What I thought was Hydro land turned out to be someones property and ended up running into him in the trails. Some of the best views from Rice Lake can be seen from this area.
I do not have an issue if some one accidentally comes on to my property. But when they KNOW they are trespassing, act like I am in the wrong for asking them what they are doing especially when they are hunting or trapping on my "POSTED" land with out permission is when I become a prick.

With your kids at your sides you have to be civil, hard to protect your kids and yourself if you want to escalate it. Being civil you actually meet new friends by chance.
Oh,I acted less than civil! 2 men in yellow slickers, armed, walking downhill toward my house! With a large bull mastiff off leash! when asked why they were trespassing, 1 snottily told me” the owner gave me permission “. I told them to get themselves and dog off MY property. Snot told me they’d leave when done. I replied trespassing armed was illegal, as well as deer hunting with an unleashed aggressive dog! 2nd man got him to shut up, apologized, and they went back.
Yeah, I don't get how anyone could equate "hydro land" with "public property, free for all to use." It's most likely just a hydro easement, but even if the hydro company actually owned the land around their transmission line, it's still private property. He should be really grateful the owner was as nice about it as he was, and learn his lesson because many other land owners aren't nearly so kind towards trespassers.
@@photios4779 I completely agree, My Mrs and I have a fairly large piece of land adjacent to a river but the land isn't posted which we are in the process of remedying now but I catch people riding down in their vehicles fairly often, and when I tell them it's private property they said they didn't know. I always reply you went through a gate to get down here and a few have gotten mouthy which is why I never go unarmed. The entitlement some people have amazes me.
Ikr like it’s there private land, they own that plot of land and so no one should disrespect and trespass especially if ur gonna make up lies and excuses while posting it on the internet thinking it’s gonna get so much veiws and likes
Yeah, but he should have made those little ones get off the ATV, and move a safe distance away first. They could have scattered and hidden if something bad hapoened during the confrontation. I mean the Dude had no idea if you were friendly or not. Just sayin'...🤷♀️

I don't think this was an only in Canada thing. I live in Canada. This was a simple and civil mistake and resolution. Kudos to both parties. I have met and remain friends with many land-owners in the US and they are no different than we are. Respect each other. Great video.
We allowed hydro to run their lines through our property but it is still OUR property. No one has the right to run down the hydrolines. Just because hydro is there doesn’t mean it is not private property.
Good for both of you. We don't let anyone on our land anymore because of serious misuse in the past, but when told it always ends amicably. I love to see families enjoy the outdoors and wish we could allow more.
I am American I think I will move to Canada as I have relatives there. LOL, wish the whole world could act this way and be neighborly even if we are all strangers we are really all brothers and sisters who have lost touch. God Bless and thank you for posting.
The owner may not know that if this interloper gets hurt or killed on his property, admission or not, he is responsible. This video will be used in court as evidence. That's the way this world works, unfortunately. I would have turned him around and sent him back the way he came.
tessamersus Yeah, I hear stories like that. My daughter is an attorney. But I’ve also heard stories of men coming to a “Gentleman’s Agreement”; in other words, they both started out thinking the worst of each other’s intentions and later realizing the issue could end with a handshake of misunderstanding on each person’s behalf. Each walks away a better man and actually waves to one another as they pass in days, months and years to pass. My belief in mankind is part of my faith. However; if my gut (Spirit) tells me different, I ensure I photo or video the trespassers and make a note with the date, time of day, number of people and a detailed accounting of what took place. If you find yourself in court; the mere fact that you show a routine of making note of such occurrences, listing them in a notebook showing the above information will be strong in court in determining these people have been a problem in the past.
Right through the gate with posted signs... What? This is private property? Really? Well I drove through a gate that had 2 posted signs by it and seen it was posted private property. I didn't know it was posted private property though!... Typical jeep people... Go out, trespassing on others land, tearing it up and spinning the tires on loose gravel Luke you're doing something... Thats the worst...
@@lylestavast7652 Didn't actually stop to read it but with all the hydro lines I assumed it was Hydro land. In which case I pay too much for hydro so might as well benefit from their land.
You sir, you the land owner have my greatest respect as a person, your land is amazing in its diversity and is as green as England. Your attitude was relaxed and friendly, you even saw the humour in things like when he lost his hat, you even gave him advice and informed him he may find the route difficult on his quad. I feel that I must point out for your future safety and the safety of your family, I saw signs, I saw many signs when you were going through the wooded area, there were fallen trees, trees crossing other fallen trees and bent trees plus trees that were fallen at certain angles. Anyone who has an interest in Bigfoot will have seen the " signs " that the Bigfoot leave deliberately. If you haven't guessed I'm not a believer in the monkey man, just pointing out the nonsense of it all. You have an amazing property and I thank you for showing me some of it.
That was how it is when you meet and greet a fellow human . Politely untill its time not to . You both acted in good faith and all came away better for it . I bet if they ran into each other later they greet each other like friends and stay that way .👍👍👍 Great lesson for your children to see the right way to approach this situation . Glad things went well .
I like how the guy said he cut that trail himself but also said that trail is over 200 years old that guy looks pretty good to be more than 200 years old
Honestly, I thought he was going to put out a handgun when he got off the quad. When I heard his voice, I realized the guy was Canadian, after that, I was surprised he didn't pull out a six pack and offer buddy one. Gotta love Canada eh?!?!
@@breambitch does the existance of a utility easement mean general public is allowed on it, or is it for the access of the utility operations people only.
When I see someone Trespassing on my land I go down and lock the main gates then they have to sit there and wait on the Sheriff department to come and let them out. They never come back
I welded up my gates myself. They have built in lock shrouds. They are built out of left over steam pipe and 1/4 stainless steel plate. the inside of the pipes are packed with 1/2 stainless rods. They would have to bring a cutting torch or a demolition saw. Also a battery powered angle grinder would only bounce on the stainless. Also a lot of cameras. I own a commercial plumbing company and we have never had a theft
Ive caught people on my place.I never get too mean with them. Some are old timers who have lived here all their life.I tell them to have a good day and be careful. However once I caught two young fellers about age 19 packing a transmission across the property. When I approached them they said they were looking for arrowheads.I took my neighbors transmission back to him.It was a heavy transmission out of a 70's dodge truck. With all that, its not a cool as it was 25 years ago.We used to have trails everywhere to ride on until city slickers started buying property for "getaways" they never took. They sure did put up keep out signs, fences, gates, big rocks at the trails entrances.Cant bring your city rules here.We will burn you out.
My favorite place to ride got blocked with a gate, fence, camera, signs, and a mean ass person. I loved riding there and I had been for years, never left any trace but the trails that were already there.
Whoever a property owner allows, or doesn't allow, on their property, is their prerogative. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you; if you don't want your rights to be violated, then don't do it to others; be fair.

only in Canada can you be completely in the wrong and still be treated like you are a long lost friend.....I'm completely floored by the property owners reaction to these blatant trespassers....I to live in the country and this is not how crossing property lines gets handled here in the states..wow
It is here (the midwest)Kids from town tromp all over private land to go fishing and if you do NOT want hunting on your land you need to post it or the assumption is that you don't mind.
i use to own 60 acres near lake oroville in california on a year round creek with huge swimming hole . we had to shut it down to the locals because of trash and fire hazard . it's a pity that people don't know how to behave properly ,ruining it for others . when i moved to europe i was shocked at first becsue they have "right to roam " laws , allowing people to your property but not close to a house . it works here because people for the most part don't leave trash or steal stuff .
That is the stupidest shit I have ever heard there’s such thing as land that is open to everyone. Not every piece of land is owned, and if it’s not marked, or fenced then how are they supposed to know
Paul Franciosi when you stray its trespassing, you need to be aware when it doesn’t belong to you, it goes for any dogs a person owns also.Signs are only good so far, maybe good for honest folk.

As long as they respect my land and they come and talk with me about it I don't give a dam. It's when some of these younger people go in and steal and destroy stuff , that infuriates me. It is so sad to see some of these old houses fall, litterally time capsules from a time when people were so much friendlier a And people would give you the shirt off their back if you got in trouble. As a boy I didn't want friends that were my age, I visited old people and learned their life story. So interesting . I talked to people that when they were young everybody had horses and buggies. And they farmed with horses also . One old guy I talked to that was in his late 70s in the 1970s that lived near me, his life was a tragedy, his father and mother had gotten down on their luck and apparently had debts on their farm, the father and mother got into an argument and the father accidently pushed his mother and she hit her head and died instantly. And the stove was on and the father fled the farm and the stuff on the stove went to the curtains then setting the house on fire. An uncle who had a farm down the road seen the flames and raced down there to find the house burning down, he seen that the mother was dead and barely got the boy ( the guy I was talking to and got him out. His father died in prison, his aunt and uncle had taken him in and raised him. Finally he got older and got married, his uncle's had all died by that time. His wife got sick and died at a very young age. He never married again. I was shocked when the old man had gotten out tin plate pictures of his parents, aunt and uncle, wife, he never had any children. Then one morning i woke up one cold January morning I woke up to look out my window and there at one end of his house was him lying there. We ran to check to see what happened, he was dead and had been laying out there all night as his shades we're up and his lights were on. It was 33 below 0, farrenheit. The snow on our dirt road was at least 2 ft deep and sometimes the road grader didn't plow us out for a whole week. The poor man died in the cold, the winds that night were terrible too. He didn't have any family . I was very young and this hit me very hard. Some of these old houses I see only need to have their roofs redone and they will last a long time. Some of these old time capsules should be opened up for tours . This day in age with all these drugged up malicious thieves things are litterally destroyed by their kind.
Tison Tison, when I was younger, I was like you. I don't want to associate with young people. I want to be friends with seniors, because I wanted to learn the wisdom of them. God bless you.🙏
@@BillSmith-ku1tp "our" no one owns land that's just a figment of your imagination that you and society recognize as true. The land belongs to no one let it be free...
Ya should have brought him a couple pies afterwards, to make up for your trespass. I did. Got to BSing with the guy and his family and found out that they were having issues with some coyotes. They gave me permission to give it a try in removing their problem. It was successful and I've been hunting and four wheeling on their property for the past 30 years. just a thought.
The way life should be!! Owning extensive property has its challenges. While we post our property we also realize during financial downturns there are neighbors that fish or hunt to feed their families….we don’t ask…and they don’t tell…..finding the remains of a plucked Turkey during the week of Thanksgiving leaves us wishing others well!!
If you had worked all your life to buy land, and pay the mortgage on it, maybe you’d understand why the owner doesn’t want you driving all over it with an ATV.
C'mon man........2 little girls. No helmets and not even eye protection as they go through place after place where branches are whipping across their faces.....but at least he gave them an apple.
I think you knew you were on private property I would call the sheriff and have you arrested I don't have any sympathy on trespassers they all think they are entitled
Us Canadians are smart , he had 2 kids on his rig , and a guy telling stories . Landowner was packin Canadian peace offering , but did not know what intruder was packin . led him down the not so garden path , left him feeling the way he should feel , when he meets a Canadian . Wow , what the hell just happened , that guy was pretty cool !!! But not all are that way , lots believe in Stay the Hell Off !! Even here we like our privacy , and never , confuse friendly with stupid . Eh . Have a nice day !!!
Some people in states are friendly, most not. If you see cattle, especially in Texas, turn around and leave. We have a lot of trouble with illegal people doing illegal things on private land. Traveling on state land you're more likely to run into Marijuana growers and you won't come out alive.
A pleasant encounter between fellow human beings. I hope that the world changes and this becomes more commonplace as it did when I was younger and the world a bit kinder and less owned. Seems to be enough for us all to share if only we cared for each other like these people seem to. Children need to be in nature if the human race is going to survive on earth.
I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but based on some of the other videos I've seen, you might actually have a point there and it's one of the things that drives me nuts about the States. Clearly this guy has simply not realized he had moved on to Private Land and the owner was very chill about the whole thing; this is how it should be handled on a "first offence"...
Iv taken a road like that one day ended up on the far side of grand lake where there was a house and the lake was ground level when it floods it fills all that where i was up.then went down another road and came to a 4way in the road and a old pole with 6 signs pointing diferant directions and on the verry top center it said YEP YOUR LOST😁
I have a piece of hunting property in remote NE Oregon. It's all posted, but every time I am up there, I run into someone on the property or there is evidence there have been people on the property. The road literally dead ends at the base of a 9,000 mountain, so they have to know they can't go any further but they do it anyway. Jerks.
A guy deliberately rammed into me while riding a registered motorcycle on what i thought was a puplic road, it had a speed sign 20 klm, i was doing 20 he was about 65, he then turned around and tried to run me down while i was standing on the road in shock, TWICE ! He hit the bike where my leg should have been , it would have been smashed beyond repair. I remember something soft moving my leg before the hit. Thank you God for saving my leg from this nut case
A lot of the Hydro line crosses private land Hydro have a right of way no one else theses guys should show some respect, and find out where the Crown Land is.
There's no way anyone could be trained on that much land. The guy on the 4 wheeler was probably a trained professional and even he had to perform a 15 point turn. The landowner probably trains on that land every day. The poor vagrant guy probably would have sit there and died. He was overwhelmed and he was just barely on the property. Thank god the landowner showed up. His training on that land probably saved that guys life.
I have property that folks are trespassing on A Lot. Its tiring and disrespectful. The time one of them gets hurt and wants my property insurance provider info..or broke down out here ? Lord help them. I'm for being nice but trespassing is Not Right and they should Not do it. Period
