There's meme going around showing square tipped knives being sold in the UK now. Most people think it's a joke but they actually did come out with those knives a few years ago in response to all the stabbings.
I agree with you 34 dollars for a Kershaw knife is way too expensive for 17 dollars that's reasonable .. Nice review Mr Ratchetman take care enjoy your day
Internals are nice and big. It would take some serious torque to break the teeth on that. That ratchet would be a servicing nightmare. Perfect example on why I detest engineers. No reason for this to be that difficult to service on
Snap-on recommends and use Super Lube on their fine tooth ratchets, so do i. I used before to put Permatex Engine Asembley Lube in, but like with oils it gets to thin and comes out.
Surprised about the assembly lube. Never used it but heard it’s pretty stable. There are so many opinions when it come to ratchet lubricants. The video is just my 2cents on the matter.
They’re on every other month on the 4th Thursday of that month. Next one is on August 22 at the Frank Brush Barn. Start time around 5pm but a lot of people get there before that.
I gotta say most round heads have a coil ring which is pretty easy to take off and the mechanism comes out as one so this feature really isn't that great.....But I like novelty features so I still like it.
That is an older ratchet the reason I bring that up is Matco is not made by Danher/Apex they split ties around 2017. Matcos current ratchets are made by AJ manufacturing for their regular line and the silver eagle line is made overseas. Really enjoy your videos and the ratchet tear down.
I don’t know if you have the little tool yet but you can use a piece of tin. Nexts time when you eat something out of a can use the top. Cut it into a small piece of tin and shape it into the tool you need. You don’t need to buy it. Make it yourself.
Interesting never heard of the brand name before Silver Eagle ??? looks like a mid tier Ratchet with the world famous beer can thick backing plate and flimsy snap ring LOL .. Great video take care enjoy the weekend
They indeed were made for a very long time, acquired one off ebay recently, made in black oxide finish, which dates to 1992, so at least in the industrial range they continued to be made into the 90’s, very impressive
Just wanted to say thanks for these videos. I started collect ratchets and I’m always referring to your videos to figure out how to disassemble them or just some history on them. You’ve been a life saver. Keep it up!
If you are concerned about the knife opening while in your pocket, you can keep it closed by using a Ranger Band around it. The closure spring on mine appears to be considerably stronger than the one in the video, so I don't see it as an issue. It appears that Harbor Freight has discontinued carrying the small replacement blades for this knife. Some stores may have some stock remaining. However, my local store manager said that they would be in the clearance section if they had any. I have been unable to find any in my local area stores. Amazon shows a 10 pack of Pittsburgh mini utility blades available for $ 6.99. The Amazon picture of the package looks identical to the one on the Harbor Freight website, down to the item number. It also appears that Ace Hardware has a 5 pack of mini utility blades that would fit this model knife for $ 2.99. Ace Hardware item #23301.
If it says pat pending and not Taiwan anywhere on it then it's usa I have a 23 peice O ratchet set usa made on my youtube channel I remember mentioning if the Cornwell Jr 30 mechanism will work in it I believe it will I could be wrong I don't have a Jr 30 to try it you should make a video to test that theory that would be interesting in my opinion once again great content my friend and thanks for sharing
What I don’t like on this style of ratchet by Wright was they would bore the hole for the plunger and spring inside of the switch all of the way through and upon reassembly the spring would try to sneak out of the bottom and you’d have to avoid that so it wouldn’t get bent.
Jensen makes specialty tool kits, superior organization and construction make the tool sets very easy to use. Every tool in its own pocket makes keeping track of your gear very easy. Jensen has tools made by leading manufacturers, branded with the Jensen name. I think Stanley owns the Jensen brand these days. I have used Jensen tool kits through my career as an electronic equipment repair tech, some 50 years now.
Definitely Stanley sourced and likely one of those that are suspect in COO. I don't know if anybody ever got into trouble for selling such rebranded tools that they thought Stanley was actually making for them here in the USA if they didn't actually know what Stanley was doing, but there are definitely a lot of companies that had sourced such tools from Stanley.
Yeah I’m thinking the body could be Asian. But the mechanism looks USA. I could be totally wrong but thanks for chiming in and confirming my suspicion 👍
The icon cost 70$ and resale for 40 online but the Craftsman gold ratchet made in China resale for 100$ and original price of 55$ Craftsman is the only brand that resale for more than original price the Craftsman double box wrench set 6-30 are resaleing for 800$ on eBay if you find them Craftsman is the only brand that double in value and the best resale i have tried to sell some icon and it was bad
I think Craftsman was dead and buried long before these hit the shelves. Seemingly non-removable pawl and selector is a deal breaker for me. If you design it to be thrown away, then it belongs in the trash.

@@desertdweller9548 To each his own but disagree with you. Every tool has it's place even the cheap ones. To me this chinese ratchet has paid for itself 20 fold. I've done headgasket, timing belts, water pumps, alternator, starter, brakes, shock on numerous vehicles. I do have Snap-on, koken, duralast, craftsman but at the end of the day I reach for this little turd. A tool is only useful if it's comfortable in your hand. It is what it is.
This was too easy. Next time try reassembling the 3/8" ratchet, where is nigh impossible to hold down the spring while installing the pawl. The pawl must be pushed in by the side, not the top.
Looks like Proto made Ratchets for Vogel .. Vogel could have been a brand name for a Government Contract ??? The best part is you can take out 3/8 . 1/2 Ratchet gear and put in a 3/8 drive gear in its place .. Great review never heard of Vogel brand Take care Mr Ratchetman enjoy your day
