not a cat specifically but the scene in Asphalt Jungle where the cat-loving bartender kicks out the guy who admits to running them over with his cab!

If neo-noir can be counted, The Long Goodbye (1973) features what may be the greatest feline performance of all time.

Hangover Square (1945) has a Siamese cat in several scenes. I haven't decided if Hangover Square is actually film noir, but it is almost always described as such. That would be a good question for Eddie in his "Noir or Not" series. Either way, its a good movie with a good plot and cast, including the cat.

I love this! Now I really want to know more about all the animals I'm classic films, and specifically noir. While much more of a rom/com I've always loved Pyewacket the cat in Bell, Book, and Candle. So much so that my own cat's name is Pyewacket!

I wish we could get a proper Red Harvest adaptation, though if that one had happened we likely never would have gotten all of the unofficial ones. Also, I'm not sure about Ladd as the Continental Op. Someone like Lee J Cobb would have been more fitting at the time, with Raymond Burr and Rod Steiger also being great choices as the years went on.
