Order at: www.metalblade.com/cattledecap... Cattle Decapitation, along with producer Dave Otero, talk about the process of writing and recording "The Anthropocene Extinction" at Flatine Audio in Denver, CO.
I remember being 16 years old, and impressionable. I pre-ordered this album, and finally getting my hands on it, it was so surreal from the album art, to the melodic blackened tones, to Travis having those haunting yet beautiful highs. Saw them in November of 2015, best night of my life. Got to shake hands with Josh (I'm a guitarist) dream come true. This band only gets better and better. Death Atlas totally crushed too. God I love this band.
The Anthropocene Extinction is a genuine masterpiece. IMO by far the best album released in 2015. And it made Cattle Decapitation top my best-bands-in-the-world-list. And now I own 5 different Cattle Decapitation t-shirts to sponsor the fuck outta you. Much appreciation from Sweden.
watch the documentary of their european Tour! According to Travis it's only "CLEAN .. ISH" xD not clean. But you can actually hear it as well. It's very melodic screeching almost kind'a
Vinny Edwards Love it dude, thanx! Love this type of stuff especially since I had to walk away from the industry. And yes, Time To Get....this album in my hands! lol \m/
This has to be one of the best Metal albums to be released since 2010. Its seriously a work of art, the vocals are so profound and the instrumental suits it perfectly
Definitely a great album, musically and lyrically! I also love the artwork so much, has anyone noticed that this album also features, the slaughter house from "Harvest The Floor" and the pile of garbage from "Monolith Of Inhumanity"? This is the most amazing artwork ever!
pacxam11 I was watching an interview yesterday with Travis. The Monolith building was meant in the album cover here. The Harvest Floor slaughterhouse, however, was completely unintentional
I ,for one, would really enjoy a double-song music video for "Ave Exitium" and "Pacific Grim." Similar to what was done with "The Monolith" and "Kingdom of Tyrants." Every time I listen to those two songs it makes me think of how the two from the previous album were tied together lyrically. Something about the transition from calm and mellow into harsh and brutal just rubs me in all the right ways.
I cannot believe that a band like this exists. I came across these guys years and years ago on RU-vid when I was looking up videos on how to modify nerf guns. Even since then they have always kicked around in the back of my head. So glad I got into them. Travis has been a big influence on me learning how to push my vocals further and also just in general seeing how this band works gives me so much motivation
I love how nevous and humble they are about the album. It's really refreshing from the usual, "it's the best one yet". Even though we all know it's going to be amazing!
+๏๏๏๏ ๏๏๏๏ What are you talking about? Dave is actually faster live. ALOT faster. And when I first saw them perform Mammals in Babylon before they titled and recorded it, Travis looked behind him because Dave was speeding up, not slowing down. Either way their live shows are fine.
๏๏๏๏ ๏๏๏๏ He doesn't use a click track live like a majority of drummers these days and I think thats awesome. He still plays in perfect time with the tempo that he sets for each part, which isn't always sped up, in fact he actually plays parts slower such as the last slam in forced gender reassignment. This is an old school way of performing, suffocation does the same thing which makes every show a unique experience. They go off of whatever the energy is at that show and aren't bound by a click track. This fits cattle decapitation as a band perfectly as they are a very grindy band.
Luke Zigrossi "He still plays in perfect time with the tempo" Absolutely not, to say that is absurd. Doesn't use click tracks...So? Who cares, it doesn't change the fact that he's out pacing the other members of the band. Like I said, it's making Travis slur his words and not even finish all the lyrics. Dave is the only one doing this shit, I've even seem them talking back and forth about Dave playing too damn fast. The only valid excuse I've heard is having to play a certain speed due to show time. There's no reason to completely kiss ass, if you're a drummer, you'd know what you're talking about as well. I've been drumming for 17 years now. Don't play me...
Since it came out this might be my favorite metal album. One or two others in the race, but man, does this album pack a real fucking punch... and i'm not one to say that lightly.
In 2013 i saw the singer in a festival selling his own merch, after his own show. Cool guy, willing to take a picture with you, sign stuff and response some questions, not too many people have noticed he was the lead singer of this band.
I love Cattle Decapitation so much.........but, it always took me some time to shine up to them. Monolith and Anthropocene are in my top 10 for sure, but when I first listened to them I was like meh. Now they blow me away with their musicianship, complexity, brutality and overall presentation of what they do! ALL HAIL CATTLE!!!!
I love them as a band because you can tell they don't fuck around with thier work straight to the point type of people. But it doesn't take away from their personality of just being good people. Its not too serious that you hate them and its not to like how'd you say, I don't know I guess playful in a sense where you can't take them serious anymore. This the only band that I really cannot lose respect for the simple fact that they've seen it all they don't act like a bunch of teenagers at the age of around 40 even 30 or 20 years old. Like some bands there attitudes I can't take serious I know at the end of the day they mean well and its just fun. Some people don't take shit serious anymore and when you look at rock stars, let's face it its heavy brutal, sorta sinister rock but they're rock stars not the typical ones though that shine a bad light on the community that go out and get themselves killed or die of an overdose, it's kinda scumish or sleezy that you would punch in the face anyone who doesn't respect Cattle Decapitation for that is just full of horse cause we got a whole bunch of problems in the world. Why would you want to subject yourself to that just cause it isn't what the kids are doing or it isn't "popular" It's not lame at all its ethical I'm 18 and I hate my generation cause they don't have any values anymore they don't value their views on life they let everyone else's poor decisions affect them that's not what your parents taught you to be is just an average person that has no other plans then to do what their friends are doing and go on living like that I like Cattle Decapitation for setting a mold and example for what music should be in the metal community :)
God damn it. I had to stop it at 4:38. I vowed to not listen to any songs released for the Anthropocene for i knew that listening would make the wait for all my pre-orders that much more painful. The one part of the song leading up to 4:38 gave me a Spider-Man like ejaculation. So, sadly, this grindumentary will have to stay in my watch later til August. Can't wait to see you guys perform again in Anaheim. Travis has full permission to spit on my face if he so chooses to. Cattle Decapitation will always be my favorite band.
This album is amazing, cant stop listening to it. I joined the hype train late and started with Monolith but holy hell it blew my mind and gained them a fan! \m/
After just seeing the into to this and they are saying a lot about monolith and improving on it, honestly I think it was perfect just how it was. I get they wanted to refine the positive elements more on this but i like the balance better there. It perfectly bridges the gap of old and new cattle decap and while this one is good it's like trying to make something better that's already perfect
I feel so bad I don't go out and support them more when they come through town I've seem them on summer slaughter but I'll go see them more for sure! Great Band! I think all the band members are pretty badass. The guitarist is pretty damn good and it's crazy they only have him in the band as a guitarist and not another. They sound incredible for having just one guitarist...,
@@BastardOfTheNorth I disagree. I like Death Atlas but it doesn't have the same variety. I do dig the new vocal experimentation, but the instrumental performances sound/feel uninspired tbh.
@@christopheraustin1173 I also liked death atlas but same i thought the guitars were not at their full potential, josh Elmore is one of my favorite guitarists don't get me wrong.
@@christopheraustin1173 anthropocene trumps death atlas and monolith trumps anthropocene. give monolith the same mixing/production quality as death atlas and you have literally the best album ever created
First caught these guys opening for GWAR back in 06 or so. Became an instant fan and they just keep getting better with time. Monolith was definitely the best album to date and I think they've matured quite a bit musically. Can't wait for the new album.
I am so glad that the metal-heads are noticing the message here. Cattle Decapitation is far and away the most important metal band in the world. I am sure Travis' message will come across as strongly album wide. Humans are self-aware but until we start thinking globally about our place in the biosphere we are dooming all life on the planet..including our own. #guymcphereson #clathrategunhypothesis #methanebomb #govegan
My cousin used to say he hated metal until I showed him Manufacturer Extinction. The chorus blew him away and he moved into liking some of the other songs too like Mammals in Babylon. I'm proud of him. Wish I would've bought tickets for him to see them but I didn't think he wanted to because it was metal...turns out he did want to see them.
Buy their shit don't just fuck off with these guys and keep em poor, would be nice to be able to see them headlining over the fucking garbage they have to play under nowadays.
And when I thought the album could not get darker. I heard Ave Exitium/Pacific Grim and holy shit. A big middle finger to the future and humanity, throwing away the hope it had.
