you may as well speak the truth and bear the consequence, than submit to a retreat of your own mind.

For me all of this began during the pandemic, I was 17-18-19 at the time when everyone seemed to have to much time. Suddenly everywhere I saw all that woke stuff on the internet „don’t say that, don’t think that, don’t be that“ and so on. One think that really depressed me, becoming an adult as a male, was all that „toxic masculinity“ talking that started to appear. I learned that masculinity wasn’t something that was wanted/needed in the world. It was said everywhere that masculinity is bad, it causes wars, it is disstructiv, women don’t want and need it anymore and so on. I heard it so often that I started to believe it, I started to believe that masculinity is toxic and evil. Being a male myself, all of this depressed me deeply because I felt like there was no purpose in this world for me. A year ago, when I finished school, I started working out, working on myself and my mental health. I discovered Jordan Peterson and I learned so much I needed to hear. Thank you so much Mr. Peterson, please never stop doing what you are doing, there are so many young men suffering like I did.🙏🏻

There's another important point JP didn't mention: When you stand out from the crowd and stand fast against the tyrannical mob and say no, more often than not you'll find others joining you and supporting your position. They just needed to see one person light that first spark.

Dr Peterson I hope you see this. I lost my left arm do to drug use among other things and became severely depressed because of it. However I simply started to clean my room and although it was difficult I realized that I could accomplish more than I ever thought. Seeing how everything is twice as difficult with one hand. From there my spirits lifted and I even got off of drugs. You are correct when you say that the challenges in life are where you find meaning. So I hope that next time someone says that your comments are banal I hope you let them know that your banal comments have saved more people's souls and lives than there petty little insults. My husband and I recently went to a childbirth class and the teacher asked us to write our pronouns on our name tags. This was a class supplied by the Canadian government. We didn't put our pronouns on, and the teacher came and asked us our pronouns in front of the whole class. My husband just said "use your best judgemental" and the teacher gave us a snooty expression and moved on with the class. That was our contribution to anti wokeness.

I was there. I once unemployed for nine months when I had a mortgage and a car payment and I learned how others had power over me. But I got a job which I quickly hated. But I worked hard and did what was right for the business, and I was promoted. So ten years later, I had no debt, and I had money saved and invested, and now I have the power of knowing that I can walk away when I choose and knowing that they can't have power over. That is liberating.

This is what I've been looking for. My pastor hasn't given a practical response, books don't give a practical response, friends don't give a practical response. But THIS is the answer. Mr. Peterson, I want to thank you for putting this out there. Now I need to gather together my courage and apply what you said. Thank you for being an example for me.

Never apologize to them. It’s like putting blood in the water for sharks. If they are going to try and take you down for standing on truth, might as well go down being on offense. This discussion hit home for me. In the 1970s I saw the leftists taking over a small liberal arts college where I got my first degree. My history teacher was a frank and open socialist for example. The sociology and Christian thought programs were changing dramatically. I felt they were beyond redemption. Later I worked for the federal government (HHS). I saw that incremental encroachment of the left in government. First there was a big change when Bill and Hillary Clinton took over in the White House. C. Evert Koop had been the Surgeon General, a great man with a big heart. His outlook was replaced with minority and leftist leaning leadership. But...there was a lot of entrenched folks with traditional values and the new crew didn't get everything they wanted. It took 5-10 years to root them out. The phrase "micro-retreats" fits well. I could see it. And I ended up 12 years into a career and doing what Gorden suggested. We made exit plans and got our resumes up to date. I cried sometimes when my friends on the medical staffs were abused and gotten rid of. I saw less and less support from area managers. One of them died of a heat attack shortly after he was fired by a administration who set him up to make it appear he was rebellious. I was falsely accused of abusing children which was total fabrication. And I got no support from area management. And I was rebuked for complaining about a drunk minority physician seeing (ER) patients with slurred speech and reeking of alcohol. She had been a medical student of a liberal minority appointment to a high position in Washington D.C. and had a phone connection she used on a regular basis. Her overly liberal narcotics prescribing practices resulted in a number of deaths. The quality of health care in our clinic tanked. One pivotal point was when I found out she was making large personal loans to poor people in the area we were serving and forgiving the loans if they filed fabricated complaints against staff. Half of the medical staff and half of the pharmacy staff resigned on the same day at the same time. The best half of employees I might add. I remember going to a physician in a neighboring town and told him what I was going through and he kind of smiled and said that he was treating about 1/3 of the staff members I was working with for depression. He wanted to treat me for anxiety and depression. He said he could get me through 8 more years until retirement with medication. But remembered meeting a physician in the hallway shortly before that. I asked her how it was going. She just said "Nine more years, four months, three weeks and...she looked at her watch....four hours until retirement." I would not do that. It was not worth it. So I said nope, no psych meds, I knew how to cure the problem. I had enough. It was time to go. I submitted my resignation along with the many others. I still remember the date after 15 years. We made front page news with a regional newspaper. I stepped into a temporary professional job part time while I incubated a small business idea I had been pondering for decades. It was completely outside of medicine. And I never regretted that decision. I didn't let the golden handcuffs of a lucrative government job trap me. And I am proud of myself for not letting that happen. When a system reaches a certain critical point, it cannot be saved.

I'm a Project Manager and was just written up by HR for not quite sure what - based on the fact that I verbally chastised a jr. interior designer for modifying CAD files without notifying the project manager, me. They're worried of losing the jr. interior designer. So I quit. Saved the jr interior designer but lost a project manager with over 20 years experience. Let the little girl do my job.

Ive lost some friends because I realized around 3 years ago that the reason it got as bad as it did is because people like me never pushed back for the last 20 years. I used to quietly accept their condemnation of "white cis males" but the summer of love is what you get when you tacitly accept the BS.

I imagine that being "cancelled" is akin to being neglected as a child. As a victim of childhood neglect and emotional abuse, I can tell you that it is absolutely terrifying. There are a couple of sci-fi movies that bring up those painful memories where an astronaut is outside the ship and his/her tether breaks loose - you're out there in the dark, alone, cut off from all humanity, drifting away, unable to scream because they won't hear you - you're alone and helpless and the panic consumes you -

I've stood up to Woke ideology to the tune of, no less than 10 + friendships, 4 of them life long friendships. I don't regret one single loss.

It's taken me until this day to be more afraid of personal consequences that will occur if I do not do the thing I need to do than the fear of the consequences of moving forward and doing the thing! How I wish I had done it 20 years ago. How common is that regret? One I never thought I would have.

As a social worker I tried to talk to my supervisor about mandatory training in woke ideology and was simply told let’s change the subject.

A totally logical sentence, as well as situation, unfortunately majority of us does not think that far/complex, than try to negotiate and fail, which leads to certain disappointment and retrieval and ultimately loosing at least a part of self-confidence.

Excellent discussion! I was quite bitter with my work, specifically regarding my coordinator and had begun looking at my exit strategy. I had initially estimated that it may take me about 2 years to build another source of income... but when my coordinator had started the same described process to get rid of me, I worked my exit strategy with a level of enthusiasm and zeal that I never had before. One of the best moment I had was submitting my resignation form where the "Retire" box was ticked and this form had also required my supervisor's signature. It was a great moment. I remember reading this line from a few decades ago (but cannot remember where it was from) and it is so true: "Success is one of the best revenge.".

The observation of small incremental demands becoming an actually large encroachment of individual rights is brilliant.

What's really wonderful about Dr. Peterson's approach with helping his clients with their challenges is breaking down those challenges by couching every step of the way as a choice. "Yes it's hard to do/not do X, but it is harder than doing/not doing Y?" That empowers the person - gives them a reasonable choice that they can either handle, or know they can't handle right now but can get helped with.

We have lived in Oklahoma now for 30 years and the amount of administrators in this state has always been ridiculous. If you don't stand up for your values...their values will destroy you with no remorse.

I was 55 when I retired early from my position. I was not going to capitulate to the insane woke. Now 3 years on I am convinced I made the right decision.I am satisfied and happier than ever before. Others I stayed in touch with who have conceded to the woke ideology are miserable. J.Peterson is absolutely correct. The consequences of going along with the woke insanity is far worse. my parents and I went thru tyranny in Cuba and it was hell on earth every day . my father was stripped of his job as a chemist and sent to a work camp in the countryside for 5 years because he did not agree with the communists ..I can go on for days trying to tell you our story .

Having my own business and no longer being an employee and not having to go through woke seminars has been a blessing. If you are at a woke company just quit. If can’t quit slowly work on your own business on the side until you have 50% of the salary you had before and jump ship. There are a lot of businesses you can start if you save some money and put some effort into it. You will control your time, not have to go to woke seminars, and your quality of life will go up by a lot. 100% worth it. I make 1/3 of what I use to make I just spend less, eat at home, smart drive making sure no wasted trips to stores etc to save gas, and now actually have time for friends and family. Money is not happiness. Having time to do what you want when you want and not have some some idiot boss breathing down your neck is happiness.

Churchill said this about the threat of a dictatorship, yet many of us are living on our knees, threatened by a left-wing liberal minority that if we don't follow their beliefs we will be cancelled. The real victim is the truth. Jordan is right in comparing it to the 1894 situation of East Germany and Russia. I was recently cautioned for a talk I was doing about entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors who were Dyslexic - because I didn't include an equal number of women and they said it would offend women. HR had demanded to see my talk to do a woke check. WokeTF? I said "no problem" and thanked the moron for pointing it out. I didn't change a thing and no one complained because most of us live in the real world not the woke world. Wokers have this blind belief they know what offends others, yet they offend most of us.

When Peterson says he's uncomfortable being referred to as brave, I understand him more than anyone I've ever understood, because I was adamant that I would not be 'bullied' going through the care system in Wales in the 70's, not because I was brave, but because I could not bare to stomach the injustice.

You are describing me sir. I have realized my situation a few months ago and now I am in the change pattern. I left my teaching job of 20 years. It's scary but its better than continuing that situation feeling, as you say, bitter and small. My job also started as one situation then morphed into something that was unjustifiable. I often compare my situation to that of a German government worker in the 1930's. You see the darkness approaching, forced to participate, at a certain point you say, how will history judge me when, god willing, the light arises again. I chose to not perpetuate that darkness.

Well I almost turned into a homicidal maniac as a result of not speaking out against injustice and madness. Speak your piece, no matter how uncomfortable. You have a right to have your thoughts heard.

As Coach Corey Wayne said, " The best negotiating position to be in is being able to walk away and mean it!" This way one doesn't have to put up with a crappy work situation.

I've been to therapy and know people who went to the psychiatrist for minor and major problems. I've never experienced or heard of someone so devoted to their patient's wellbeing to actively coach them step by step. In fact there's often little progress if any at all, and tons of money spent. Dr. Peterson is not just a clinical psychologist. He's a model for all health professionals of how to CARE for patients in all senses of the word, proof that you can be fully involved and still never overstep your role, proof that with quality care (that comes from deep respect for people and constant studying and thinking) people CAN get better. I still remember when he said he accompanied a patient to see a corpse being examined (I don't remember the type of procedure) just so she could face her fear. No one does that! No one cares that much. No one has that will to investigate the patients problems trying to understand more. But he cares. He brothers to do it. He doesn't just perform a service, he gets to the core of things and seeks the truth. That's a true health professional and scientist to me, and in a world where most only think of money and their own stability... This blows me away.

I love that Jordan thinks well ahead before he speaks, he takes his time and there's not much he says that isnt already thought out in advance.

You and others have not given me an operational definition for studying WOKE using anthropological methodologies (My Doctorate) .

Your answer for schools is spot on! When I left the public school as a level III teacher assistant due to disability this hiring of more administrators was happening. We were fighting for pay increase and were denied, then all of a sudden we had 3 administrator positions get filled. I saw the woke ideology coming and will not comprise my values/beliefs. I’m 80 years old. I was born and raised in Hollywood, California. I attended Hollywood High School and U.S.C. and worked in the movie business during the 60s and 70s as an assistant director, production manager and screen writer. When the “Me-Too” movement broke on the scene, and stories of thousands of rapes started pouring out of Hollywood, I was absolutely blown away. I don’t remember a single rape story coming from anyone during my entire time in Hollywood. When I point this out to the woke freaks, they tell me everyone was hiding it from me. Really? Are you kidding? It’s impossible for me to believe that I could have been kept perpetually in the dark in a place filled with friends and colleagues. It’s a ridiculous assertion. I think we’re being hit with a kind of mass madness.

Also nice how he is able to point out what psychological horrors canceled people go through, I wonder if he could relate to an INDIVIDUAL in a MOB that calls for change to the better in order to lessen its own psychological horrors. I wonder about what caused this too, probably a lot of small thing that hurt everybody if changed....if you add them up...first of all: they start to hurt so much, 2nd: it might change to the better....hyperdeveloped in the (good old) germanic way

In just a shade under 30 minutes I think I've just been thoroughly schooled. I thought I'd stop watching this after a few minutes, yet I stayed transfixed.

My sixty five year old uncle retired last year from about forty of teaching. He is very young at heart and fit for his age so never came across as 'old' in his profession. He told me was more than glad to go, as the twisted ideological directives were getting the better of him. He's the last of his kind I would say.

I laugh at them, I document everything, I have my phone on “record” during all conversations in such locations.

My first job out of college was a nightmare. I spent eight years there before finally resigning, but the effect it had on me has been lasting. It changed who I was. And I am not talking about woke ideologies. More along the lines of not suffering fools and thinking you're the smartest person in the room. So, when in anyone asks, I warn them. Don't let your job change you. I wish somebody had told me the same thing when I was young. I can't imagine what would've happened to me if I was graduating from college today.

Do NOT depend on anyone else to come to your aid. My husband & I joined a group fighting our local school board, years ago. They were doing some pretty unethical stuff with the finances & trying to close/shuffle school populations to hide it. A rather large group protested & took them to task. As soon as the board got on to us, & started firing back, most of the 'supporters' dissipated. There were 3 of us left - me, my husband, & and the gentleman who spearheaded the whole fight. We fought alone & suffered being ostracized, ridicule, and self doubt. The board did what they wanted, steam rolled us & laid low for 4 years. they then dredged it up again & closed another building. They learned from our tactics. They pounced on the few parents who mounted a resistance immediately & did everything so last minute that there was no time for parents to group. We had tried to warn them 4 years before.. They came to us looking for help & it was denied. I reevaluated my 'resume' as he is saying. I pulled my kids out and homeschooled them. You need to evaluate the negative energy you are devoting to things. It was worth it to me to be ostracized, put all the energy I was expending in fighting them into teaching my kids myself. My kids learned valuable lessons from this.

I have been involved in medical education for almost 40 years. The American Association of Medical Colleges has consistently changed admission criteria that push far left and allow the admission of students who have lower objective admission scores. First, schools could admit these students via Affirmative Action. This was shot down by the Michigan decision which says that if two candidates are equal on objective measures, the school may admit the one who they think better meets their needs (i.e. based on social views). This has now developed into the "holistic interview" which allows schools to admit students based on whatever criteria they wish (always in sync with Woke attitudes). The interesting part about this is that I have had the opportunity to follow these students, Few if those go into primary care specialties where there is the greatest need, and decide to go into high revenue specialties. Lesson learned: applicants to medical school are smart enough to know what hoops to jump through to get into medical school. so the goals to admit liberal students is basically a failure.

I went to uni (not the same schools)when this guy was a student and am ashamed of my intellectual acumen compared to him. I thought I was a smart guy but....size does matter and his IQ/logic/common sense/humanity makes many of my (and the rest/others) pale...glad to pay a lot more strict attention to you Dr. JP. And I WILL say Dr. as you are worthy of that respect. Oh..and my stepson always reminded me to look/listen to what you had(have) to say . He's a smart cat at 34 and thinks the world of your logic/messages to his generation. I know it transcends generations and only wish the damaged, fragiles and wokes had enough focus to listen and reason rather than sit, run or cry.

Thanks for the resumee chat, I got some feedback (sort of) there. I wrote more then 10 blocks of paper, analyzing myself vs. employer. I listened and listened. Finally I got to my rubicon, I told them my truth. A few days later I was superfluous, so they said at least. That´s honesty for you!

I think, to summarize what Jordan said, the answer to "How do I stand up to woke ideologies without being cancelled?" is, You cannot have both of those things. If you're going to stand up to evil, you should imagine the worst consequence you can think of, and act as if that is guaranteed to happen, and prepare for it. That's harsh. But it's less harsh than what will happen to you if you let the evil grow so big that you can do nothing to stop it from destroying you.

When some 🐴🕳️ told me that my cross necklace was offensive to him, I replied back, that I was offended that he was so easily offended, then kept wearing it.

I am not sure whether it's an exaggeration but I really appreciate it when he said it can take 100 hours and 20 pages just to figure out the problem. That's the stage I am at and it's hard not to feel disappointed in myself.

I encounter people lying and they don't know I know both sides of the story. They get upset when I question what they tell me, but I want to be fair to both sides.

I was a teacher in international schools for a long time now, and the woke culture is everywhere in every country. This past year, the students tried to cancel me until I finally quit, afraid the next attempt was going to be sexual assault. So I quit, and I left, and doubt I want to ever return to teaching. I'm lucky because I am still single and have options, but the greater problem is not the woke students, it's the woke teachers that are entering the profession. The main problem is the teachers, themselves, now. It's hard to protect oneself when even your colleagues are woke.

My uncle who escaped Russia in the early 50s was taken to a police station and interrogated for 10 hours . His crime? While standing in a bread line he happened to complain the loaves he was given were stale. While on his way home he was arrested for complaining about the quality of the food given to him by a generous government. He was warned that if he created any more trouble he would be sent to a labour camp . He was sent on his way after a beating and ended up with two black eyes . Whether bread or an opinion the woke mob are the new secret police who will beat you make you lose your job fabricate lies about you destroy your property and reputation. Totalitarianism is the same whether dished out by a government or a mob of brain washed university students . The end result is the stifling of free speech and ideas contrary to the mobs norm. Wokeness creates a climate of fear where people are afraid to express themselves.

This kind of inspiring speech is virtually absent from mainstream society. Imagine living in a country or a society where the leader has the ability to inspire people in such an informed manner and with such clarity. This is the whole point; we are capable of achieving this but it takes a whole lot more than one individual to get there. This is why the descent into hell which Jordan talks about, is so much more likely.

If you're not risking "cancellation," you're not really standing up, or at least not striking a real blow. You're being ignored. If you're going to have an impact, your opponents will become aware of you, and the more effective you are, the more aggressive their response will be. Don't go it alone. Get support ahead of time. Strong alliances will make you more effective, and also provide some insulation from being individually targeted. But in the end, any effective action will elicit a response that is aimed to disrupt your actions and/or your life in some fashion.

The part about his visit to the Museum in Germany made me laugh and shiver at the same time. I live in Germany and spend a considerable amount of time in various government buildings, and it’s exactly as Jordan describes it. Federal Public Institutions are like prisons - enormous, sprawling 1970’s office blocks that are now 90% empty but still routinely maintained and cleaned to the point of being sterile. Room after room of endless filing libraries documenting the history of every measurable event or interaction, all smelling like cleaning products on linoleum floor. This country is famous for its enormous, bloated bureaucracy, but people don’t often realize that it’s the product of a terrible, terrible system - one of the most inhumane and destructive in human history.

I was pretty sure I was going to get a job as an editor in the psychology dept. The reason I was so confident was that the current editor knew me very well and said I would probably do a better job than she was doing ;I was expert in all the necessary skills. I did not get the job .It turns out they had already chosen someone who knew how to write Grant proposals. They were trying to bring in more money. My point in saying all this is: You won't always know WHY you don''t get a job Do not assume it's a comment on your abilities or desirability for that sort of job.They may be afraid of your skill level. You may be the wrong gender. You may be perfect but they were actually looking for something other than the job as posted. Get some help in choosing the job Title you ought to be looking for, also.!

You can always support those who are taking action for your cause even if you yourself are too afraid to take any action to defend yourself. The good guys need support.

I have been fighting the woke mob since 1990 when my older sister kept spreading lies about me because I was trying to get her kids off coke. She'd rather cancel me than get her kids healthy.

This is gold! Years go I got (comparatively lighty) cancelled at an inconvenient time in my life in my workplace for basically (non-woke) authoritarian/policy reasons. They couldn't even find one reason to fire me, having simply stood up against dangerous and unethical practice. So the group of people in charge started to basically bully or slander me. My colleagues thankfully stopped doing those thousands of micro-retreats. My hospital department was being run into the ground in a nose-dive, patients' lives were seriously endangered, me and a handfull of my colleagues fought back, yet to no avail, so having to leave wasn't a bad outcome, even though it hurt. To this day, my old workplace is in shambles. Cancelling me was a stupid decision that backfired and cost them even more employees and reputation in the long run. I think Iwas pushed off the sinking ship in time. Thankfully I work in a field with severe personnell shortage, as I was referred to a place with much more liberty within days. It nevertheless took me a good year to process that experience. My point is: what he says here about facing a mob that bullies you is 100% true. Preparation is key, if you've got the time. “Never apologize for something you haven’t done or take a knee to the mob. They always come back for more”. Fight back but with Sun Tzu.

A person who is intelligent, experienced and courageous is a helluva force to be reckoned with. Ty Dr. Peterson.
