I picked up a few 4x5 boxes of this recently released black and white film and thought I'd run it through the gauntlet. I've been on the hunt for an affordable film that I can use for gelatin silver and Alt. printing, such as Carbon Transfer, Kallitype, Cyanotype, etc... In this first part of the series, I will determine what film speed works for me as well as development times for a range of subject brightness ranges. #catlabs80 #4x5catlabs80 #largeformatphotography

You might can get the anti-halation layer off by rubbing the back with you fingers in the stop bath (or in a water bath after stop), I've found it dissolves by far the easiest in a pre-soak (easy with SP-445 tank) but once you've gone thru the fixer it's the hardest to remove. Just talking film in general, not specifically CatLAB.

It's off as soon as the negative is in the rinse after fixing. I'm pre-washing this film now so no worries. I only have this issue with this film and Rollie IR. All the Ilford films I use do not require a pre-wash. Cheers!

Excellent. Did you get any good exposures with the red filter?

I did! 🙂 I included the shot taken with the red filter at the end. I was quite happy to its response. I plan on testing this film's response to different coloured filters in a future video.
