They're pronounced Cata-raw-gus, they made great knives such as the ubiquitous 225Q " quartermasters knife " as they're often called, a thick robust fixed blade with heavy striking pommel that were widely used during ww2. These Whit-l-craft knives are nice but not very common compared to everything else they made and all the other BSA knives that have been issued. This knife has a spear point main blade with a long nail pull & a swedge, the secondary is called a coping blade. Yes the blades are carbon steel, and the covers are Roger's Jigged bone. The coping is one of my favorite blade shapes, and a reason why I collect the Buck 305 lancer.
