This is original, i mean of all the cat videos that talk about their behavior, this is the first one I've come across that says they see people as bad hunters LoL but yeah already know they think we are incompetent and weak and all the other things they look down on us for 😂
Oh Lord, that is so funny!! I just recently lost my cat..She was 20+ years old..Love and miss her so much...Plus, I'm in a *F**K** Nursing home, so I guess I'm an old HUMAN...Help!! 😊
@@judyturner3850 glad I gave you a chuckle, Judy. Sorry to hear you've recently lost your cat. Twenty is an impressive age, but it's never easy regardless. And yes, none of us are getting any younger, and regardless of our residential circumstances there will come a time when we have to consider what will happen to any new pet that might outlive us! My own cat is about five years old, we think - he was a stray, so it's hard to be certain. I hope we're going to have many more years together.
@@ladycuddlesmeow yeah but those evil tiny craps better known as chihuahuas will look at us even if we're their owner and will instantly attack as if we are intruders in our own home
They know we aren't cats. To them, we're a type of hairless ape that provides food, love, comfort, and entertainment. We may not be cats, but we are family.
I have loved cats my whole life... This video made me laugh more!!! I always wondered what my furry babies thought of me! Great intro to ur channel - I subscribed and eagerly await more videos! Thank u!🥰🙏😇😊😃
Cats can distinguish between another cat and things that aren't cats. That's how they know to either stand off for a territorial claim, run away from a predator, or attack and kill for food. They know that there are different types of animals. I think their categories may be quite generalized, but effective categorizations to navigate the world. For instance, cats chatter seemingly to imitate the sound of birds to encourage them to come closer. But they do this to moths, which have no sound to imitate. So one could reason that in a cat's world, there is a category of beings which includes birds and moths, both flying things which are suitable for food. They are what they do, and what purpose they serve to the cat's survival. They will fluff up and threaten smaller mammals with an intent to fight, but often fluff up with an intent to flee against a larger mammal, or avoid it outright. They will excessively vocalize territorial disputes against another cat, but merely growl, spit and hiss primarily against a non-cat mammal of their size. They know the difference between friend, food, and foe. Cats left to themselves only meow in adolescence, in communicating with their mother. Yet cats in adulthood will communicate with humans through meows. If you attempt to mimic their meows back to them, they will often reply. They can learn that humans communicate primarily through sound. Since humans serve the same role to adult cats that mothers serve to kittens, we are in the category of caretaker, which entails providing safety, love, and food. They recognize us for the things we offer them. And they will fulfill their role as well, in bringing food to prove that they can hunt as taught and seeking validation, as they did while still a kitten. They know we are not cats, they just don't care. But they do see us for what we truly are, parental figures who provide them with all good things in the world.
Great comment! "If you attempt to mimic their meows back to them, they will often reply. They can learn that humans communicate primarily through sound." I actually did that often with my Mum's cat, and she replied really (if she was in mood). Some only opening her mouth without saying anything. "They know we are not cats, they just don't care." Also true. For fun I tried to walk on arms and legs making some cat sounds. Cat looking like "What is that for a stupid human?"
Only fools like you can underestimate Mr. Meowington. When you personally wittness Mr. Meowington's raw skills only then you learn to respect your master.
@@paxpw4017 It’s actually debated, but I don’t think it’s real. Cats treat us the way they treat everything that shows them affection, whether it be a human or another cat. They don’t have a concept of species at all, so claiming they see us as big cats is a little misleading.
Lol yeah, I mean why do they ask us for food if they think we are just stupid cat hunters? They wouldn't be asking me for food, they would be looking for food because they are the competent ones and we are the stupid ones. And they would not accept others asking for food like they do .
Nah cats think we got in a good hunt with that much food. Cats are respect animals. You give them respect and they give it back. They also trust you as their leader.
Cats do NOT think we are incompetent, they see us go "hunting" (that's what they think we are doing when we leave) and then see us sit down and eat enough food to keep them alive for a month. They think we are amazing, don't get your info from reddit. ..or from RU-vid comments for that matter so I guess ignore me too.
This video hurt my cat owner soul so much. Cats recognize the difference between humans and cats - it is the same as a dog treating his human family like a dog family - cats have only the frames about how to behave like cats, so they behave like cats
Agreed with all of you, the information in this video is entirely wrong, cats do know that we're not cats. They also don't think we're dumb, but they might think we're clumsy if we're constantly tripping on them or stepping on its tail.
Cats have gotten so smart, they made a hooman create a short viewed by tens of thousands of other hoomans to convince us we’re incompetent cats just to get us to bring them treats anytime we return to their home. You know the dogs gotta pissed. This whole time they’ve been behaving, loving, doing tricks, & saving our lives for the same treats. If they only knew they could treat us like shit & still get whatever they want bc we’re suckers for cuteness.(said every cat owner)❤❤❤😂😂😂
Actually, some scientists believe that cats know we’re humans, they’re just too lazy so they ignore it. Edit: HIP HIP HOORAY IM FAMOUS!!! Edit 2: Y’all can stop the likes I don’t actually wanna be famous I’m already da best in the world. Edit 3: who started the comment war about how cats meow at this comment. Edit 4: Apparently Ladycuddlesmeow gave my comment a ❤. Now it’s gone. Huh
Yeah, I believe this is more accurate since they have also observed cats using “human meows”. When they are around other cats they actually try to articulate and send messages through their meows but when they are around humans they use a different type of speech like “scream until understood” 😂
@@bio_88 Meowing itself is something, that is unique to house cats. Because humans do react to it positivly. Other types of cats loose their ability to meow while growing up. It's actually a baby sound.
@@Leshantra no it isn't? In my country some animals live on the streets and they literally meow at each other. Not humans, for other cats. It usually ends with a fight tho.
So that's why our cats never ever greeted me when I would come home, but would always pester my mom who always come home with bags of groceries and cat foods. 😂
@@hassanalihusseini1717 No, it's from the time we have cats for hunting mices. They just want to show they are good hunters. Cats know we are not cats, this video is just stupid.
Yeah I don't really get where that idea of cats seeing us as cats ourselves even comes from. Like sure they might treat us somewhat as if we were cats... because they don't know how to do otherwise, and they have no reason to think they shouldnt. However, cats react to other cats in a really different way from how they reacts to humans. They are aware we're not the same. The same can be said for dogs actually.
@@JohnGrandline that's taken out of context .. we're not to love (or worship) the creation OVER the Creator .. but we are called to be good stewards toward all the things we are blessed with .. otherwise God wouldn't have commanded Adam to oversee & take care of everything that He created. I believe God created animals for our benefit - as well as comfort. ❤ But again, not to replace HIM.
@@JohnGrandline I believe the quotes you are trying to apply here - are to not live in the same way, or love The Ways of this world - that would keep us separated from God.
This is precisely why i try to mimic my cats purring, she has extreme anxiety from being removed from her mother too early so when i give her the same affection a mother would, it calms her down
Wrong... your cat has neurological issues. My cat nurses a blanket, I know for a fact it was fed enough by it's mother. If this is the case feral kittens would be a basket case. Their mother's wean them young. Is it a female? Get it a male cat.
@@cinnamonrollypoly Ya, how can you prove any of this. Also, we feed cats, that is food. How does the cat know we bought it and didn't hunt for it? Such a dumb video.
@@matthewlongo6404 this isn't actually true at all. Most cats know that their food is kept inside the house and treats are also there. They even remember the sound of the polybag that holds their treats and food. When I pickup other polybag for chips and stuff, my cats don't react, but when u pick up their wet food bag, they run up to the door immediately and start meowing like they haven't been fed in the last week😂😂
*This.* There's this South African RU-vidr named Michael Jamison who makes videos of him taking care of his two rescue tigers Enzo and Diego (ethically, don't worry). Clearly they don't have the mindset the video claims about even domestic cats since it's apparent in Michael's videos that they're intelligent enough to recognize many different things and animals.. including the fact that Michael himself is not a tiger like them. They can even understand what a reflection based on the video where Michael shows them a mirror. Also, they sure don't expect Michael to come back home with a kill or anything like that. Instead, they're spoiled and make sure to start "meowing" at Michael when he comes around with the chicken for feeding time. They also do this when they see Michael carrying a can of whip cream.. which then they _really_ start getting loud with the begging meows, hilariously more so than regular food. So yeah, no "survival in the wild" mentality at all even with a tiger that has probably stronger and more natural hunting instincts than a housecat. Oh, and despite the fact that Enzo and Diego recognize that Michael is obviously not a tiger like one of them.. they still respect him like a father figure since he's the one who raised them from cubs alongside his girlfriend Jackie. Every once in a while the two big cats' playfighting turns aggressive, but they back down as soon Michael raises his voice. Check out Michael Jamison's channel. Quite wholesome content. He also keeps around a hundred other animals, most of which are dogs, (regular) cats, and monkeys. Not only great channel, but great guy considering a number of his cats were rescued dumpster cats.
@@shikharnegishiggy8752How did the food come into the house in the first place? Exactly. There's your counterargument. Cats know we bring in stuff because they observe us. So this video remains a truly wild hypothesis based on the need for mental masturbation. But thanks for playing.
Love it. For many years my routine was to hit the gym at O'dark-thirty, go to work then come home with a rotisserie chicken to share with my fuzzy roomie. He was always happy to see me.
@@kiranerysegordon5485 me too! My daughter in law was driving on a very foggy morning when she hit a peacock on one of the dirt roads around our town. She was shocked to say the least and nobody believed her for quite a while, well when do you come across a massive peacock on the road?
@@crazycatladyoftullamore5176: My brother found one. We have a couple of them here in Georgia so we'll see them every now and then around the place. He took a picture actually :> Ppl forget nothing is impossible since we don't know everything about everything :/
this is a common misinterpretation of cats _socially_ viewing humans like other cats. they pack bond with humans like they would other cats, and treat you with the same attitude as they would other cats, as opposed to how you're never gonna see a tabby be best friends with a snake even if that snake acts friendly. they can absolutely tell we're not the same species as them, but they don't care because we're still part of the same family as far as they're concerned
cats sometimes vocalise outside of our hearing range i believe So they must also think that we are partially deaf and actually accomodate us by vocalising in our hearing range which is nicer than most people in my life
Tbh this makes so much sense when you think about the way cats and dogs treat us as well. It's like when you go to a foreign country and your behavior is excused... That's dog. While cat is like when you're a Chinese American and you travel to China but can't speak a word of Chinese... You will be judged hard.
I'm Mexican American, and my also Mexican friend judges me for not being able to speak Español. I think even though I'm not in Mexico, this is still the same as that because he IS Mexican, but I'm also born in America, part White, but mostly Mexican. I'm not sure if he comes from Mexico, though.
Nah, dogs are basically when you're visiting Japan. They'll offers you hospitality, but even if you're decided to stay, you'll always be foreigners to them, not Japanese. Whereas cats basically like your rude neighbor who needs alot of free space, but sometimes gives you food 😉
What's lovable about them? Honestly people just look past all their negative traits and love them because they're cute you know the complete opposite of what we say about good looking people that looks aren't everything.
@@Unknown_-bt8uvpeople love them for how adventurous and crazy they are lmao. Cats are not all that bad, it depends how you treat them. Dogs have bad qualities too yet people also look past them 🤷♀️. Youll never get it
My cat definitely thinks we're incompetent cats. We'll be walking down the side of the street and he'll just look over and go 'Bro... thats where the cars are!' Then he'll come over and hurd us towards the grass.
